What makes you think Rosen is anything? Just about every trade scenario people on this board have proposed has them giving up Rosen so he's clearly not thought of overly highly here.
-
Well, they don't have to be hypocrites to go "oh, I guess it does work, our bad" . Once somebody has done something successfully the narrative changes for everybody else going forward. Besides, have you not watched this franchise under Pegula? They change their minds all the time.

Fair enough. I thought Anaheim and San Jose might still be under. I guess San Jose got there signing Toffoli. Anaheim I see just squeaked in by .3 million.
-
Unless Sabres also think he's made out of glass. idk, that's one rumor. Just saw on twitter there's another one about Philly sending Risto and Frost to Montreal for Matheson and Barron and a pick. Maybe if they move out Risto they really want Samuelsson. Just rumors. Nothing to get excited about until they happen.

waivers, 2 way deals and of course LTIR all come into play still so I think there's not a lot of that out there really. I think the time to target cap squeezed teams was before free agency. A few teams still need to make cap floor I think.

I like the framework and structure of what is there now for sure. For years the bottom 6 has just been the guys not good enough to play top minutes and it's been a mish mash of mostly garbage and no identity. Now we have the look of more clearly defined roles. It's a step int he right direction. I have my doubts if the bolded will happen. Philly site has talk of Samuelsson and Krebs for Farabee and that's risky on both ends to say the least.

I am hoping Ruff, with his experience, will be a better game manager and his lines and line combinations (including ice time) will be more situational and match up oriented.
-
There's nothing to be gained from being an overager though. You've given up money and you still have no control over your destination. The NCAA guy gets to go where he wants so there is more leverage. I think they are only fixated on him because he might be available.

I think so. I wouldn't be surprised if the conversation went along these lines: Lindy - "why don't you have any tough guys drafted and playing in Rochester?" Adams - "they weren't BPA" Lindy - "well get a guy or two in there and then when we draft them they can take that spot, we need them" Adams - "okay I guess" (Pegula - "I don't like this but do what Lindy wants Kev") Because Lindy knows, like it or not, this is still a thing we will have to deal with:

True, but I can't see them turning on him there. He's too much of a local legend type thing. You'd probably see him bumped upstairs to some sort of upper management role if they wanted to go new GM. Sort of like Philly has done with their "legends" over the years. Or the way Cam Neely gets to sit up top in Boston.

So the very top group is pretty much the same as last year. Nashville adds obviously move them up. Same for New Jersey, but I'd seriously question Detroit being placed there. Utah is the wildcard to watch for me. Some good kids in the system, some big time new additions, a new environment. They could surprise.

Canadian Costcos might be different. Hard to say. I love Costco, I will admit it.

Grit Rankings 2: The 4th Line Strikes Back (2024 Ed.)
PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
On a related note, here's a different highlight look for last season. Some of you will enjoy this almost as much as I did. Peterka, Tuch and Dahlin all come off well in it. Cozens, not so much. The Rempe DesLauriers fight is just on a whole other level. -
About time. They should always have a couple of those big boys down there to protect the kids. AHL can be a rougher league than the NHL with some of the hacks in it.

I was joking about Lasagna before but that is how it might have started. Somebody made a pizza in a Lasagna pan and the sides of the pan allowed you to lay more stuff on top of the dough without it spilling over. Anything with good sauce and cheese is going to taste good regardless. Never seen it in our Costco but I will look closer just for fun. Walmart I avoid.

So Farabee rumors, there's your destination. Philly loves our D men 🙂
-
So why is it Detroit then? They not have round dishes in Michigan? 🙂 We definitely don't have it around here.
-
If you are ever in Hamilton go to Valentino's in Westdale (if it's still there). This was the best pizza I've ever had in my life. Nothing like it out west here. West coast pizza is generally pretty bad. I knew that I was kidding because of the square deep dish. I don't really consider Chicago deep dish pizza either. If you want all that stuff imo you might as well fold it over and call it a Panzerotti.
-
So it's Lasagna 🙂 Strange. I don't think anybody in Canada sells that. Certainly not out west. Probably tastes good, but I'm not sure it's actually pizza.

What the hell is a Detroit Style Pizza? Domino's? i.e. bad.

Hard to make an assessment of the UPL situation without knowing how much he wants or how much they are offering. I just don't think Beck has enough of a resume to demand a high end contract (from a 4th line perspective).
-
They are an outlier though. Their 4th line gets a lot of ice time and isn't really a typical 4th line.
-
4th line players average around 1 million across the league. Bruins for example are paying their 4th line 1 mil, 835,000 and 832,500 respectively for Jones, Kastelic and Beecher. We're already paying Lafferty 2 million for a likely 4th line role. How much do you want to keep overpaying guys for before it all collapses as the kids want their paydays? Girgs was getting 3rd line money. It was a bad contract. A really bad contract.

It would have been different and interesting that's for sure. Some players respond to him some don't. We'd only be guessing as to how that would go but I can guarantee you he wouldn't have gotten along with Pegula. Torts just don't give a s$$t if he's fired or not. He's basically at retirement age, has money, loves his dogs and while he enjoys coaching and teaching the kids he's fine to walk away as well so he would not tolerate ANY dumb suggestions from Pegula. He just wouldn't. Back to the players, Skinner would obviously have been benched and done. Really not sure how things would have gone with Thompson. Not sure Torts would be okay with the gentle giant and would want more out of him and his size. It would have been interesting to enter an alternate universe and see who and how many players rebelled and how many bought in. We might get some idea with Ruff. They've added guys who are a little more workmanlike and ditched Skinner so we shall see. Ruff is not as harsh or quick to react as Torts but he does demand accountability. At least he has in the past. Captain matters and I'm sticking with my original idea that it has to be Tuch. Dahlin might buy in, but he has no history to weigh against Ruff and he's too highly paid. He could lead a players revolt just as easily as a leadership buy in. Tuch, on the other hand, will buy in 100% and as a leader can make that infectious. Never been a believer that the best player is captain by default. It only works will the absolute elite who have that work ethic with them from the beginning like a Crosby.
