  1. I agree they jumped the gun paying him. The contract could turn into a bargain down the road, but I don't trust his development with this organization as currently constructed.
  2. Alright, boys - let's play more like you did for most of February. Cannot lose twice to MTL.
  3. Dahlin to me is probably top-15 right now. He's a legitimate #1 defenseman. The question is, how good would he be if he played for TB, FLA, or Carolina? I think he's shown the ability that it's reasonable to think he might be a top-5 in the league if he was developed by a legitimate NHL organization. That he's as good as he is now on ***** teams is a testament to his ability.
  4. I think Power gets more of a pass because in a lot of cases, defensemen take longer to develop & reach their potential. I'm inclined to be more patient because the raw potential with him is tantalizing, but I'm sure we all agree he will not reach it with this team as currently constructed. His ceiling is very high, we're probably watching his floor most nights right now. The only hope to unlock that potential is significant changes to not just this roster but also the structure and overarching organization philosophy.
  5. 50% chance they win tonight. Also 50% chance they lose. Spoiler - the team that scores more goals will win. I'll probably watch, but also may lose interest pretty quickly. That's pretty much where I am with Sabres games now.
  6. What has to be so frustrating for VAN is that when his head is screwed on straight, Pettersson is one of the most talented players in the game. He put together what amounts to 2 full seasons (across 3 total seasons, 2021-24) of elite production. And they paid him like it. Then shortly after he signed the contract, his production fell off a cliff, he started feuding with JT Miller and to this point hasn't recovered. He was invisible in the 2024 playoffs and this year's 4 Nations. He hasn't scored a goal since January 21st and has 1 in his last 20 games. He has 6 points in his last 18 games. That's as big a red flag as you can see. At this point, VAN would have to pay ME to take on that contract.
  7. Tuch is a productive player who could be on his way to his second 30 goal season in 3 years. He's a locker room leader and actually seems like he wants to be here. Petterrson is a headcase who has caused friction in his own locker room, is prone to disappearing for very long stretches and is being paid like a top-10 player in the league long term. Granted, Petterson is very talented, but that is horrible risk/reward.
  8. They went all in on KA's approach of loading up on "skill" regardless of how it fit into the roster as a whole. They were emboldened by encouraging early returns when the team played really well over the last couple of months of the 2022/23 season. What they failed to identify is that that was likely an aberration based on teams not knowing how to handle the Sabres offense first (only?) attack. The league caught on and the Sabres growth has plateaued at best and regressed badly in many cases. Glaring deficiencies are obvious to anyone with 2 firing neurons in their brain and it's pretty evident there is/was no Plan B. If they're afraid to make roster alterations because other guys they've traded have gone on to have great success, God help us. They want to make "hockey trades"? Okay, they're gonna have to go find partners with assets that don't have NTC/NMCs. Then they have a short window to win to keep those guys from wanting out. In short, it's a big ***** sandwich and we're all gonna have to take a bite.
  9. Only six? Sheesh, feels like he's played for everyone at one point or another.
  10. I think that means Vesey has now played for every team in the league.
  11. We said all of this 12 months ago. This organization is good at one thing - kicking the can down the road.
  12. Guerin is a good GM. Adams is not.
  13. Individually, I agree. But his complete inability to construct a cohesive roster is an utter failure on his part. In reality, any deadline deals will likely be for futures anyway (yay), so doesn't matter a whole lot I guess...
  14. No Joker tonight. They working on something with him? Likely more draft picks. Yay.
  15. There is no objective reason to keep him around. None. This roster is of his doing, has zero playoff berths in a league that 50% of the teams get in, and appears no closer than they were two years ago. Actually, they appear further away. Question is - does Terry even care enough to fire his pool boy, or is Adams really good at selling him on a (never ending) process? If I'm a betting man my money goes on no significant changes only because they've spent years convincing me they're not a serious hockey organization.
  16. Won 6/7 then lose ugly twice. That's our Sabres.
  17. The guy responsible for this is almost certainly the next HC. Awesome, yeah?
  18. Every time they give some indication of possible forward progress, they quickly snuff it out with a couple of games where they revert to looking clueless, hopeless, and inept. This organization needs an enema.
  19. Multiple great opportunities this period and they've failed to cash in
  20. Multiple primo opportunities not taken advantage of there.
  21. This would be more entertaining if Rayzor was stuffing his face.
