    Leinonen started.

Tbh, I expect more from Mrtka. There's a few elements of his game I thought really shown late last season. I like Mrtka more as things go on.

I agree. He has a sky is the limit type potential to him. But if he doesn’t pop he still looks like he will end up a Myers like dman which is an asset to the backend.

    JUST DON’T RUSH HIM!!

  2. I think they have something in Mrtka. He is so young and has a lot of runway in front of him and has a ton of potential. All the tools are there and I think the brain is pretty solid.

If he turns out to be Myers with some more aggressiveness then that is a heck of a pick.

Tonight he scored a goal and:

They weren't proven innocent.  They were acquitted of the charges.  These are different things.  An acquittal means that the prosecutor in the eyes of the judge or jury (depending on the type of case) failed to prove their case against "beyond a reasonable doubt."  It's the same criminal standard in the both the US and Canada.  This doesn't mean they are "innocent."  It just means that there wasn't enough evidence to convict them.  Think the OJ case.  Does anyone really believe OJ didn't kill Nicole or Ron Goldman?

The standard in a civil case is significantly less.

I don't think we'll ever actually know the full details of what happened.

What we can say is that were acquitted.  We can also say that the original investigation in 2019 concluded that there was insufficient evidence to charge the players, but was this investigation tainted by Hockey Canada? We can also say that the NHL did their own investigation and found that the players didn't act criminally, but their actions failed to meet the NHL's moral integrity standard.

I think this is a nearly impossible situation.  Do we forgive and give these men a second chance?  I think each NHL team must decide for themselves.  They need to carefully look at the role each player played in the event and I think they need to look at who the players are today.  I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of teams take a chance on a couple of these guys.  I don't think McLeod will be one of them.

Good point. I should have said “not convicted”.

  4. There is a real confusion right know on whether these guys teams still have their rights or not.

It’s a complicated situation. Some young guys made bad decisions. They were judged in a court of law to be innocent. We don’t know exactly what happened and what didn’t. The judge found the woman to be unconvincing.

Should the players be blackballed or given a second chance? The NHL is giving them another chance. Coach Q and Bowman got second chances.

I don’t need the Sabres to sign any of them. McLeod’s brother would be the only one I would be interested in.

Hart I think will have plenty of suitors.

  5. So Adams has gone from years of pencilling Levi in as the NHL goalie to now putting guys in place to keep Levi from the NHL.

And I have no problem with Levi starting in the AHL again but this was not Adam’s plan 2 years ago. Shows how clueless he is.

I agree with some others that this probably means someone is injured in net right now and this is an insurance plan.

    Nice recap/overview - I like the Q&A format too.

As for the item above: The Eagles may want a word. But I take your point. I think that the Eagles and Ravens have the best two rosters in the NFL.

    Effin' birds.

Nope you are right. I had a brain fart and forgot the Eagles game. That will be their biggest challenge. Hopefully the D is all back and better equipped for that game.

  7. Was the D shot handed and need a lot of work? Yes

    Will they get better? Yes

Did they make big plays when they needed them most? Yes

Did the Bills stand in against their toughest opponent this year and find a way to win when it seemed impossible? Yes

I read last night that they have one of the easiest schedules in the league the rest of the way.

I was encouraged with Coleman and Palmer and how they might transform this offence as the year progresses.

If they can stay healthy until week 7 then I think things will change on the defensive side of the ball.

  8. Pure Greatness from Josh Allen.

    what an unbelievable game!

Baltimore was dominant. Jackson and Henry were machines. Buffalo’s defence was exposed and yet they never quit. The D came up with some clutch plays.

I hope Coleman continues this ascent.

    Ed Oliver was a machine.

rest of the AFC East lost today. What a start to the season!!

The only problem is that, just like the jets, when they fire their coach we run the slight risk of them finally making the right hire.

LOL do you think the Pats said that for a dozen years in the Brady era?
