If we traded Reinhart to Seattle then we better also have them taking Okposo or Risto in the expansion draft as am a top 10 pick from and expansion team doesn't thrill me. As none of these kids bring to the table what Sam can in 2021.

Could you imagine: Reino to Seattle for number 2, they take Skinner in the expansion draft after he waives) they pick a couple of players from Seattle after the expansion draft and Skinner being gone opens the door for Brind’Amour to come and coach.🤪😜

  2. Yes, usually  end of June for hockey ops. Brind’Amour is end of June. I wonder if he is waiting until July just to see what is out there before deciding on Carolina.

I think Brind’Amour’s situation and Lane Lambert are the two people holding up a Sabres coaching hire.

The draft is end of July so I don’t know how it works for front office/scouts this season.  I doubt the NHL wants a bunch of them switching teams weeks before the draft so they might not be hockey ops hires til end of July.

Poor asset management is a big reason. I'm looking at you, Tim Murray.

Not signing Hagel was ridiculous by Botts. He is the perfect bottom 6 winger for this team. Adds jam and was in house. What a waste of an asset.

Just had flashbacks to ppl trying to convince me the ROR was not total trash because a 1st and Tage. At least Zegras and 3rd are significantly better options.

Huge difference. Thompson, late 1st, Sobotka and Berglund was hot garbage the second it was made. That collection as never going to supersede ROR.

Zegras and 3 OA are top end pieces that could easily turn out to be more effective to the Sabres then Eichel. Zegras+Beniers or Zegras+Guenther or Zegras+Eklund could be driving this team 3 years from now.

The Islanders got literally nothing for Tavares.

Relax. Losing the trade won't be the end of days.

“Losing the trade” is always dependent on timeline.

Lets say the trade was Zegras and 3 OA for Jack. Did they lose the trade? Maybe today but 3 years from now they may have won it if Zegras develops into a star centre and the 3 OA pick becomes an impact player as well.

SabreMike is so uplifting. Let's wait for evidence against KA/Karmonis. Agee some posters ignore Kadmanos. We need a separate thread for bashing the management and use this thread for trades/rumors.

Agreed. Karmanos has 3 Cups to his name. He has been in a front office for almost 20 years. He is very good friends with Adams so the communication is honest between them.  People just love to ignore him.

  6. A 28 year old Owen Power😜. If you aren’t going 7 years you aren’t getting him.  He is going to have a lot of teams interested in overpaying him that are much more competitive.  He is not strong defensively. If he played here he would be exposed big time. If Eichel and Reinhart were here and Skinner and Okposo’s deals were off the books then he would be a guy to take a big run at but I don’t think it makes sense with the current state of the team.

More like teams are licking their chops at the thought of swindling the most grossly unqualified GM in hockey history, stooge of the worst owner in modern NHL history. There will be nothing but lowball offers until the unqualified stooge accepts one.

The problem with this narrative is that there is a very qualified, vet GM in the room in Karmanos, no one is swindling him on anything.

Anaheim’s GM is under pressure to win from ownership.

Dreger mentioned He could see the Kings circling back to Eichel.

    Your Minnesota Proposal is intriguing.

Dreger also mentioned that the Sabres are telling other teams that We are not moving Jack unless they get a return they feel is worthy.

They need two or three teams to get into a bidding war, lf they are moving Jack it needs to happen

Bob Murray under pressure to win now from ownership would be perfect for Buffalo.  And Murray is a guy who would like Risto for his physical play. He is an old school GM.

I would go hard at Anaheim with a Jack, Risto package and see what pieces you can grab.  To me Zegras and 3 OA are the pieces I would say have to be included and then see what else you can do from there.

Travis Yost suggested Vegas and Colorado get into the mix.

Vegas would start with Tuch and Krebs

    Colorado would start with Newhook.

I mean Colorado has to start with Byram. He is their best piece.  Byram, Newhook, +

Tuch would be a great piece to play with Jack.  If they are trading Jack then Tuch is less appealing to me as a main piece. Krebs is an OK piece but I don’t see the appeal of a Vegas package.

With these higher clubs, their 1sts are at the end of the round which is far less appealing.  Meaning they have to add better quality prospects to the mix.

  10. Has there been a lot of smoke about Anaheim being interested?  They would probably be the best trade partner but from their end I just don’t see the appeal.  They are in a rebuild. Giving up young pieces for Eichel doesn’t make a ton of sense. They don’t have much up front to play with Eichel. Unless ownership has told Murray to get a new star.

If they are really interested then I could see Murray being a guy that is enamoured with Risto.

Ducks top pieces are Zegras, #3 pick, Drysdale.  I think you have to get two of those pieces.  Zegras and #3 would be ideal. Comtois is a good young winger too, maybe if Risto is involved then he might be a piece coming back.

I think Minny is a more realistic partner. Guerin has that team going and they need a number 1 centre to play with Kaprizov. A package around Boldy, Rossi, 1st round pick would be an interesting return.

  11. He has already said he would enjoy being drafted by Buffalo.

He was mentioning going back to Michigan about a month  ago so this isn’t anything new.  It would be best for him anyways. He has things to work on and 18 year old dmen don’t fare well in the NHL.

The bottom line is when you get a player of the caliber of Jack, and you are trading him 5 years later, that’s a serious failure of a franchise. Something went really wrong.

The GM looking like his dog got run over when they lost the lottery and we’re stuck with Eichel probably wasn’t the best start.

I look at it as 50/50.  The organization can’t get out of its own way and has made mistake after mistake.  But I also see a very talented player whose on ice performance and attitude have never lived up to expectations.  Louie Lams would have shipped Eichel and his attitude out the door a couple years ago.

My one hope of hopes is if Eichel is punted and next year is bad is that there is a superstar centre with a great attitude and leadership skills sitting there in Shane Wright if lightning would strike twice in the lottery. (Sign Hall to a one year deal.😁)

This has been posted but please listen. It really is worth hearing about Power and what issues he has. "You don't want to end up in another situation where you have a Rasmus Ristolainen"

And by Risto, he means a player that was pushed into the NHL before he was ready and fed monster minutes. He was never put in a position to develop and succeed.  Power does have things to work on and going back to Michigan is the absolute best move for him. Let him play in college, play in the WJCs and re-evaluate  him at the end of next season.

It’s still the type of deal that scares me because you could ultimately end up empty handed. If Zegras and Comtois fail to progress you’re left with nothing for one of the best players in franchise history.

One of the best talents in franchise history, not one of the best players.  He has lead this team nowhere close to a single playoff spot.  Not all his fault be he has not driven this bus anywhere but the basement.  If his attitude is toxic then you are losing paying him $10 million a year, you can probably do better using that money on 2 guys with better attitudes who are ready to buy in to a culture.
