It's nice to see Quinn get a game. I imagine that he'll get some shifts on a couple of the lines. Nice to see him show some chemistry with a line. Also looking forward to seeing Power with Lybushkin. Hope they play well together. Mainly just hoping for a strong consistent effort with another win.

I see that Seattle was able to beat Colorado last night. They look like a pretty hard working team right now. Heads up for next Tuesday's game with them.

Which Sabres forward is scratched for the Vancouver game on Saturday?
Digger replied to SHAAAUGHT!!!'s topic in The Aud Club
Personally I would throw Quinn in for a game soon (Vancouver or Seattle). Not sure who to sit. He's sat through 2 big wins and he'll be super motivated. Just a hunch that he'll play well. But that being said I've noticed that Granato likes to keep a winning lineup in place (but perhaps a couple of injuries force the change). So maybe Seattle for Quinn. -

Great win, worth staying up for. Very entertaining to be in the lead throughout the majority of the game. Well done boys. Next up Vancouver, winless in 5. They are desperate. No mercy. -

I don't miss having Ristolainen on the team but every time we play Kadri I always remember the fun battles between the two when Kadri played for the Leafs. It would be nice to see that little weasel get hit by Lyubushkin (if he plays). Otherwise, next man up. -
Needed Hasek in that showdown, he would have loved the challenge.

The Eichel 2022-23 Thread: "I'm not bitter -- I'm just interested."
Digger replied to SDS's topic in The Aud Club
Personally I have moved on for the most part. I do hope that we beat Vegas with him in the lineup again this season but other than that I'm okay. We had lots of discussion and debate on Eichel all last year. I would continue to read the posts if someone started an Eichel thread. My original post was really that based on the number of posts about Eichel (there should be a new thread) rather than filling up the Around the NHL thread. It's not my call just my opinion. -

Wow, lots of comments about Eichel. I wonder if there's anything else going on in the NHL of interest (if only there was a thread for that). -

I agree that Calgary will be another great test for the Sabres. I'm thinking a low scoring game maybe 2-1 (either way). I'm hoping that the boys play well. -

Yes I agree undoing the Evander Kane trade and I'll throw in the Lehner trade would have been interesting. The total tear downs to get Eichel and then get past Eichel have been very frustrating to live through as a fan. But at this point it's pretty satisfying to look forward to the current team growth, character, talent and expected success. -
Well Comrie did need to win over some of the Sabre fans. Job well done tonight.

I watched Saturday night's game between Edmonton and Calgary and was really impressed with Calgary. I'm thinking that tonight's game will be easier to win than Thursday's (but not an easy game). I'm expecting a Sabres win tonight. Hinostroza will be motivated and he's played well with Cozens in the past. Let's see how the other lines mesh Thompson with Tuch / Olofsson with Asplund (hopefully similar to last season when we were playing well).

I saw this on the highlights today and thought it was worth posting. Detroit's Larkin prevents the empty net goal (5:55 on the video) and they go on to tie the game and force overtime. Would have been the perfect story if they had won. Just goes to show that you should always score the empty net goal as quickly as possible. Also noted that Husso did not look that great on a couple of the goals.

Anders Bjork Clears Waivers, Has Been Assigned to Rochester
Digger replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Bjork is on a one way contract so he'll get his full salary, this year $1.8M even if with Rochester. I know the cap numbers are different for the Sabres with sending him down but I believe Bjork gets his full salary regardless. -
Who was playing on Dylan Cozen's wings last year when he played so well against McDavid? Just checked the highlights looks like Caggiula and Hinostroza.
-
Asplund had lots of chemistry with Olofsson last season so I would agree reuniting them for a few games would be good. I do wonder if he plans on using Sheahan as the 4th line center when he's healthy again that will free up Asplund.

Maybe he tweaked something in his fight in the Carolina preseason game?

GDT: Panthers @ Sabres 10/15/2022, 1pm, MSG, ESPN+, BSFL, WGR
Digger replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
Today's game is what it is. Losing to the Panthers sucks but they are a great team. My only criticism after listening to Granato's comments are that he said we just need time to get the powerplay going. In my opinion the last two preseason games could have been better utilized to help the final roster in preparing for the season (instead of the first few regular season games). The last two preseason games, we played quite a few of the Rochester bound guys. (I know that this can still pay off with having Rochester get off to a good start but). -
Can't they check if their current Zamboni driver can play goal (thought it was in the job description)? Not the first time for the Leafs to have to go that route.

Too soon for me to really gauge how we'll do today. If I'm remembering correctly I believe we had some good matinees last season. Obviously this will be a great test for Comrie and really get everyone playing in sync. I feel like this might be tight game, 3-1 Sabres win. -
Goaltending remains this organization’s biggest question mark.
Digger replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
That's why we should be trying hard to sign Portillo as well Leinonen from last year's draft. We need the depth in the very least. Remember the tragedy that happened with Blue Jackets goaltender Kivlenieks. We shouldn't plan on bad things happening but lots of things can happen in life. We're doing well home growing talent at forward and defense. -
When I first saw this signing this morning my initial reaction was that it was a good signing for the Sabres. My second thought was to wonder why he wouldn't he play out the season first (bet on himself, bet on his performance). If I was his father giving advice I would say take the guaranteed money but if I was the young player I would want to play out the season first. I guess I've always based this on my own life in that I was always willing to prove myself in any job (not just potential). I always felt that was a good character trait. I not suggesting anything really about Samuelsson. Like I said it's the safe bet to take the contract. I do hope Cozens waits and has a great year before signing.
