Exactly.
They basically have Olofsson in Ruots. You can move Olofsson for a young asset, especially if this is a blowup rebuild which it should be.

Let’s call a spade a spade. This Collective FO with the Pegulas, Adams and Krueger was all about Ralph and the Pegulas getting their say and Adams following out the plan. Everyone brought in and let go was handpicked by Ralph.
Lets see what Adams and Karmanos do this off-season. There needs to be a huge move to more analytics based decision making.

Let’s have some fun. Sabres win the 1st OA selection. You are going up to make the pick. Who are you legitimately picking?
I am choosing Power. His combination of size, skating, hockey IQ is too good to pass up. I think he is a sure thing. Will play a lot of top minutes for a very long time in the league. I let him go back to Michigan for one more season to mature (something he said he is already heavily considering anyways). I don’t worry about having Dahlin, Samuelsson, Bryson and Johnson already. Dahlin seem to be itching to slide over to the right side anyways. I see the Sabres having to blow it up and it is easier to get young high end scorers back in trades then it is elite young dmen.

Power is earning steadily more ice time for Canada and looking very good. On in the last 2 minutes protecting a 1 goal game.
His hockey IQ seems to set him apart from a lot of big Dmen.

I’m thinking Power or Beniers depending on draft spot so just like last year:

The only one I really don’t want is Edvinsson so I am preparing myself for that selection.😆

I like McTavish but 2nd is silly. The rest of those guys are pretty much interchangeable.
At #1 I think Sabres take Power. Number 2 will be fascinating if that is where they pick. So many different ways to go.

Trading for McDavid would be a bad move. It would take Eichel++ so instead of a team not deep enough to sniff the playoffs with Eichel, you have McDavid and even less depth. I’m sure he would be THRILLED here under the current situation.

If the results are building new they should build them together on a single piece of land, even connected, or one giant facility with both housed within, sharing parking space. Easier said then done, finding a piece of land that makes sense.

Remember too that Power missed out on the WJCs and the Frozen Fours, 2 events that really would have showed his stuff and been great development events for him. Because of the craziness of this year I think whoever takes Power should let him go back to Michigan or the AHL for the season.

if he’s the BPA. Take him. Figure out the line-up laterI’m glad he is getting a last chance to show his stuff. Michigan wouldn’t let him go to the WJCs (he must of been thrilled watching Beniers play for U.S.) and then Michigan gets pulled from the Frozen Four at the last second for Covid. Those would have been two huge stages to see him play.
This is a year when no one knows who the right pick is. Everyone has their opinion but they don’t know. If Buffalo gets 1st pick I have no problem with Power.
