I assumed "hood" referred to the urban "neighborhood" pop culture use of the word. Especially since there were references to Bills Mafia in the thread. Sabrehood, as in brotherhood, is fine with me. The Bills Mafia backers say it was meant to refer to family. The Italian word for family is "famiglia", not mafia. Mafia refers to organized crime groups and that is a kind of "family" that most Italian-Americans have no connection to. the word mafia was most likely derived from uncomplimentary words to suggest male swagger and boldness. I am of Italian descent but not offended by Bills Mafia. The few family elders that I have left don't care for it and shrug it off.

Joe Rudi. There is name from the past. Rudi was a very good all around ballplayer and he was an important piece of the A’s championship teams that won 3 World Series in the early 70’s.

And I am actually excited to see what happens. Norris for Cozens could be a good move if Norris stays in the line-up. A healthy Norris is a better player than Cozens. Kesselring & Doan for JJP - we shall see, it could be a good trade. Lyons - I can hope Danforth/Timmins - ok, this could be improving the edges Ellis - I can wish for Binnington II, but I will take solid and steady. If he is good he could be a blocker to Levi, and yet Adams made the move, or maybe Jarmo made the move?

Maybe not, so far he has not been very successful, but he isn't sitting idle and resting on his reputation either. I assume he knows he is not long for the job unless they get a lot better right now. My point was that this is a highly competitive league and most teams make moves to improve year over year. Montreal and Ottawa got in last year. Washington had a big rebound year. I look at Boston, they missed the playoffs and wrote their fans a letter saying they were just as disappointed and they were still committed to winning - they have a big rebuild ahead. I look at St Louis, they missed the playoffs and replaced their coach mid season and somehow snuck into the playoffs and almost won the first round. The Buffalo Sabres? We are going to see if their moves improved the team, its a long season.

Are we allowed to say this? Last year it was met with scorn. I guess when you are eliminated by New Years Day it can get old?

I grew up loving the Yanks, it was a family tradition passed down from Dad and Uncles. The current Yankees are missing too many baseball intangibles that it takes to win a championship. The don't play the field well, they throw to the wrong bases, they are just average base runners, they have an unreliable bull pen, and they seem to score by home runs rather than clutch hitting up and down the line up. The Yanks have playoff wildcard talent but nothing in that mix that makes them special. I would like to see the Jays make a run at it.

No complaints. The PT appears to be working and I have much less glute and hip pain and the even the hammy lock-ups behind the knee are subsiding. Im on the upswing. It is still going to take more work but things seem to be improving. Gonna golf 18 holes tomorrow. Can’t wait.

I have no idea how this team will come out tonight. Lyon should be an improvement on last year’s UPL. Another year for Ruff to get through to them but this coaching staff does not impress me. Cornerstones like Tage, Dahlin, and Tuch need to demand more and set a higher standard. The defense without Kesselring looks like last year. They need a fast start.
