  1. “Scoop: Doug Wilson is navigating choppy waters in the Bay Area. Sources indicate significant friction built up between Kane and a number of his teammates last season, frustration that was expressed clearly to management in exit interviews. The trouble is Kane is also coming off the best season of his career: 32 goal and 40 assist pace over an 82-game season. He is one of the best at his position with a relentless forechecking style  – and he’s signed to a contract that is commensurate with that production. We’ll see where this goes.”

Shocking to hear that Evander has worn out his welcome with his teammates.🤪😜

  2. Vegas could offer the best  now and future deal:

Theodore+ Tuch+Krebs+1st or young prospect. If Fleury somehow waived take him for cap purposes. One year of a really good goalie and leader would do wonders for morale and you could always flip him for futures.

Theodore and Tuch are mid 20s and Krebs would be ready to step in.

They don’t have the high pick or depth of prospects but would offer guys that could help today.

Hearing from who?  Teams and scouts aren’t openly mentioning who they are taking at this point of the year. With the craziness of this season I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to be close, McTavish has a playoff type game that teams covet.  I just wonder who he is hearing it from.

We really should be finding a way to get Merzlikins off them before the expansion draft though. Doesn't have to be the Eichel deal but we have a spot open to protect a goalie and that's the prime candidate as they will lose him to the Kraken if they don't deal him somewhere.

Elvis is exempt from the Expansion Draft so they have no need to move a goalie.

That is a very interesting choice.

The "value" in terms of tiers is very close, IMO.

Dach was a #3 pick who has generally lived up to that billing but hasn't proven himself to be more than say Dylan Strome. I think both elements still have a "mystery box" element, but the "nearly here" and 1st-line centre projection elements favour Dach.

I don't think people tend to appreciate how Comtois is the best player of this bunch right now. He has proven the most in the NHL and is still young and experienced enough to have upside. I don't think people consider him in terms of being worth pick #12 but he is already at the level of what an average pick 12 becomes.

Personally, I'd pick Reichel, but in terms of value, he and Perrault are almost impossible to separate.

So if the Ducks are offer a 4th piece, that is very relevant

In terms of what I like (which seems to be in line with what Adams talks), I like the Ducks offer.

I covet a player like Comtois, I covet a player like Eklund, I covet a player like Beniers. I am a little worried that Kirby Dach is too passive a player and personality to be a 1C. I think he could be a Tyler Myers type who always leaves you looking for more.

That said, the talent and the chemistry with Cozens is very tempting.

I mean when has Dach had a chance to prove it?  He was rushed to the NHL and played really well in the playoffs. This year he was ready to dominate the WJCs, has a freak wrist injury that derailed his season. If he had played last year in juniors like he should have he would have put up 80-90 points. This season was a complete injury write off.

why are people acting like he is a 24 year old burnout?

  6. Some serious underrating of Dach. He was ready to tear the WJCs apart with Cozens before the wrist injury. 6’4 power centre in the Getzlaf mould.  I would take him in a second in a Chicago deal.

I like all the young guys listed. With Rossi, they passed on him. Was it because they loved Quinn more but still liked Rossi or did they pass because they had issues with him?  I don’t think Byfield is an option, I would be shocked if L.A. moved him but if L.A. Feels the pressure to get a superstar today then maybe.  All the other guys would be good pieces to reset around.

LA may be out on Eichel but...

What about Reinhart, Risto (50% retained) for 9oa, Turcotte, Kempe, and Brock Faber.

Kings have 8th 0A, Canucks 9th OA, Sens 10th OA.

That would be a good return. My fairytale is that the Hawks fall short on Eichel and take this deal for Dach and 11th OA+. Not likely but it is fun to have dreams.😆

  8. Eichel for Fleury, Tuch, Krebs, Hague, 1st

MAF has to go for cap reasons. You agree to flip Fleury for assets since he won’t want to play for Buffalo next year. Tuch can be a leader today. Young forward prospect in Krebs, young dman in Hague, low 1st.

You could take that offer to Anaheim, Minny, Chicago, anyone else and hope they beat it.

I think that's closer his floor than his ceiling. He's a 50-70 player.

Krebs' is probably 60-65 unless he ends up on the wing of a star, and his floor is lower than Beniers.

Did you know that Krebs' production in his D+1 year that got everyone excited is slightly less than what Jack Quinn put up in his draft year?

    😁

    Zegras same Byfield

    Rossi

    Krebs

Zegras is similar to Mitts before this team tried to destroy him: skilled, WJC mvp, decent college year.  Not saying they are the same player but it is funny they were on similar paths before Buffalo development hell happened for Mitts.

Byfield has the biggest natural upside as a power centre but it will be if he gets there.  Rossi and Krebs are two way centres that can excel all over the ice. I would say Rossi is flashier, Krebs more workman like, both effective. Zegras has a sex appeal to his game but I don’t know how strong him Byfield will be defensively.
