  1. So why take chances on travel and transmission? Tennessee made checking for COVID19 shots illegal. Missouri have the delta variant going nuts according to Axios. Texas and Florida have lower vaccination rates that most of the hockey-based states.
  2. You have the wrong thing that he tosses in the air and lands on the ground. They become "chips" at some point.
  3. He's the kind of guy they could move to a cap-strapped team for cap relief.
  4. I do. Starting with 2013-4, we have iced a team where at least 1 line which got routinely caved in and at least 1 defencive pairing which could not cover a song at karaoke let alone opposing players. The environment did not help, but the lack of talent was apparent -- XGMTM signed barely NHL-quality defencemen; XGMJB could not find NHL-quality forwards. This year, if we were not losing Eichel and Reinhart, we would be in the first year since 2012-3 where we would have iced 4 clear NHL-quality lines and 3 clear NHL-quality defence pairs -- albeit not necessarily high end for either. And BOOM -- there it goes
  5. Welcome to the board. I wish we could get Eriksson Ek.
  6. If only it goes that well. An unexpected playoff round next year would be extraordinarily encouraging.
  7. I am shock to find that gambling is going on in here. (Your winnings, sir.)
  8. Sometimes I think they know less about the Sabres -- much less.
  9. If they want to minimise travel, and they should, they absolutely should do most of the season with the back-to-backs. There is now the Delta Variant to avoid and teams are still hurting financially due to the pandemic. And less travel would put less strain on the players. Heck, they might begin to like it. If they go all out, expect a lot 6 game Canadian road trips in the East and 8 game Canadian Road trips in the west. I imagine they might have a lot of Minnesota-Winnipeg and Seattle-Vancouver pairings to begin jaunts through Western Canada. Canadian teams probably do 6-8 game trips in the US to cut down on their travel. I would expect a lot of 3 opponents for 6 games in 10 night home stands; ditto with road trips. I personally would cut down the number of road trip to the other conference to 4 groups of 4 of 4 teams each.
  10. <politics> A non-zero number of people have voted for the party which destroys jobs in the state and chases our people out with zeal, vigour, and alacrity, so it would be just for the community to get a permanent black eye for it. </politics> If GMKA and HCDG don't work, expect another set of rookie hires. This has been TP's pattern for decades; he is not changing his ideas of how to run an operation because of the Sabres. Any hope for a veteran GM or veteran Coach to right the ship is a forlorn one.
  11. <politics> I would prefer not going to the Olympics to protest the CCP's treatment of Uyghurs and Hong Kong. </politics>
  12. Every time this comes up, my head starts to hurt.
  13. Buffalo fights above its weight class in several things. Pizzerias, the arts, and hockey fan support are three of them. Per capita, the metro area is quite poor, though, and has been declining with the rest of upstate for decades.
  14. Even though he is apparently out until December?
  15. BTG turned down an offer from Balsilie that was in excess of $200M. I have it from a personal source and three other sources. I am 100% certain.
  16. The posts in this thread are mighty piscatorial.
  17. I wonder if teams will do long Canadian and American road trips to avoid border crossings. Three games for eastern conference trips and 4 games on western conference trips. Ditto for Canadian teams playing in the US -- minimum 3 game road trips.
  18. Rumour was that they did offer 13, 14, and 15 for #3 (Noah Hanifin). If true, they certainly would have coughed that up and maybe a bit more for Eichel.
