We haven't made the playoffs in 13 years, the bar is so low that any change is positive right now. What is going on isn't working.

I don’t see that as change though, just shuffling the deck chairs. They already work collaboratively and Adams as President reporting to Pegula would get final say and push Pegula’s ideas.

I think a lot of ppl don't talk about Adams being fired because it seems impossible.

I'd like Adams moved into a role of whatever we wanna call it, but he basically just is the liaison between gm and Terry. Move Karmanos into the GM role and Ventura to assistant GM. Adams job is to keep Terry up to speed, offer his opinion, stay out of the way.

I agree but do we really know that Karmanos is a better GM option? We hope that would be the better setup but do we really know? The fact the rumors were the Canucks wanted to offer Karmanos the GM role is a positive.

If anyone will get the President role it will be Adams but Inthink Terry wants to keep it and keep Adams as GM.

You have been a very positive force here lately.

The build momentum got a good chuckle from me.

I just want them to win at home, and let the kids see reasons to like this team.   I really do not want to them fall behind and have the crowd get upset.

To think there is a whole generation of kids that have no concept of what a Sabres playoff game is.

  4. I always enjoy following prospects and the draft but I could absolutely care less who they draft this year. We have danced this dance way too many times already.

Trade the damn pick for someone tangible. Give the fanbase some hope that you are remotely serious about getting serious.

Pretty sure Rod did not coach Jeff.  He started after they traded him.  Possible he said I don’t want a floater on my team after looking at tape, but the Hurricanes made a lot of moves in an attempt to play a different style of hockey.  Laying their failure at the feet of Skinny is a bit much.  The guy can be a net negative, but his skill set is top three and last year on a poor defensive team was a +15.

@Crusader1969 In answer to your question, placing Skinner on the third line with defensively responsible players who can play a two way game could yield a lot better results than we have seen in years.  In terms of LW, I think Quinn has the highest potential with goal scoring and plays a better defensive game.  Similarly JJP is ascending so I plug him on FL2.  The third line does not have to be a no skill/checking line.  Better match ups and opportunities of possession for Skinner if facing an Islanders “identity line”.  Plus, unless the cost to extricate Jeff is low (2nd round) I would rather use picks and prospects to acquire talent and not to hope “addition by subtraction” works.  Skinner is not Diggs.

Rod was the one that demanded Skinner be traded. After the trade he said that you can’t win with players like Skinner who only play the way he does.  He wasn’t wrong.

  6. If Granato is back then I am not. We have seen exactly who he is as a coach and how these players don’t respond under him when big games are played. Poor starts to the season, poor starts to games. Special teams, especially the PP has been a joke. I can’t watch him behind the bench anymore.

If Granato is back they are 14 years without playoffs.

Still Yerdon and Lysowski think Appert is on the list of AHL head coaches NHL clubs are looking at.

Yes, people have to remember Appert is coaching a system dictated to him by Adams and Granato. He has gotten his team deep in the playoffs two years in a row. He has done it with suspect goaltending overall the past few years. If Levi had been there all year Amerks are easily in the top spot in the division.

Appert is a very dynamic personality. His ability to communicate is undeniable.  I definitely see NHL teams looking at him in the next few years if not now.

I personally don’t think he is the fit Buffalo needs right now. A seasoned NHL successful coach who holds players accountable is the right move.

no - i am not one of those people who screams size and grit. not saying the team doesnt need it - but i dont scream for it.

i just think the team is horribly lopsided on D depth - and horribly lopsided with youthful depth. it can only go so far - and so many of these guys rarely pan out to anything other than bottom 6 or bottom pair dmen.

fans and gm's love youth more than they should. i suppose because it is tangible in writing - but most good teams balance it out.

as the team stands now, it is going to flame out over the next 2 - 3 years and we could have nothing to show for it by having a surplus of underachieving high draft picks.

i mean, what has the organization shown us that we can feel confident that they know what the hell they are doing with all of these high draft picks?

and fyi, very in touch with how a lot of organizations work - doesnt mean it is right. your favorite team is an example of that. but no worries, you can get a nice dopamine hit from buying another sweatshirt or jersey!

