You can’t figure out Okposo’s deal?  Remember that part about how he has sustained repeated brain injuries that coincided with his decline in play?

He did score 45 points in 2017-2018 after his injury.   I would no longer expect 60+ with his age and the injury but he looks worse than last year and scoring at a slower pace.  In fact I think it’s completely fair to ask why E-rod, KO, Girgs and Vesey are not producing.  Rodrigues had 29 last year and has 1 assist this year.  Vesey is a perennial 15  goal guy with zero.   KO Andy Vlad are on the wrong side of 30 so you can expect some decline, but the others (and throw Sheary in this mix) are in their prime and I expect growth.  Instead it’s a regression to the lean.

EDM doesn't have the cap for this.

Nor would they make that trade if they did.  We need a top 6, so probably should trade all three for Ehlers, however no way does EDM trade Puljujarvi and Chiasson for Sheary and Scandella.  I love a Sweet Lou trade idea but in this three way (as it is in real life), one party leaves unsatisfied.

    I voted yes.

It's like we are all in this crazy contest and dating virgins.  Something HAS to give.

I voted yes too.  For same reasons.

Love the Seinfeld reference.   Both episodes (Contest and Virgin) are top notch.  oo many clips on YouTube between them, you really need to watch the entire episode.

(You) People are sick of Don Cherry's infectious presence in their hockey broadcasts.  In my case, and I suspect the cases of others, too, I got sick of his self-aggrandizement (how insecure must one be to wear those suits!) a long time ago.  He's gone and HNiC is better for it.

Are you sure it was not intended to be written like this?   ?  I've heard it has a greater impact like that.

p.s. Thank you for introducing me to 'aggrandizement' -  I had to look it up @ Merriam-Webster.

Just keep in mind that he's a rental.  I don't overvalue Rodrigues, but Toffoli is a rental.

Risk/reward.  If you tell me second  +  can help us break a playoff drought I’m in.   I can’t see that happening with Vlad on FL#2 this year.    Nothing says you cannot make a second trade, for a player with term.

Umm, that's how Krueger 's been running the 2nd PP unit.  Ristolainen, Miller, Johansson, Mittelstadt, and Sheary.

Midnight toking aside, a lapse in judgement. ?  Thank you.  I acknowledge the Senator from NY.   I stand behind my statement about the low chance of his trade or that he should be traded.

Rinse Wash and Repeat is now No Win November.

Another feel good streak has gone by the wayside.  Lack of depth scoring has reared it's ugly head, defensive breakdowns abound, but so far the goaltending is holding together.

This team needs help before all the new found confidence is shot.

The solution is an early season trade to get forward help.  A center and or RW would be nice.  (I think we heard that before).  I also think RK needs to shuffle the lines some 5 on 5.

Can Jbot get it done, or will he sit on his hands again like last year?  Cap concerns will limit his options.  We are going to have to send out at least as much cap $ as we receive.

I really think he has to do something this time.  Fans re-engaged with the good start and there is depth on D and overall better talent to make a run to the playoffs, but Jbot needs to show the players he supports the team unlike last year.  Personally, I'd move Colin Miller.  With Risto, Joker and Montour all healthy, Miller is the least of that group.  He won't be getting much PP time to utilize his shot, might as well trade him to someone who will give him that opportunity.

By the way Dahlin looked much better in Housley's system then he has so far in RK's.

There is almost no chance of this.   None.  When was the last time a GM trade for a player (with term) and then shipped out after 3 months?  I’m guessing maybe never.  I see Ristolainen, McCabe, Scandella, and Bogo traded this season, but not Miller.  Miller actually should get a chance on the second PP after Risto gets traded.   Put two defense and only three forwards.   Miller has an above average point shot and Mountour can skate and pass better than most on the second grouping.   Makes no sense to try and have them set up the same way the first grouping does.  Change the strategy to fit the players on the ice.

St. Paul.  I suppose that technically Bloomington was a suburb of Minneapolis and not St. Paul, but I'm not being too pedantic here and I doubt that PA is.

Against the Islanders.   Don’t remember but Elliotte Friedman wrote about it after the game in Saskatchewan.  I guess the turnout was below expectations.

What I'd be worried about is what this trip does to the schedule.

I didn't like the Jets going to Finland last year and was jumped on by Jets' fans when I mentioned it. After the games, most everyone was complaining about what it did to the schedule.

