  1. Uh, I think you are forgetting this was the highest scoring team in hockey for a good part of the season and they finished 3rd. They looked like the Harlem Globetrotters on Ice much of the time offensively making teams look silly in their own end. Pretty sure all those games weren't against backup goalies and teams skating around aimlessly. Just an absurdly dumb take, IMO. They didn't make the playoffs because their home record was abysmal. 5th worst in the NHL and the only 4 teams worse were all 30+ points lower in the standings and the 4 worst teams in the league. They missed the playoffs by 2 points. If they would have even played league average at home they would have made it by at least 10 points.
  2. You are going to win the National Golden Snowglobe award going away this year... Currently have a 55" lead over 2nd place Boulder, CO. Buffalo has won it back to back years but we aren't even barely on the map this year. Have under 8 inches of snow this year to date when we had over 100 inches at this time last year, on the back of a massive lake effect snowstorm in November and the worst blizzard in recorded US history the few days surrounding Xmas. Currently ranked 14th with 7.7", showing just how little snow has fallen in the lower 48 this year. Not only that but since November 1st, we have only had 2 days that haven't had a high temp over freezing and those days both reached 31. December has featured 12 days with high temps 45+(including 8 days 50+ and 1 day hitting 60) and another 6 days over 40. Absurdly warm for this time of the year, over 7 degrees above normal and currently the 2nd warmest December on record next to 2015 which was a crazy warm outlier, and also a strong El Nino year that featured a 71 degree high one day and several other days in the 60s and upper 50s. This year and 2015 are the only two years in recorded weather history since 1878 without a high temperature below 30 degrees for the month. Buffalo also just set a record for most consecutive days without a temperature under 20 degrees, reaching 305 days since the last time this occurred when it hit 16 degrees Feb 23rd of this year. Looks like this will extend out quite a ways as forecast well into January shows all highs above freezing with only a few days reaching the mid 20s for lows and the others in the 30s for lows.
  3. The team needs to re-find their transition game that was so lethal last year. Let's not forget this is the same team that beat Boston 3-1 a few weeks ago and multiple other high end NHL teams this year. It's not all bad. It's just bad far too often for them, especially at home.
  4. Another pathetic home game for this team in a season and a half full of them.
  5. El Nino, not La Nina. Totally different It was warmer in Buffalo believe it or not
  6. Make the world a better place, punch Brad Marchand in the face.
  7. Strong El Nino effects this year
  8. Fun note...those "old" movie clips in Home Alone were not from a real movie but made only for that movie.
  9. Yup. At this time of year every win is tough. No game is "easy" regardless of opponent or circumstances Yup. At this time of year every win is tough. No game is "easy" regardless of opponent or circumstances
  10. Really 4, which should have happened as they had 2 breakaways and a 2-1 in OT that was stopped and then the rebound to Tuch for a wide open shot was stopped. 4 chances where the likelihood of them scoring would be in the 70+% range for each of them and they scored on none of them. Gotta score when you have that many easy chances to win.
  11. Nice comeback from a 2-0 deficit to get a point. Sabres had a multitude of great chances to end the game including 2 straight up breakaways by Tuch(shorthanded late in regulations) and Mittelstadt and another great chance or two from point blank range. Gotta finish those chances. Get a point tho and keep stacking.
  12. Apparently he hasn't spent much time watching the Carolina Panthers or NY Jets.
  13. Bills at the sports bar and probably checking in on Sabres every so often
  14. We need a version of Chris Drury here. Could you imagine what would have happened in that locker room the next day after a game like they had against Columbus? The entire team would have been afraid to even come to the rink to practice the next day. Probably wouldn't have been able to sleep because they would have been scared to death. He would have chewed up and spit out the entire team and they would all looked around and have been like "guess we better get our sh!t together" Until we have a captain where the kids are too afraid to come to work unprepared and trade in their gatherings at each other's houses playing Call of Duty for watching game film to prepare, it won't be consistent enough.
  15. They seem to have come up with a game plan to go back to more of their high flying ways from last year and let the chips fall as they may while working on the defensive game as needed. Sign me up for that. I can at least watch that team and they can outscore a lot of the opposition.
  16. This team is clearly capable of that...too often they choose not to. Last year would be a better one to look at...they were elite on the road, this year they are kinda not great in either place.
  17. I'd like our chances to outscore teams enough to win more than we lose. It happened last year and we would have made the playoffs if they didn't puke all over themselves at home.
  18. That style would have made the playoffs if they simply wouldn't have sucked so bad on home ice. That should be an advantage not a hindrance.
  19. Maybe they should do it for themselves.
  20. You know what would sell tickets? Playing at home like they did tonight more often than they play like did against Columbus. That would be a good start. This is not some bottom feeding team devoid of talent that needs a name player so fans will come. This is a highly talented team that simply needs to get their collective heads out of their @sses most nights and play up to their potential.
  21. Can someone please give this Bi-Polar Team their meds before the game on Saturday? Also the best forward without the puck. At 18, a little over 20 games into his NHL career. Extremely impressive.
  22. Yup, they simply either don't think they have to work hard in those games or don't bother preparing mentally because they think it will be a cake walk. Really no excuse for it. Clearly they have enough talent to have a much better record than they do, they simply don't have the will to have one.
  23. They can be a top 3 team in the division if they actually are serious about it and people are willing to do the work to make it happen. They can't if they allow this to simply be a good game and go back to their old ways again.
  24. Would probably end 4-1 Sabres...for whatever reason we just have the Leafs number most games.
