  1. The Sabres believe UPL is their #1 goaltender and are behaving accordingly.
  2. Could you imagine UPL & Levi battling for the starting job in Rochester? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
  3. Ellis was good last night and seems like a nice kid, but why would we keep three goalies? Three healthy goalies creates more problems than it solves. I’m down on UPL more than anyone, but we are stuck with him. I could not imagine this GM would trade or waive him, so we thank Colten for his time here, waive him, and hope Lyon stays hot.
  4. Vegas would definitely put a claim in. Adin Hill is week to week so the only guy they have is Schmid and his numbers aren’t great in the NHL or the AHL. A real GM might be working on a trade…
  5. I am also worried about Zucker because he is hard to replace. He’s one of the adults in the room and the Sabres need that. This coaching staff will just slap Krebs onto the third line and bemoan injuries. But to your question, Rosen can supply Zucker replacement level play on the PP and that’s about it.
  6. Just fyi, a conditioning stint cannot last more than two weeks. Also, in Kevin O’s story from last night, ā€œLuukkonen said he accomplished what was necessary, though he said he wasn’t sure if he will rejoin the Sabres or play again for the Amerks on Friday.ā€ Sounds like a decision is coming by the end of the weekend.
  7. 21 saves on 23 shots for the victory and second star honors. The Crunch were 4-0 to start the year.
  8. They won with 26, 72, 89 doing nothing on the scoresheet. Tuch did get himself in front of the net to contribute. We need the big guns to get going. With that said, it’s so nice to get a W with guys like Kozak, Timmins, Doan, Quinn contributing. Hats off to Ellis. Three huge stops on two breakaways and that two on one post-to-post stop was ten bells.
  9. I don’t agree the WR failures are on the OC. What I’m seeing are defenses bracketing Shakir and playing man on both Keon & Palmer…the ideal offensive matchup. They can’t get open. Brady is not McVay/Shanahan elite, so maybe someone like that could get more out of the WR room? But bottom line for me is this is a talent issue.
  10. Not at all defending Adams, but just for the sake of the conversation…his offseason trades were good this summer. -Clifton and a pick for Timmins is a good trade. -JJP for Kess & Doan is a good trade, especially given the circumstances of JJP not willing to sign here. -Lafferty for a pick is a good trade. GMKA should not be employed, but his trades last offseason cooked.
  11. The Rochester Americans (2-2-0-0) prepare to host their second home game of the season as they face-off with the undefeated Syracuse Crunch (4-0-0-0) tonight at Blue Cross Arena. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was reassigned to Rochester on a conditioning stint and will start tonight. Amerks alternate captain Brendan Warren is slated to play in his 200th game as an Amerk, becoming the 63rd forward in franchise history to reach said milestone.
  12. I am also very tired of losing. But that doesn’t mean blowing ***** up is the best course of action. If a trade guarantees the playoffs, I’m all in. But it doesn’t. I hate where we are as a team, but I’m not cashing out at a top pick right now. We’ve already tried that routine and it didn’t work. We have 76 more games to make this team work. Let’s go.
  13. Isn’t everybody tired of developing talent for other NHL teams? Defenseman take more time to cook. OP doesn’t turn 23 until next month. This team is not better with Power out of the lineup like they are with Cozens out of their lineup. I would be willing to revisit the conversation next offseason if progress is not seen. He’s coming up on 250 games which is typically a benchmark for forwards development leveling off…D just take longer.
  14. If the Sabres don’t want to carry three goalies, then Ellis would go to waivers. The 30 day rule is that Ellis can be immediately reclaimed by the Blues AND be sent directly to the AHL. If the Sabres waive him after 30 days, anyone can put a claim in and put Ellis on their NHL roster.
  15. Connor Timmins has been good so far in stepping up to a top four role. Far more minutes than anyone intended for him. He’s blocked more shots than anyone on the team and his on-ice expected goals number is very good. Can’t wait for Kess, but Timmins deserves praise.
  16. Dobes has been better than Monty so far. This will be his third start…he’s 2-0, 1.46, .940.
  17. We are at game four and talking like this trade will be a known formality is bonkers. It’s podcast fodder that we should not be paying attention to. Hence your grain of salt comment with any of it. BUT, let’s entertain the idea. If a trade, retaining 50% makes a lot of sense. It means an acquiring team only needs to fit 2.375MM onto their cap making Tuch literally the most premium deadline add in the league. The haul would be enormous. I’m not fond of kicking off the Jarmo era with trading a very useful player who grew up a Sabres fan. It’s the exact opposite of what I would do. But if Tuch will not accept 10MM X 6, I totally get it.