I assume you mean this...10 games in 17 days.  This is great news for the fans, but three back to backs could impact the results.  Interesting to see how Ralph addresses this "Load Management".  Will our 30+ players get a night off on these?  I'd like to see it.   Keep guys like KO and Vlad  as health scratch.   Give guys like Lazar a chance to play.

So, did the big quake happen and Vegas is now the West Coast?  IMHO, to officially qualify as on either coast, one has to be able to see the ocean form their living room.

?  (I'm on Windows 7 right now, so that is the winkie thingie, I think.  At least, it should be).

South or West of the 405 (aka OJ ?) Freeway is how I determine if your coastal.  Vegas misses by a few miles.

The Billebeino brand really seems to have grown. They place a big focus on circular manufacturing processes and I think that's really important. It's an interesting experiment to see whether a brand can grow itself by marketing the fact that its products are more expensive, better for the environment, and produced by workers being paid a fair wage. Credit to Ville where it's due, he clearly has a passion for it. Sucks he had to be such a mess here as a hockey player.

Another interesting element to his Business Model is while these clothes are "extremely over-priced", if you return the items you are unsatisfied with, you are refunded 1/3 the replacement value (annualized of course).    And while there "seems" to be a higher level of quality with the manufacturing, with an expected lifespan of 6 years, most people are returning after three years.

Great topic.  It is my life!  I live in Arizona now, so I'm usually at work when Sabres games start.  I also have family responsibilities when I get home from work until the kids go to bed, so I often don't get to sit down and watch a game until 8 or 9 PM Arizona time, which can be 10 or 11 in Buffalo.  The game is long over.  I have to live in the bubble and not look at my phone or someone will ruin it for me.  Even thought I have turned off all "alerts," my friends like to text when a Buffalo team does something good or bad.  Same goes for football.  Bills games start at 10 or 11 am (no Daylight Savings Time here, so it varies by an hour).  It's often difficult to have all of the Saturday or Sunday morning responsibilities out of the way and be ready to go by that early start time, so the DVR comes through for me.  I do prefer to watch live, but with fast-forwarding, I usually catch up to live sometime in the 3rd quarter.  It allows me to zip through the first half commercials and halftime.

I also very much agree with the earlier post about MLB games.  The DVR allows you to fast forward until the point where the game becomes interesting.  I just can't spare (nor do I want to spare) 4+ hours for a baseball game, but the late innings of a close World Series game are entertaining.

The DVR also (as someone else mentioned) sometimes spares some agony.  I was able to fast forward through most of the Sabres-Caps game the other night.  It saved me a lot of time watching a putrid game.  If, during my fast forwarding, it looked like the Sabres were going to get back in the game, I could have switched back to regular speed and enjoyed it.  Unfortunately there was no need.

My 80 year old father often texts....(too often in the last few years)..."Did you watch the Sabres game yet?   Don't bother".    As you might guess, he is Live Only for all sporting events.  He will acquiesce when visiting his West Coast family, but it destroys him inside.

This.  I always start an hour late and end on time.  It's like time travel.  I see the whole game but don't have to watch the commercials or intermission BS.  Plus when you have an 0-4 1st period I reserve the right to watch it in fast forward to see if anything changes.  When it does not, I waste less time on a horrible hockey game.

+1.  Especially baseball games, which are taking 4 hours these days making them almost unwatchable.

  14. Just curious.  Where do you stand on watching the Sabres?   I’ve seen comments under the Game day thread alluding to being late for a game and catching only the last period.  Why not record and watch the game in it’s entirety?   As a left coaster for about half my life I rely on recording eastern time zone games and watching after work.   I know not everyone has traditional cable, and streaming has limitations but if you do have a DVR option, do you use it?

I wasn't a fan of Jack, singlehandedly ruining that PP, in fact, he and the whole team need to pick up the pace when it comes to passes and over decision making.

    Hutton, cmon man, be better.

The shifted lines, don't look very connected yet.

Dahlin and Montour look good so far.

Well, Vlad looks equally disconnected as before.  But at least it’s on the third line so I cannot complain.  Sorry but cannot say Dahlin is good tonight.  A few mistakes and no points, and he let the puck escape the zone on the PP.   Montour yes, and considering it’s his first period of play that is something we should be excited about.
