  1. Just because its early in the season does not mean this isn't a huge game. Its Toronto, that should be enough, but there is more at stake. Points in October count just as much as they do in March. The Sabres have to stay in contention in the standings. Tonight is a 4 point game. It is a home game that might look like a road game. It is time for this team to start to jell. Play every night like that Florida game. Lyon should be in goal tonight.
  2. That would be good. But I dream that he evolves closer to his father’s production of 402 goals, 972 points, 1353 PIM, 1540 GP. no pressure kid.
  3. I'll say. With the back to back Toronto games he should use Lyon and Ellis. Bringing up UPL means someone, possibly a forward, has to go.
  4. Crazy. Why not leave him down there for the next week and give Ellis another game? I wanted to see Lyon on Friday, and Ellis on Saturday. Leave UPL down and get him really ready. Unless they have a trade partner lined up and they want to see UPL in NHL action? WTF?
  5. Give UPL his 2 weeks of rehab. Give Ellis another game or two in that period. Bring up UPL and go with 3 for awhile until you can trade one of them for something.
  6. I think Kozak game is passing Krebs right now. Given all the injuries we will have more games to compare them and really get a closer look. Krebs gave us 10 goals, playing a lot on the 4th line last season. He logged 81 games and was +1. I don't dislike Krebs but if Kozak can be 4C then Krebs could be packaged for help somewhere else. When UPLs AHL assignment ends I would carry 3 goalies for awhile just to compare Ellis and UPL. Lyon is the #1 until proven otherwise. Or we waive Ellis and risk losing him to a goalie poor team, of which there are several.
  7. I think Norris' timeline was 1 month but I am not sure. Tage is taking heat here at Sabre Space. 7 games with 1 goal, 4 points and a -7 is not helping. He is pressing out there no doubt. I expect he will get on a hot streak and the goals will come.
  8. Yeah, Benson has a motor, so does Doan. We need to add more players like this. Maybe Helenius someday? Kozak - I would not call him high motor as in high speed, but he plays smart-motor, he is steady and efficient. When Mike Peca was an Amerks coach he spoke highly of Kozak and thought he had good potential. I think we are seeing that now. Maybe Kozak could project to a 10-12 goal 4C, and one that can shut down the opponent. He looks sturdy and he plays a smart game. He is just 22, but I can see him being a savvy vet someday. His AHL days could be coming to an end and he has to clear waivers to go back to Rochester. It will be interesting when UPL, Greenway, Danforth, and Norris come back. If we keep 3 goalies for awhile what will we do with the excess forwards? Gertie will be waived. Kozak vs Krebs is an interesting decision for Adams. As well as Danforth vs Malenstyn vs Greenway.
  9. I think he bent his left wrist, it may have curled under too much, from the contact and followed by the pushing off.
  10. Zucker is one of the few that doesn’t get rattled. He still has the ability to score and will be needed if this team is going to progress.
  11. Lyon is playing very good hockey so far, people are ignoring that while he is steady, he did not carry Detroit to the playoffs. Ellis had one good game. Some fans here are yearning for a hero. UPL has never looked like the answer except for one stint, but the Sabres will need to get him ready and showcase him. Either he wins games or he gets moved. The goalie situation will take some time to play out.
  12. This says a lot. A clean face off win and after that they made a series of mistakes. Cheating the game. Good analysis.
  13. I was happy to see Doan coming to Buffalo. Word out west is that he played with a high motor. Comparables to his Dad’s work ethic and personality were flattering, but can he finish? That is the question. So far in Buffalo he is making things happen and bringing a work ethic to the rink that Buffalo fans want to see. It’s early, but Doan is settling in. Hope the long winter doesn’t bother him, he is a desert kid.
  14. Well we saw one game from Ellis. He was good and he shows poise and mental strength. I think he needs to work on absorbing the puck more to prevent rebounds and better control the flow of the game. I need to see more. Kozak looks better than Krebs to me. Östlund played over 9 minutes, was +2 and had 1 shot, 1 hit, 1 blocked shot. I have to see more of Östlund to say he brings more than Krebs, but his ceiling is much higher and I’m pulling for some center help from Rochester this year.
  15. He has to give him a few games and UPL will probably win them and that will paralyze Adams.
  16. Tuch helped create two goals with his net front screens. He contributes in other ways. His PK work was also excellent.
