  1. Jack Eichel and the 1 OA pick should never be moved in the same trade. That is beyond idiotic.

Karmanos being the grownup in the room gives me more calm.  Terry just isn’t going to tell KA to make a terrible deal. Karmanos voice as a bet front office person will hold weight.

If not, we are all DOOOOOOOOOOMMMMEEEDDDD!!!!!!!!😂

Eklund probably played as long and difficult a season as anyone.  He played 40 games in a pro league that is at least on par with the AHL.  He wasn’t underexposed, he was just in Sweden.

Not under exposed for scouts but for fans as not many people over here saw him.  If he played in the WJCs or WCs then more fans over here would have a better read on him.

Honest question, who received the better player in the Islander-Leafs trade with Tavares?? Yes I know it wasn't a trade but who would have figured the Islanders would be in the semi's this year and the Leafs haven't gotten out of the 1st round yet. The problem is does whatever haul the Sabres get make them a better team in the long run and if so why would anyone care if it meets who's ever criteria for what makes a good trade?

Isles strength is their structure.  It replaces the need to rely on one or two superstars to carry the ball.  They play as a team.  That is why I like the idea of Lane Lambert. It would help a team with no stars compete and get better as they rebuild.  The key is structure that works to win games, not the garbage Krueger was doing.

I would rather get Zegras and the 2022 1st from Anaheim: If Eichel has a setback with the neck, the Ducks could be high in the lottery again, and the 2022 Draft is great at the top.

Thing is with 2021 1st you get 3rd pick. No way is Anaheim giving up an unprotected 2022 1st pick. It will be lottery protected in some way.

I believe that’s Why He has the Associate Head Coach Title

He has it because Washington weren’t going to let him go to the Island as an assistant coach. That is a lateral move and teams don’t have to allow lateral moves. Giving him Associate Head Coach title makes it a promotion and teams can’t stand in the way of promotions.  He is probably the guy to replace Trotz though if he doesn’t get a HC job somewhere else.

As well as Granato did, and I saw improvement from several players as well as a better attitude, , he went 9-16 and I don't think that's a good enough record for him to be retained. I'd much rather have a coach with a lot of experience winning in the NHL. A Boudreau or a Gallant. Also if I was Eichel, I'd simply sit out this entire upcoming year and let it heal completely. I think if he comes back too soon or surgically tries to fix it, whatever team he's on, he'll be courting disaster.

Who played net in those games? Do you think Boudreau and Gallant would do better with those goalies in net?  I have no problem if someone preferring Boudreau or Gallant but can’t support Granato’s record with those goalies as a reason to not consider him.

Friedman wonders if Adams is waiting to talk to Lane Lambert

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lambert was a good AHL coach in Milwaukee, was promoted to Nashville with Trotz, followed him to Washington, Trotz made him Associate Head Coach so he could move from Washington to the Island with him.  I think he has a lot to do with the structure the Isles play with.

  8. I have always got the impression that Eichel has been a cancer.  From Gionta and Gorges saying the young guys won’t take any advice to his demeanour and body language to the team never playing above their level under his leadership. I think Adams has figured out what he is all about and wants to cut bait and rebuild with high character, skilled players that will come together as a team.

I’m not throwing all the Sabres problems at Jack’s feet but I think he has had a big hand in a team that was more divided then cohesive.

I have no problem if they trade him BUT they have to get value.

This guy works for McKeen's and released his personal rankings. These rankings were released today which is after the Worlds in case Hoss wants to yell about that again.

If you look at them on twitter he also has a thread explaining 1-10 including why Power is where he is and what he thinks of Beniers.

Power has flaws but could be best player in the draft. Wallstadt the best goalie prospect he has ever seen. Lysell 3rd, “he is bae”. This guy sounds 12. LOL I was waiting to read, “I have Clarke 5th because he has a dope playlist on his Instagram account Brah!!”

There are no real tiers in the top ten so you could switch the names around as you want and no one can argue in 5 years you would be wrong. The player at 10 could be the best player chosen this year.  I agree Power has flaws, he needs a couple years to improve those. Eklund is very underexposed this year, we didn’t get to see him in any tournaments.  He might be the best player but 5’10 wingers don’t usually go 1OA without Kane skill. It is a funny year though so who knows.

What if the best return for Eichel comes with the condition that the Sabres the retain some salary.
Maximum of 1.5 to 2 Million per year.
    Do you make the deal?

Yes if the deal is worth it.  For instance if Anaheim offers Zegras, Comtois, Henrique and 2022 lottery protected 1st or Zegras, Comtois, Henrique and #3 OA if we retain $2 million then I do it. Trading Jack means rebuild which means not near the cap for 3 or 4 years anyways so it won’t kill you.

Edvinsson has all the tools in his toolbox but he doesn't pull out the correct tool for the job he needs more often then I would be comfortable with. My issue is that the production isn't there and really all anyone talks about is he is a good skater and big which they then say means he is just raw and needs refinement. He isn't raw, he just isn't that great at the little things needed to be successful. I personally think he will bust after a couple years in the NHL or will be a 3rd pairing type of guy.

I see him similar to Power but Power has a high hockey IQ while Edvinsson’s is in question.

The Sabres could do a heckuva lot worse than a good Trotz protege, if that's what Lambert is.

He was a good AHL Head Coach and then coached under Trotz in Nashville, Washington, and Trotz made him Associate Head Coach so he could move from Washington to the Isles.

  13. After watching the Isles make the conference Finals again I sure hope Lane Lambert is on their list. He is a big part of the structure they play with. His title is Associate Head Coach  but I think he would be ready for a Head Coaching gig.

Apparently He is very well connected with the Kings FO (Rob Blake I believe)

Could also be Kings FO using him as negotiating ploy like most GMs use Dreger. The article is useless, it doesn’t even say they want Jones. Says long term RHD is set, they need a LHD and two forwards.

dylan guenther find one weakness in his game besides adding weight which beniers needs also

He's everything you want (2 - way player, sniper, playmaker,  Penalty killer, power play,  Motor that never stops and so on

    Showing up in big tournaments.😜

  16. Just to clarify, Lance isn’t saying those are the only 3 players they are debating for 1 OA. He talked to the Michigan goalies about the three players that will be top 10 picks in the draft that all play for Michigan.

I think the real debate will be Power, Beniers or maybe Eklund. I don’t even know who the their European scout is at this point.  Eklund hasn’t had much exposure this season over here. He didn’t play in the WJCs and was supposed to play in the WCs but got injured. Not many 5’10 LW go first overall. He doesn’t have the Patrick Kane level of skill to push him over the top. It is a weird draft and a weird year though so who knows.

Seth Jones is not a top pairing defenseman on a good team.

Spoiler Alert: We are not a good team.😀 I wouldn’t like that trade for Buffalo for a number of reasons. I was just stating that it wasn’t a terrible return, just not right for what the Sabres should be doing if they move Jack.

  18. https://jhanhky.substack.com/p/should-owen-power-go-1st-overall

Guys, tell me if you can see this article. It is thru subscription so I don’t know if everyone can see it.

They break down some video on Power.  They compare him to Mortez Seider. Some interesting stuff. State that he sacrifices some offence by being in motion in the offensive zone to open up options and space for forwards rather then staying stationary at the point to shoot more.  Definitely thinks he needs another year in college/AHL in order to bring along his offensive game/dominate. He thinks Power has all the positive projectables but the offence hasn’t quite developed yet vs. A guy like Clarke that has the offence but the projectables like skating a dzone are lacking and that those are much tougher to correct.
