  1. I think Adams will make one maybe two significant moves to shakeup the lineup and a couple vet signings. He can’t be banking this season on adding more kids. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 1st pick and/or a prospect or two are moved out for a significant piece that can help win now.

I can’t see Ruff agreeing to come back with the idea of just promoting a couple more kids.

This makes no sense, because he doesn't want Lindy Ruff who just got fired from a young team like ours he doesn't want the team to win? There were 2 Stanley Cup winning coaches out there and we pick the worst of those 3. Are you sure you dont want to see the Bills record broken?

Is Berube a better coach? Who is the other Stanley Cup winner?

I would love the assistant to be Jay McKee! He has done a wonderful job coaching the Hamilton (now Brantford Bulldogs) and all their young players. Loved how Jay played defense for the Sabres as well. This club could certainly use Jay as an assistant and get the D to take some bodies a dish out some hits.

James Patrick is my first choice but McKee has done a good job in the OHL.

Omfg, this is never going to end. Fans will see a name and get perpetual fan boners regardless of if the guy is good or not.

Mike Weber for assistant head coach!

You are going to get Peca’ed to death!😜

I don’t care if he comes back or not but he shouldn’t have been allowed to leave last year because they couldn’t make room for him on a bench with Matt Ellis and Jason Christie.

Get me two seasoned NHL level assistants and I will be happy.

I like Ruff too but this was not and is not "well done"

They didn't even do a real search.

You are right but I think Kevyn just wanted him and better to make it official then do a sham coaching search with multiple interviews if Lindy was going to be the guy anyways.

To whom? If this truly was the case, Berube and Gallant's agents would have contacted the club regarding the coaching vacancy. Apparently that hasn't happened. I can't see Lindy getting the job over either of those 2 if they made themselves available to the Sabres organization. I'm good with the Lindy hiring but I do feel we, as Sabres fans, over value the players in the organization. Let's see what Lindy can do with them or we see who stays and who gets shipped out for next season. I'm not completely 100% sold on the players in the organization. Some will bloom, others will fail.

You don’t know that. Maybe Kevyn spoke to both. I mean there is a reason Gallant gets shitcanned so quickly in every stop. Leaving the guy on the side of the road isn’t a positive sign.😄

Im open minded to Lindy. He had NJ going last year with bad goaltending. This year they lost Hamilton early and had horrible goaltending. They didn’t improve at all when Green took over.

Again the rest of his staff is key to me.

  7. The bottom line is Adams ass is on the line and he wanted someone he could trust and knows he can work with. Lindy brings the positive PR, the accountability piece and he lives here and wants to be here. He also hasn’t been out of the game for an extended period. He was also the easiest sell to Terry.

Two things will make or break this: the quality of his staff and if he has some say in building this roster. I want him to have input in bringing in a few guys to round out this team. Hopefully he tells Adams to shove his “can’t block the kids” plan up his a$$.

I fully expect he grooms the next coach as part of his staff and then moves into management in a few years.

  8. Who is the rest of the staff? Because Ellis and Wilford aren’t cutting it!

Can we get a James Patrick or Jay McKee for the D corps and a PP specialist on the staff as well please.

A younger coach who could succeed Ruff in a few years. I know everyone loves Peca. Someone like him as an associate HC (a promotion in title so he could leave the NYR) or someone of that ilk.

I think Adams wants Appert to remain with Rochester.

True. I think I remember when the Rags fired him there was talk that management felt he was too much of a players coach and Laviolette, despite his exterior demeanor, was considered more of a demanding hard ass.

Tuch played for him and had good things to say about him in his exit interview so that had value for me.

It was said that in exit interviews the players expressed they wanted a coach with more structure then Gallant.

Well, with a week going by since DG's termination, I'm inclined to think that KA's first choice isn't one of the guys who is currently available (i.e. Lindy, Gallant, Berube) -- although it's certainly possible that KA called one or more of them and got turned down.

Still, it seems more likely that his first choice is someone who is currently coaching in the playoffs, and he needs to wait for that guy's team to get bounced.

It would sure be nice if someone in WNY sports media had some info for us.

Maybe there is a chance with Brindamour. Maybe he wants to see if Quenneville gets reinstated. Maybe some of the coaches are waiting to see if some playoff teams get punted first round (Leafs) and a job opens up.

We have heard nothing about Ottawa, NJ or St Louis either though.
