  1. Lol - this feels true and is funny if so. Amazing what having an elite QB will do for a GM. The Patriots presumably did well with bringing in FA’s? They certainly found a hidden gem with Edelman. This Beane draft record debate is begging for good data analysis. Surely it exists?
  2. Yes indeed - what *if* Terry were dissolving PSE because of a divorce from Kim and not because Kim had become disabled following a medical event. 🧐
  3. The organization’s press release was garbage and subsequent reporting has brought clarity. That is, that PSE is dissolving and, thus, the Bills and Sabres are being divested therefrom.
  4. Quessenberry (sp?) cut. They must be planning to sign a FA OT or trade for one. Upgrading at MLB and QB2 also seems possible. They were in on the SF QB - what’s his name - Trey Lance (?). (Unsure and not looking it up - sounds like a member of a 90s boy band.)
  5. @Doohickie could you edit the topic to reflect that PSE didn’t so much separate the Bills and Sabres as it dissolved? E.g., PSE dissolved; Bills and Sabres are separated as businesses; Terry Pegula named Sabres President
  6. I’m usually quick to join a dog pile on Timmay Graham, but, in this case, it seems like he gave a tough but fair assessment of the Pegulas’ affairs after Kim became disabled. But … yeah. Maybe being “tough” here isn’t all that defensible. 🤷‍♂️
  7. He did. No choice, really. But at least now his status as chief officer is more direct and the PSE layer is gone.
  8. Rip is a savage, as the kids say/used to say. There is no pretense about and no artifice to him. His stories and perspectives are great.
  9. On further reflection, I’ve come to see the dismantling of PSE as, at least in part (and probably in large part), a consequence of Kim’s condition. This is a good take above. I’ll add this: I think Terry is happy to be pretty busy with ownership work that he likes — remember the “we walk in 2 different directions when we get off the elevator” line from Kim. Terry doesn’t like the PSE business administration work.
  10. Sorry if I missed this upthread. He dissolved PSE?! That’s a big deal.
  11. Oof. It’s become the norm. I’d bet Loonies to donuts that this is a prelude to selling the Sabres.
  12. ah shoot - i keep forgetting this. nfw then.
  13. It doesn't strike me as utterly obvious to nickname LeBron James "King James." It's a really good nickname, which is why it stuck, but it wasn't inevitable. The Akron Hammer didn't stick. Nor did efforts to call him L-Train. As for Dominator, it seems obvious now. "Dr. Dom" didn't stick. "Gumby" didn't take. To Hasek's relief, "The Count" didn't become a thing. (See linked and below.) But someone coined "Dominator." I think it was Gurtler. https://www.thehockeybeast.com/nhl/the-dominator-once-had-a-completely-different-nickname-that-he-hated-the-story-of-its-origin-is-absolutely-incredible/ Before The Dominator became a thing, he was nicknamed ”Dr. Dom” by Mike Keenan and ”Gumby” by broadcasters. But for a short period of time, he was also nicknamed ”The Count,” and he didn’t like it one bit. ”We’re going on a road trip, and we’re getting on the plane, and he had an overcoat,” said Mitch Korn, Hasek’s former goalie coach in Buffalo, in the podcast When Goalies Were Weird. ”He did not put his arms through the overcoat. He buttoned the very top and, (like) back in medieval times, it looked like a cape." ”And one of the guys nicknamed him The Count.” “He did not like that,” Korn said. “And it hung around until he got good. And when he got good, it disappeared in a hurry, replaced by The Dominator.”
  14. I am amused by how little reliable information is out there on the origins of Hasek's nickname. Here's the only thing I could find linking it to Gurtler. Good ol' buffalo74's wordpress blog. https://buffalo74.wordpress.com/2011/03/12/dominik-hasek/
  15. I tried to manage my excitement over the kid for a while, and then I was like "ahh fuggit - he's the next Travis Kelce." More seriously: There seems to be something in the eye test with him that suggests he could be special. We'll see how he looks in a regular season game first, I suppose. If Kincaid delivers on his early signs of promise and if the Torrence kid (mountain of a kid) continues to hold firm at RG, 2023 could end up being a fantastic draft for the Bills.
  16. Like Quinn, he does play right wing. And I thought I heard some analytic online person explaining how his underlying metrics suggest that he's not totally washed. Hmm.
  17. On second thought, maybe not. I heard it said that Gurtler came up with it. Not true? Dom's not a reliable source. He recently credited it to RJ. I am sure that's not true.
  18. Hmm. I'll take your word for it.
  19. I believe he coined "the Dominator" nickname.
  20. now you've got me cringing in recalling a brutal john guertler call.
  21. Great idea. I do wonder about how the thing could be engineered and built such that the proffered hand didn't end up breaking all the time.
  22. Agreed. If the Bills were to make the playoffs as a division winner or strong wild card team this year and they were mostly healthy at the key positions, they will be "a contender."
