  1. The Oil take game 1. They have a 70% chance of winning it all now. McDavid to Draisaitl
  2. Most people do not notice it doesn’t say Budweiser on the can. Wonder why?
  3. The source of his departure was the trade of Ryan Miller. LaFontaine wanted to keep Miller to help them through the tank/rebuild. Which would have been smart to keep a few guys that cared on the team.
  4. They owe it all to advertising.
  5. The Mexican Navy ship looks like something from the Spanish Armada.
  6. I guess I am expecting more from voters/hockey writers. I would have thought the season that Tuch had would get him top 5 in votes.
  7. I am surprised at some of the names getting votes. How does Mathews get more Selke votes than Tuch?
  8. Didn’t Neces already say no to a Buffalo trade? Why would Utah trade 4OA for Norris?
  9. Like what Murray and Terry Pegula did to Pat LaFontaine? That worked out well ...
  10. Too many games, too many teams, not enough true star players to go around, and the season is way too long.
  11. What is truly sad is reading the Fairburn article and finding out that Terry Pegula thought that the signing of the lazy and overrated Taylor Hall would make the Sabres Cup contenders. And Adams agreed. Two completely incompetent people are at the helm.
  12. You don't believe that Beane is implementing Pegula's vision with the Bills do you? Beane is implementing his own vision (along with McDermott's) and it happens to be one that Terry agrees with. Luckily, Terry's son did not play Pop Warner Football.
  13. I was shown how to get access to the article. Adams is defensive on his qualifications for the job but there is no doubt he has been way over his head and that Terry hired him to control everything. From the Fairburn article: On Oct. 11, 2020, five months after hiring Adams, Pegula stood inside his new general manager’s office. At that point, Adams had no assistant GMs. His director of scouting was Jeremiah Crowe, who had three years of pro scouting experience before getting elevated to that role. The analytics department was Jason Nightengale. This was the first day of NHL free agency. Pegula and Adams discussed the possibility of signing Taylor Hall to a one-year, $8 million contract. Hall had won the Hart Trophy two years earlier with a 39-goal, 54-assist season for the New Jersey Devils. The Sabres had failed to qualify for the expanded 24-team playoff during the pandemic, extending their playoff drought to nine seasons. "We sign this guy,” Pegula said to Adams in a behind-the-scenes video released by the Sabres, “we’re not only trying to make the playoffs. We’re trying to win the Cup.” “Yeah,” Adams said. “I mean this is … yeah.” This is dysfunction at the highest levels. Terry was clueless to think that signing Taylor Hall, and underachiever for most of his career, made his Oct 2020 roster a playoff roster, yet he thinks it made them a cup contender. This would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.
  14. Danny got there early to check out Canalside.
  15. Initially I did not like the idea of trading Peterka but if we can package him for Robertson I am definitely interested. Dallas would like a young top 6 guy like Peterka and he would like the glamour and glitz of Dallas. (They gotta lotta' nice girls, yeah.) Robertson improves our top 6 and gives us options. Send in Jarmo!
  16. Indeed, the game may have passed him by, but the Leafs were just mediocre the year before he came back. They fell apart and then fled to the Norris division to deliberately get an easier go at it. That also backfired. He was the last to win a Cup in Toronto.
  17. That was the same year @JohnC graduated from high school. He never read the book and his kids were gone before the movies came out.
  18. If all that infighting happens and it turns out as bad as you predict then Adams will also get fired with the rest. I think this bridges Adams to another role, maybe POHO, maybe back to the business side again. And it gives Jarmo and Terry a year to get acquainted. No way would the real Punch agree to anything but full control of Hockey Ops. That is also what brought Bowman to Buffalo, ownership made him GM and Coach, that was not happening on Montreal.
  19. They don't want the attention and no matter what moves they make all eyes turn to the historic drought and the owner.
  20. When were you the villain? Your interpretation on the subtleties of how the media covers this team is pretty good stuff.
  21. Beane was all in on Allen. He said after the pick and upon hearing all the resistance (the wrong Josh stuff) - "this guy is Buffalo". Terry may have also been all in on it but Beane is the guy that that gets credit and blame for the drafting.
  22. Why would you blame Larry Playfair for any of this? He still lives in WNY, and he was President of the Sabre's Alumni Association up to about 2012. I saw him last summer at the Harbor Center watching a Jr. Sabres game, it appeared that a group of Alumni were celebrating his birthday too. He took some time to talk about the "good old days" and he is a really good guy.
  23. I suspect he thought he was getting the next Martin Broduer.
