  1. I've been moderately to severely overweight since I was about 10 years old. Three years ago I made a commitment to start living a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy food most of the time, in the correct portions, and exercising regularly. I was approaching 40 and had no doubt that I'd be very lucky to see 50 if I did not make major changes. Well, this week I finally hit my goal weight! Three years ago I weighed an embarrassing 305 lbs, today I weigh 173. Total loss of 132 lbs. Went from 3x shirts to M's, from a 52" waist to 34". Doing my first half-marathon later this year. I feel F'n fantastic. :)
  2. Pat Benatar. EDIT: just saw your post above.
  3. Oh, you're trying to bust somebody else? If I ever come across the ticket stub I'll scan it for you and send it to you. Also, I'll ask my buddy who I went with if he has his handy, and I'll let you know...
  4. Thanks, but I have to give credit to Deluca for the idea. He suggested it months ago, and while at the time I thought it premature...it sure has been feeling alot like SOS (Same Old Sabres) lately. I'm not hitting the panic button yet...but for me the hand broke through the ground when the whole team turtled in the Boston game, and has been slowly rising since.
  5. That avatar is tremendous. Surprised nobody has rolled out a Bumble avatar yet (and somewhat relieved since he still scares the sh!t outta me).
  6. Haha, I have no idea. I didn't have it framed or anything. I suppose I could dig through all the old crap in my basement to try to find it, but you (apparently) not believing me is not nearly enough incentive to make me want to do that. :nana:
  7. He's riffing on how many people in WNY falsely claim that they were at that game. I did go, and I have my ticket stub to prove it. It was the only game I went to that year. Definitely one of the top-two experiences of my sports life, along with 51-3.
  8. Very glad to hear about your brother, that is fantastic. Even though my cousin was told by the doctors that "there's nothing more we can do", he is still getting treatments at Roswell so he definitely has not given up yet. Ya never know. Oh and one more complaint, though obviously minor: this rain is ridiculous. My sump-pump is kicking on every 20 seconds or so. I'd rather have snow.
  9. Cancer. Just found out my cousin who is only in his 30s has cancer in his spine, and only 1 month to live. :(
  10. At most hardware stores you can buy a little battery-powered water alarm for about $10. Just set it on the floor near the sump pump and you'll never have that problem again (although if it happens when nobody is home of course it won't help).
  11. Yeah I'd definitely love to see more flashbacks to fill in the back stories of all these characters, and show exactly how the world went to hell.
  12. Why, is this Sunday the last episode already? If so, it would take a truly tremendous episode to salvage this rather disappointing season.
  13. Dude, you made it sound like finding out would be some big payoff. When I found out they were just family it was kind of a letdown. Nothing sinister about it, just dumb.
  14. The Onion nails it as usual: http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/sports-media-asks-molestation-victims-what-this-me,26609/
  15. He was in Soul Coughing in the 90s. His solo stuff is very solid.
  16. I know it will never happen but this riff is sick and I always thought it would make a great sports intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BusOupjBJaY
  17. Exactly. I'm sure the cop would probably rather be doing something more interesting as well.
  18. I'm seriously contemplating a mid-life (I'm 42) career change into the medical field...back to school, starting a degree from scratch, the whole nine yards. I haven't been to college in over 20 years, and I've worked for myself for the last 15 years. In my head I know it's probably a smart decision, but it's really, really scary. :(
  19. Pegula. I'm still basking in the glow of it all. :)
  20. Way back when I had my bike (when I was in college), I was driving my buddy to work in the morning so he was on the back of my rig. While I'm driving along he somehow managed to get a large wasp inside his full-face helmet (well, it was my extra helmet). Needless to say he ripped that helmet off pretty damn fast and I was soon watching it bounce along the asphalt behind us in my mirror. Luckily he didn't panic and jump off the bike, lol. I'm just glad that happened to him and not to me, the driver!
  21. That is a fantastic point, I'd never thought of that. I can remember plenty of times getting blasted in the visor by a giant bumblebee and wondering wtf that would have done to me if I were one of those anti-helmet dudes (or even anti-visor).
  22. Thanks. Both were sad obviously, but one was particularly tragic because our friend died in his early 20's just two weeks before he was to be married.:( Be safe everybody, it can all be over in an instant.
  23. Had a Yamaha cruiser back when I was young and I really miss it. My wife has asked me not to get another bike and I respect her wishes. I know how dangerous they are (well, they aren't particularly dangerous...it's the other jagoffs on the road that make it dangerous). We've actually had two separate friends of ours get killed while riding, so I can't really blame my wife for not wanting me to ride. I sure do miss it though, there really is nothing else that compares to the feeling of having that much acceleration available with a flick of your wrist.
