I mention Kyle being platooned. Keeps him fresher, gives ice to someone like Rousek or Jost. As for the concussion comment, Kyle knows the risks his is taking. I trust that Adams and DG understand if this group still needs him. Let’s hope Kyle stays healthy and productive, and the team makes the playoffs. That will be another positive step for the organization in culture setting.

Put the Sabres teams of the last decade in Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Az, Anaheim, Carolina, and those franchises would have folded. It’s amazing that Buffalo draws anything given the Pegula Era of hockey.

I think KO is a good signing but I expect he will be platooned a lot this season to keep him fresh as the season progresses. There are numerous claims in several threads that the Sabres would start the season with 3 or 4 more rookies. Signing Kyle makes these fantasies hard to reach. I think Zemgus could get an offer that we won’t match. I also think Olofsson will be traded. That will open up one or two slots for a rookie to crack. If we lose Z we need another bottom 6 vet imo, last I checked our PK was the dregs.

I agree with your take on how you evaluated Eichel. I will add that had Eichel gone to another team in an early rebuilding state he might still look like Buffalo Jack. Vegas Jack benefits greatly from the veteran leadership on that team.

This team has the potential to be very good for a long time if they can develop and manage the talent properly. They are loaded.

All five of them were in the don’t want to be here category. Eichel, Reino, Risto were in both categories, they did not want to stay and Adams needed to turn the culture around, meaning they go. These three were big influences on the culture, and like it or not, they were not at that point in their careers the type of leaders to help do it. They all had enough of the circus that became the Buffalo Sabres. Can’t blame them, but I am not going to defend them either. Adam’s traveled with the team, he saw what was happening and being a former player he knew the team needed a big makeover. Adam’s talked to all of them and was open with them, which players will always appreciate. If Montour would have said “Kevyn I want to be here to help turn this around” there is no way he gets traded for a paltry 3rd rounder. We did not get enough for Montour, especially at the trade deadline, but we got a lot for Risto. Trades don’t always work our perfectly.

I agree. I’m also not the one complaining about the missed calls. Just stating that judgement calls will be wrong at times, and sometimes they are crucial and can cost you a goal because defensive zone face offs are important. If the league was worried about player safety they could do a lot more than this silly rule.

I like the original rule. Play it out the old school way. now it is a judgement call, so there will be times they judge it wrong.

Well, you are looking back. A lot of people are because so many former players are doing well on their new teams. Why single out Reinhart, when no one on the Sabres played this hard (as in playoff level hard) during those years? The playoffs are another level of competition, one that they did not ever experience.
