Sabres sign Justin Danforth 2 years 1.8 million AAV

Maybe we trade the second line for draft choices and just run 2 fourth lines? -

Adams loves to fine tune his 4th line players, his 6/7/8 defenders, and his 3rd goalies Always a step ahead on the fringes. -
Could be because they need to also sign competent NHL players too!

6'4". 230 lbs \ fights, I guess? AHL 4th liner. Adams with a big splash

OT: Change to Production of Sabres Broadcasts
Pimlach replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
Too critical? So fire the long tenured producer who does not even go on TV and say anything? The job is being posted for a kid recently out of college who will make less than half the money of Joe Pinter. Maybe the new person will make it better but this is EEE at every turn. -
Johnson didn't hit anyone in his rushed tenure but ok, he came to Buffalo so lets be happy for him.

Sabres trade Sam Lafferty to Chicago for a 2026 6th Round Pick
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The JBD thing has me puzzled. How is he worse than Bryson? Anyone have any fancy stats on this? -

It only serves to show how clueless the GM really is. -
Sabres sign UFA Goaltender Alex Lyon to 2 year 1.5 million dollar contract

Adams' proactive approach is really working <sarcasm intended> -

Yes, for Adams it is too much for ask for. He would be a blocker for Levi. Lyon and UPL - two backups that get hot on occasion. That sounds about right. -
Radim Mrtka, 6'6" RHD drafted 9th overall by Sabres
Pimlach replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
We are talking Pegula Sabres here and you are applying the logic of the other 31 teams. Could mean Lindy's next move is upstairs to the VP level, not out. It also looks more like a Jarmo draft, so there is also that to consider. -
What am I expecting?

The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?
Pimlach replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
What thread is getting messy and off track. It is way to early in the off season to think we improved this team. Post season needs: Goalie, Top 4 RDH, 2 top 6 forwards (with Peterka gone), better defensive depth, more physical players that play a 2 way game. Are we better than last year here today on June 30? NFW. They lost Peterka and Clifton, they re-signed Quinn. They picked up Kesserling (he will slot into a top 4 RHD), Doan (maybe a 3rd line player, maybe not), and Timmins (a 3rd pair D in place of Clifton and for less $$). We used 9OA for a future player who is 3 years away. Are we better? Not yet. Not enough to matter anyway. We are still questionable at center just like last year plus we have not replaced Peterka yet, and the goalies are UPL and Levi. There are a lot of questions: Will we get big years out of Thompson, Dahlin, Norris, and Tuch? Production: Will Quinn replace Peterka's production? Will Benson improve offensively? Will Zucker and McLoed score 20 each again? Will this new defense be better? Will Byram be moved or re-signed? Will UPL ever be a top caliber NHL starting goalie? Is Levi ready to make a big jump? We have the same coaching staff in place, the only change was strength and conditioning. I like some of the players that they brought in but all are young and none are big impact players. I am skeptical. Just based on the goaltending alone this is not a playoff team. -
We wont know until they see how they play together but Doan will be pushing to crack the line up.
-
Picking up a first line forward is a must. Next, they extended Quinn, he needs to take a big step this season. You are missing Doan. Doan should get a good long look at 3rd line ice time. Lindy must want some jam - Doan and Benson, or Doan and Greenway in certain situations.

I would let Dallas decide that on Byram. If they’re not interested so be it. Move on. Dallas has a big cap problem and Robertson could be available. The fear that Byram is pursuing a long term bonanza contract is a bit wild. He really has not proven he is worth that, and in Buffalo he doesn’t get the opportunity to prove he is worth a big contract, in Buffalo Dahlin is #1, and Power is being favored as the #2 power play defenseman. Leaving Byram out Byram may be happy to sign bridge with a contender like Dallas, or any other contender. Or he may like to join an up and coming team that needs his skills? We don't know what he wants, we only know he allegedly moved his stuff out of Buffalo, yet he says he is interested in re-signing.
-
No doubt Byram is worth more than Samuelsson, he is the 2nd best defender on the team. I know you like Zucker but he is not a top 6 forward on a playoff team. Adam’s has signed several of these vets over the years (recall E Staal, Hall, E Johnson) and only Zucker has panned out, that route is not certain at all. I am aiming for Robertson, not a Zucker type of signing. Package Byram for Robertson and now we more than replaced Peterka.

Do You Like The JJP for Kesselring/Doan Trade RIGHT NOW?
Pimlach replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
I hardly noticed the body language to be honest. He didn’t care for Ruff, and he really should be sick of losing, and he could have hated the “solution in the room” dysfunctional speech, and maybe he was looking for another city with more to offer? When he changed agents that said it all. I think his career will take off, he defensive game will improve. -

I think Kesserling and Doan will help the team round out the roster - but neither are proven at the roles projected for them. A scoring top 6 winger should be worth more IMO. I hate the fact that another home grown talent like Peterka asked to leave and got his wish. -

I hope so. Loved the way Shane played. -

There is more moves to be made for sure, this is not close to enough. Add a high skill forward (Robertson) and add a wrecking ball forward that is middle 6 skilled. And as usual, get an NHL goalie. Stop praying for UPL and Levi to bloom.