Don’t disagree with you. Just think Parayko isn’t that guy with his play and contract.

Dylan Demelo is a UFA and a much better option out of Winnipeg. Matt Roy in LA is another great option. Either guy would be perfect fits.

i dont care about his age. defenders of his style can play into their mid 30's.

protected 1st round pick. even if it wasnt - what do we have, a 5-10% hit rate?

muel is not as good. plain and simple. muel is not regularly reliable. muel is not playing from the coveted right side.

savoie is no guarentee of anything. what i do know about him - his younger teammate got called up to play a full season and is currently a 3rd line winger - and should probably be in rochester - but a fine 3rd winger for the next year or two. Savoie got sent back to after one game - on a team that is in desparate need of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th line help. while i hold out 'hope' for him - it is just that - hope. we know nothing about him at this point. as an aside, the sabres are not tough to play against, even if savoie is ready, he does not help with that.

corsi? for a guy who play 2/3's of the game taking faceoffs from his own end? could care less about his corsi. while i will not pretend like a lot of posters i have watched him play a dozen or so games - most of you would be lying if you said you did - i have watched him - and he is better than any of our RH shots on the team. a lot better.

you want to be a winning organization? take risks. 'lose' a couple trades. in the nhl, rarely anyone gets to coach or gm a team for more than a handful of years. and this isnt even close to the eichel value as st louis is getting nothing like tuch in return. besides - value of a player goes down when they demand a trade and the owner demands a big no on a surgery. poorly played cards is what that was.

in the end, give me a guy who solidifies our RH side well enough for the next 3-4 years - i take it because it fills a need. young depth is NOT a need on this team.

all of this is moot. the blues would reject this offer. parayko would reject this offer.

Honest question: do you really think he is good right now or is be big and he can be physical and that’s good enough?

There seems to be a portion of fans that just want big tough guys now.  Not saying you are in that group.

I think some people would trade   Buffalo’s first or Savoie for Rempe because he is tall and punches guys and that would fix everything.

For that matter, Vesey was drafted as well. Guys who are drafted but don’t sign by their deadline, become free agents in August. These are just guys who were never drafted.

Yes good point. Adam Fox falls into the Vesey, Wheeler category as well.

Here is a list for those interested. I heard that Gretzky guy carved out a decent career😛. Some great names on the list. Some from overseas, some from college, some from juniors, some went to the WHA instead.

  11. For a team that hasn’t found a goalie since Ryan Miller just get UPL under contract. 3-4 year deal at reasonable money. Adams has proven zero ability to identify and secure decent goaltending from outside the organization. UPL has proven he can carry the team as a number one for an extended period of time. Levi has not yet. So don’t put all the eggs in the Levi basket. We saw how that worked out this season. And I’m as high on Levi as anyone but this is not the time to get cute or smart at the goaltending position.

Just curious, what college free agent player became a really good player?

Marty St Louis. It’s like signing Euro free agents. Once in a blue moon you hit a grand slam like Panarin but for the most point you are hoping to get organizational depth, a player that can either be a solid AHL player or someone that can take a shift in the NHL. Anything above that is considered a really good signing.

A guy like Vesey that was super hyped has bounced around the league. He never became the star some thought but he has found a spot with the Rangers.

I just need more than a half of a seasons production, he was Comrie-bad before this resurgence.

No he wasn’t. He was a goalie struggling to come back from double hip surgery. He has always been a talented goalie.  24 is the beginning of the maturity curve for goalies.

UPL-Levi should be the long term plan starting next season. Bridge him for 2 year and see where Levi is then and make a decision at that point.

Looks like diggs is a free agent after this year .

This trade looks really bad for Houston now

    https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/new-twist-to-stefon-diggs-trade-as-texans-give-him-chance-to-be-free-agent-next-year-202814251.html

Texans have him a raise and eliminated the final 3 years of his deal so he is a free agent after this coming season. Very strange. Maybe it is an out if he deteriorates more and is a headcase to boot.
