  1. Good I was hoping that we would have another 3rd period come from behind win..............
  2. Thought we would have seen Mittelstadt tonight but I guess he's getting tomorrows game against Pittsburgh. Dell not playing tonight (UPL / Robson) or tomorrow (Anderson / Tokarski). Maybe that will get Dell's attention to be better prepared for the next game he gets. UPL is slated to get the full game tonight.
  3. This is hockey so I'm allowed to be superstitious. I say he gets traded the day after this thread is closed down.
  4. So when there's no news on Eichel, they drag out Lehner for a quote. Waste of time listening, nothing new, move on.
  5. Yes I think Don Granato is the best Sabres coach since Lindy Ruff. What I liked about Granato last season was that his team could have a bad game and then the next night against the same team would be better prepared to play them. He seems to be great at breaking down the issues and putting in a plan to address the issues (a plan that actually empowers his players, enthuses his players and works). Lindy's teams were always really prepared to play in the playoffs and I remember that I was always impressed with how we started the playoffs every year with him as the coach and the execution plan. Playoffs..........................so long ago.
  6. Yeah I just figured with preseason games starting it's now the start of the 2021-22 season and off season is over, but no issue if it's more official with the first game of the regular season when rosters are set.
  7. My mistake, sorry I misread that you had started the thread. @WildCard just a suggestion to change the thread name or start a new one.
  8. Isn't the "2021 off season" official over now @New Scotland (NS)? Maybe close the thread or rename it to just "around the NHL news" or "Around the NHL News - 2021-2022 Season?
  9. Columbus has already played a preseason game so they may have a bit less rust. The Sabres lineup is pretty inexperienced (quite a ways from the expected regular season roster) so I'm thinking that it's going to be a tough game for us. Hopefully we can score a couple. I would expect quite a few training camp cuts following this game.
  10. Exactly right. Put together an offer and say it 100% depends on seeing and assessing the medical records. Then a better headline for Friedman is "LA Kings (or insert any NHL team name) are interested in trading for Jack Eichel and have officially asked Buffalo to see his medical records". Then the fan base would turn towards Adams and wonder why they haven't been provided. Just because they were not e-mailed out to every team doesn't mean they are not available upon request. Apparently St. Louis is used as the example of how to operate with Tarasenko's medical records available to everyone but he still is not traded either.
  11. Good question. It would be nice to see him be able to do a skill play and then have the power to put a shoulder into someone and keep on going to the net instead of losing the puck. Same deal defending his own net. He could use some nasty in his game to get some additional space this year.
  12. How about naming the teams that are upset that they haven't seen the medical records. I doubt that this is holding anything up.
  13. There's not much substance to Friedman's comments today. He had the one sided podcast on Jack Eichel's preferred surgery too. His personal opinion is not worth much more than anyone on this forum. He's trying to control the narrative I suspect maybe. I know arbitration has been mentioned many times, if it's an actual option I wonder why it's not being explored since both sides are at an impasse.
  14. I don't put much value into scrimmages. I missed most of this one but caught the shootouts. I'd like to see them get the preseason games going against other teams. For some reason it seems to me that the Sabres are slow in the preseason. Other teams have already had their first preseason game against another club. We are waiting until Tuesday. The preseason games will give us a better idea to see who has chemistry and what young guys are ready to play for us. I know...............patience.
  15. I hoping to see some more news coming from training camp. Scrimmages, etc. Maybe today? https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/how-to-watch-sabres-blue-vs-gold-scrimmage-on-sunday/c-326307422
  16. Yep I agree with you (but went with option 2 given the choices available). He's got lots of talent and he is a smart player. He will show it this season in Rochester. I love the idea of Quinn and Peterka developing together this season and then making a push for regular roles with the Sabres next season.
  17. I agree that it depends on the extent of his current injury. If he's able to play in some preseason games then I see him making the team as a bottom pair and then getting opportunities as the season progresses. This is a great year for him to learn and grow with the big club before Owen Power comes next season.
  18. He's a high character player with talent. You can't teach character and values at this level. I think that he was raised by good parents and coming from the Yukon I imagine he's had to work very hard to get where he is today. He will surprise and be a great Sabre for many years to come.
  19. I see him having regular minutes and sharing a center spot with Asplund. The line combo that I would like to see with him is Asplund, Ruotsalainen, Olofsson to see if they could develop some chemistry and perhaps a few 5 on 5 goals.
  20. I saw a report that Chicago is trying Lukas Reichel at center too. As you know he was a linemate for JJ Peterka at the WJC for Germany. So yes other teams try the same with players that they think can switch.
  21. Yes, me too. I think I bottomed out just before the draft (with the trade of Ristolainen and Reinhart) and I've started to be more positive since. We drafted some nice prospects that we can follow this year and we are expecting a more "normal" year of hockey for them to develop. I have always found the Sabres training camps and preseason an exciting time as a fan. We have some younger players with upside with new hockey deals. I'm hoping that they trained hard in the off-season and that Granato can have success in getting them to play well (or respectable 😏). Let's see how they do. Every team in the league is all potential on day 1 of the new NHL season.
  22. Yes I have been wondering the same thing. If other teams are cautious like the Sabres then getting that surgery won't help the trade price.
  23. That is interesting point about Granato being on Krueger's staff. Krueger said that he valued his assistants very much and used them to bounce ideas off of. Consensus? It does seem a bit strange that Granato and Krueger's coaching is so different. Perhaps they debated issues or maybe Krueger was all talk and just did his own thing. It's not a big deal at this point but I do wonder about Krueger's discussions with his Assistants (especially when it all went sour with the losses). And yes I agree with your point on GM Adams hire of Granato.
