I've said before that Murray probably can buy himself several years as the Sabres GM just off of the EIchel and Reinhart picks. IMO he just burned a lot of that goodwill. Lehner for #21 is bad. Taking on Legwand? WTF? If it was Lehner and a good prospect from Ottawa for #21...maybe. This is what all of Murray's knowledge of Ottawa's inner-workings got us? How about Ottawa takes back TM in the trade. GET THE HELL AWAY FROM MY REBUILD!

Out of the goalies available via trade(Talbot, Anderson, Lack) and a number on the FA market, this is what TM does. This is awful. I questioned his overpayments on the KIngs and Jets trades, this just confirms my suspicions. He is in over his head.

Still a ridiculous overpayment.

My head may explode. Legwand is a cap dump at this point in his career, and a #1 for a concussed Lehner who really hasn't shown anything in the last couple years would be ridiculous overpayment. I would immediately become VP of the anti-TM fan club. I can't remember the one poster here who does not like TM at all. He would have to be founding member and president.

I tell you what, with a $500 million investment up front, it is going to take a long time to break even.

Biron had almost 250 NHL games under his belt when the Sabres traded him. Talbot...57 games.

If that was the case, he'd be talked about in the top 5, not late 1st round...or later.

I'd prefer that they don't draft a goalie at 21, 31, or 51. Anything after that, knock your socks off.

If so, that is a solid pickup. Among the goalies on the trade market(Talbot, Lehner, Lack, etc...), I like Anderson the best. If they can find a couple guys to play defense, they should be much improved.

If the Sabres trade for ROR, combined with Kane, Reinhart, Eichel, Girgensons & Ennis, that would be a really really good start to building a top 9 that can score.

Sabres play division rival Tampa Bay 4 times by 11/15 (15 games into the season)...then don't play them the rest of the season. :blink:
