Devon Levi watch, update: he's returning to college
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Is this right (re: Portillo)? I thought he was only a sophomore, but maybe that doesn't mean anything. -

How was that not goalie interference?!?!? Not exactly the best response from the others on the ice either IMHO. -
Does anybody have any idea if there will be a replay available of the ceremony? Unfortunately with Directv Center Ice, I don't get any pregame before 7:00 pm.

Can we win a Cup without a Superstar forward?

I would contend that BALANCED scoring is more important. Teams that have had success consistently get 3rd and 4th line scoring in the playoffs. -

I think of the 2018-2019 St. Louis Blues cup-winning team. I don't recall a superstar forward on that roster. ROR had a great post-season for sure, but he's not a "super-star" in my definition of the term. That may not be the only example, but yes I think a team can win without a $10MM+ forward. -
Did Eichel need to fly the coop to let Dahlin spread his wings
Carmel Corn replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
Agree....I think the departure of perhaps multiple players needed to happen for new leaders to emerge. I don't know if even Risto's presence could have been a factor as well. The new "room" with guys like Tuch and Okie may brought a different vibe encouraging more teamwork and accountability. -
Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff?
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I'll admit I wasn't always sold on DG, but how can you maintain that any HC before him should have been kept? Even Disco Dan did not find success as a head coach post Buffalo. For the first time in a decade, I feel we have somebody in place who can get this team to the playoffs. -

Dahlin to Skinner convert.....Ralph Krueger was a terrible coach! -

If I'm not mistaken...the bracket indicates that if the Gophers beat Minnesota State and Michigan beat Quinnipiac and then Denver in the Frozen Four, then our 4 prospects will face each other in the championship FINAL. That would be great to see! -

If we get burned again by any of our college draftees.....Levi, Johnson, even Portillo or heaven forbid Power....we should never draft a college bound player again....unless the NHL changes the rules so that teams can retain rights indefinitely. -

Toker needs to learn how to poke check on these shootouts. -
Can Jacob Bryson be effective in the playoffs?
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Hard question to answer, but in IMHO - Bryson plays "bigger" than his size. He's built pretty solid and does not seem to shy away from contact. -
Do You Think Sabres Will Make Playoffs Next Year?
Carmel Corn replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
No, but I am hoping they can end above .500. IMHO - they will finally breakthrough the season after next. -
My mistake...I was hoping that a new TT contract could emphasize more money during the early years to consume more cap space while we still presumably have room. Looking ahead a few years, we would have to address another Dahlin contract plus any of our younger players whose rookie contracts would expire. If that's not how the cap math works, then thanks for the correction.
