  1. Mittlestadt stays. JBOT thinks the world of that kid, so he's not going anywhere. TT, Asplund and Jokiharu are waivers exempt so they're on their way down. We probably see them at some point throughout the season. That said, Jokiharu sticks around until Montour is healthy. Lazar gets sent down too, unlikely anybody picks him up. He'll be good for Roch. Girgensons, Larsson, Wilson stay put. Kruger has roles for these types of players... gritty puck hounds with questionable talent. 4 more years of Okposo at $6m seems like a long long time. Something has to give. Maybe send a pick and middling prospect to SEA to take him off our hands. Ullmark starts game 1, but is not officially named the #1 goalie.
  2. I thought Sobotka looked better than Rodrigues throughout the preseason.
  3. Larsson, how many times have we seen him blow great scoring chances?
  4. Yeap He's had a nice game for a change. A couple poor decisions in his own end tho.
  5. Looks to me like he took a shot off the foot in the middle of the first. He took some shifts after, but those can be tough once you take your skate off... no need to rush back.
  6. Same. I think it's strange to put a players name and number on your own jersey... for any sport. I mean, you're obviously not him(or her), maybe for a kid it's cool he looks up to that player, but as an adult it's kinda weird to me. Gives a stalker kinda vibe.
  7. Auston Matthews is a terrorist, confirmed.
  8. If history is a guide.... they'll send scouts and whatnot to check up on him, providing him with a custom workout program and dietary plan, etc.... The Sabres are very involved with all their prospects throughout the season.
  9. I'd rather see Vesey with Eichel and Olofsson. Eichel drives everything, no need for Reinhart on that line... put him with Skinner and Johansson.
  10. Goalies are an enigma. Some of the best prospects in history turned out to be trash, while late round picks or undrafted FA's become hall-of-famer's. So much of goaltending is mental. It's difficult to predict how these guys will adjust mentally to the speed and stresses of tending goal at the highest level, with enormous amounts of pressure on them.
  11. Risto was his usual self. Makes some good plays, but the second CBJ goal was entirely on him. He had the puck with time to move it to an open Dahlin behind the net, then inexplicably turns back into the CBJ player, turning the puck over, then lets Anderson skate unmolested to the net front for an easy dunk. Those brain cramps are why he's on the block. Scandella needs to go too, he's just terrible now. The game has gotten considerably faster just in the last 3-4 years and some guys just haven't been able to adjust. A guy like Gilmour is more effective just because his speed allows him to cover up mistakes. Neither Risto nor Scandella have that ability.
  12. Yeah. I, for one, was disappointed in the performance and don't see anyway this team isn't picking near the top of the draft yet again. Goaltending, lack of defensive awareness from most players, laxk of secondary scoring chances, long stretches without any compete level... just more of the same.
  13. Hutton is terrible. Ullmark has potential, we'll find out this year. It's make or break time for the young Swede. UPL already has hip problems, I'm not counting on him down the road. Erik Portillo is an intriguing prospect. I like that JBOT keeps drafting goalies, but there is no proven veteran starter anywhere in the organization. At some point that needs to change.
  14. Okposo on the second line? Holy hell. I'm really pulling for the guy... but c'mon, he is what he is at this point. I'd rather have Vesey in that spot, which is not easy for me to say.

  16. Replace Sheary with Okposo, and yeah.
  17. My money is on Okposo.
  18. Woah, so I got a win last week?
  19. You dont pay him $9m and then put him on the second line.
  20. Maybe he values winning a Cup more than an extra few million dollars?
  21. Lost by 4 yards last week, and by 5 yards this week...
  22. Allen reminds me of a bigger Jim Harbaugh with a stronger arm. He's getting better, but there are still a handful of plays every game that I'm sure he wishes he could have back. As long as he keeps progressing and those plays happen less often, that's all you can ask for.
