Players are bigger (in some cases, certainly in Football), stronger, faster, with technological advancements in equipment that accentuates these factors. The human body - even those as developed as a professional athlete - isn't made to constantly collide or turn on a dime at high rates of speed. My doomsday thought is that Football as we know it will eventually become extinct or far more watered down than it already is.

Prospal would be a fun head coach.

Samuelsson had no business being anywhere near a letter from the start. It was undoubtedly a ploy to justify that contract. It's easily the most egregious move Adams has made. Adams got sucked in by contracts for guys like Siegenthaler and Fehérváry.

I sincerely worry that Östlund and Helenius are going to be Asplund 2.0 and 3.0.

Quinn for Jiricek sounds about right to me. But then you'd have a second giant body pillow along with Power which would drive fans insane. Add Olivier for Samuelsson to the package and now you're talking. Now you've got shot balance (which is probably overrated, but I digress) and a blend of skill and toughness. Tyson Jost was centering them two weeks ago. And he's played 10 more games than Thompson and seven more than Tuch. Again - good player. But he doesn't fit at the money he'll likely get.

"When" Mitts is re-signed? He's a third liner for us who doesn't play physical or kill penalties. Yes, he's our leading scorer on the season. I was valedictorian in Summer School. I don't dislike him, but are you going to pay him $4-$6M a year with enough forward prospects to replace him at a fraction of the cost? He will arguably be Adams' biggest challenge between now and the deadline.

Classic Dreger waffling. Looking for forwards but "not an intense search." Probably my least favorite "insider."

I would have much rather heard 2-3 years as opposed to 3-5. That's my biggest fear - that they cling to this youth, development, pipeline, patience, etc. etc. etc. for too long. If I'm Tuch (26 years-old) and Thompson (25) in particular, I'm not too keen on a 3-5 year plan.

Craig Anderson is a thousand times more equipped to handle being waived, getting claimed or not, then dealing with the outcome whether it be going to a new team or Rochester - or even retiring - than a 20 year-old getting ping-ponged around. It's just not worth it

Krebs, Quinn, Peterka and (maybe) UPL are more important to the health of the franchise than Craig Anderson. Great career, still plays reasonably well, undoubtedly great in the locker room. But your roster management shouldn't revolve around him. I know they're often times "paper transactions," but it's a needless distraction.

All just to manage the workload of a 40 year-old backup goaltender. It might make sense for a serious contender, but not a team in the midst of a rebuild (tail end or otherwise). A decision should have been made on UPL before the season to have him here or not. He's essentially a first round pick - he's been coddled long enough.
