  1. From what I have read, not really. He is adequate in the defensive zone, nothing more. But adequate in the defensive zone is better than Dylan Cozens, and he also is a more dangerous scorer. I would be much more invested in the rest of the season if this is true and it does happen.
  2. It is not just that the Sabres need to move on from him. He is not the type of player nor does he give them the production he needs. It if for Cozens sake also he gets moved. If he is to salvage his NHL career, it seems it will best be with a new start, away from this franchise where he can start over with a new role and new teammates.
  3. Sorry, I did not know that you were not in WNY.
  4. I started the season high on Cozens getting back to his form of 2 years ago, but when reading some of the criticism of him, mostly by LGR4GM, MJD1001 and recently CarmelCorn, I started to watch for it myself. Most of them have posted plenty of the fancy-stats but I do not usually give much credit to them unless it can be verified by actual on-ice visuals. If you have not yet, you need to get out to a few games in person downtown and isolate on Cozens. Most of the problems with his game are apparent not on the camera but away from the puck. It is not simply his lack of production that is an issue but most other aspects of his game. He will leave top players on the other team uncovered in an attempt to retrieve a puck he has little chance of getting to before a defender. He will take shots from what seem to be good spots on the ice but he does not notice other Sabres wide open in much better areas. There was a single shift a few games ago where he lost a faceoff and eventually got back to the puck but almost tripped for no reason before he got to it. When he did get to it he rushed a pass across the ice that went into the D-mans skates, and then before the shift ended a simple pass from a teammate hit his stick right on the tape but he fumbled it into his skates for a turnover that led to an opposing scoring chance. When you watch him in person, shifts like that are not the exception, they are rather quite normal game after game. I honestly have never been so puzzled watching an NHL level player as I am with him when you see how he thinks and reacts in a game.
  5. I will be checking this forum or social media every hour I am awake tomorrow in the hope Cozens will be moved.
  6. Cozens tries to stick handle between 2 defenders and it was not even close. He lost the puck about as quick as he possibly could in that situation.
  7. The last 2 seasons Tuch, Peterka, Cozens, and Thompson all have over 1000 minutes of ice time. Greenway is 12th among forwards at just over 400 minutes. Yes, he is a 3rd line winger but he gets all the PK time he can take also. His availability has not been, and continues to be not good.
  8. Cozens looks like he has decided to give up on the physical stuff, give up on helping teammates. Sure, he does it every few games, but most of the time it looks like he does not care. He has no problem flying into the offensive zone to try to get some shots off, but other than that he looks heartless more often than njot.
  9. On the replay, Cozens literally stands by the side of the net and does nothing for seconds while Dahlin is throwing punches and getting punched. He was 3 feet away and did nothing. Cozens is so awful. He needs to go now.
  10. I think Rosen will not be as good of a scorer as Peterka, but he may eventually have a better all-around game. Too bad you cannnot do this like you could in the NHL video game from about a decade ago. Put Quinn, Peterka, and Cozens up for trade and just get the results of the best offers out there for you to select and execute.
  11. After seeing that play it only further reinforced my opinion that if he is still on this team by the deadline tomorrow, it will be one of the more deflating moments of the year as a fan for myself.
  12. McLeod looks like he does not have much of a weakness in his game as a middle 6 center. I would say he is one of the better 3rd line centers in the league watching him play. He is so much more enjoyable to watch than some other players on this forward group.
  13. Maybe he knew the trailer behind him was Cozens so that ruled it out 100%.
  14. A bit let down to see Cozens in the lineup. I was hoping a trade was in the works for him, so he would be pulled out of the lineup until it was completed.
  15. Juggernaut to me means elite team. Like best team in a decade in the league. As in the marvel character, a juggernaut is something that is almost unstoppable that crushes anything or anyone that gets in its way. The Amerks are good. Juggernaut good? Not yet.
  16. It is something dumb with Cozens every game. Every single game.
  17. I want him gone the sooner the better. There is not much left for me to hope for this season. As you said, the season is toast. But for the remainder of the season, I want to watch a team without him. He just makes so many mistakes and it gets me frustrated watching him fumble around with the puck and make awful passes and plays, only to see him continue to be put out there over and over. I am going to watch most of the rest of the season. I do not need, nor do I want to see him continue to play Center for the Sabres.
  18. I did want Pettersson earlier in the year, but the more I read about them the less and less I want that deal to be made. I do not think he is a head case, I just think it is likely he has some ailment and its more a case of 'damaged goods' than anyone else. Someone else referenced that during the 4 nations, he was putting ice on his knee or leg. That, with the huge drop in his production, is a large yellow flag.
  19. Agreed. Even if you think Adams may be fired so you do not want him making decisions as for who future players will be for this team, he can still 'cash in' current roster players that do not fit here for 'chips' that he, or anyone else can use in the future to rebuild the team. If you get an offer for a player that is obvious is not a long term answer here, you take it. Truth be told, futures that can be used in deals in the offseason might be better to receive than a player back right now in a 'hockey trade'.
  20. No, for sure no.
  21. 2 bad passes, a penalty, a giveaway leading to the short handed goal, a pass to his stick that he did not handle, all in the first 10-15 minutes of period one. Dylan Cozens is a bad hockey player. And yet they keep putting on the ice over and over.
  22. I would match your statement and raise you a Leafs crowd in Toronto. It is not a Maple Leafs game unless about 500 fans complain about how the Refs are out to screw them and nobody likes them because they are jealous of Toronto.
  23. Really? Who? IF we throw out the analytic departments totally and only go by scouts and what we can see with our eyes, why would anyone love him. He makes costly mistake after costly mistake, many of them have been brought up on this board at the time of. Some have been documented by posters with screenshots and videos. I would venture to say that if you only looked at what you see, there might be just as few teams interested in him. How do we know any team in the league absolutely love him as a player? I highly doubt that. If we are to go by past reporting, there may have been a deal for Cozens to Detroit worked out in December. If that is true, we know the Sabres were interested in moving him. So if they are interested in moving him, where are all the other offers? I think there may not be great offers simply because he is not highly thought of around the league. After typing most of this post I put my attention back to the game. He gets a penalty putting the team shorthanded. Just over 5 minutes into the game he takes an offensive zone draw and loses it clearly, almost loses his balance and spins around in the neutral zone, the puck comes to him and he has a open guy across the ice to pass it to without being rushed and he puts the pass 1-2 feet behind his stick. If scouts are looking at his play, they just saw 3-4 below average plays in a matter of seconds. We can see his bad play on television, but when you get a chance to go to the games and follow him for entire shifts those things happen often. If it was not for his above average skating speed and a good looking release, when you watch him you often wonder how he is even an NHL player at times.
  24. Should the Sabres move him and get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him I would be overjoyed. To get his contract off of the books and get rid of a player that has hurt you for the past 2+ seasons and get anything back would be a victory.
  25. I think it is both Adams and Pegula. Adams might hold onto a bad player because he would be terrified that he might do even a little bit better with another team and that will make him look even worse. So I agree with the use of the word courage there. As far as Terry Pegula, I am starting to come around to the fact that he has his favorites on this team in terms of players, and Cozens is one of them. Adams may not have the courage to move a player like Cozens, but I do think that is compounded by Terry Pegula not wanting to trade someone that he is very much a fan of personally.
