  1. I don't think there's any doubt Tuch should get the C but there's no point in moving any letters this season. The attitude is finally changing, and I have to believe Tuch is the main reason. The A's go to the younger players who have shown the work ethic and leadership on and off the ice. I think one is Cozens, not sure on the other. Kyle will be on his way out one way or another so I applaud his effort but he's not part of this moving forward. At least I doubt it.
  2. I do believe the topic is "around the nhl" sir.
  3. F the result, I feel really really good about what I saw tonight. This was a very very different team with a very very different attitude to the one that Colorado ran out of the rink (Nelson - sigh) . We were in this all the way and we showed grit and fight and it was an overall gutsy performance. I am reluctant to jump on a bandwagon, been dumped off before and my old knees can't take that, but this just might look like we're finally turning the corner. I wanted to see Samuelsson drop them instead of Kyle but good on Kyle for his effort. I am optimistic tonight.
  4. Weren't we all? She was their Maryanne to Loni Anderson's Ginger.
  5. I'd disagree with that. Yes, they have some high end vets, but they're building a young core with that. 2 or 3 years from now they might be in the win now or never mode but right now I think they're happy to be where they are and aren't going to sell the farm for a run this year. I think we will be dealing with the Rangers as a top team for many years in a row now. They have the goalie, they have the talent, they have the coach, they have young talent with the old, they aren't going to go away easily.
  6. Wow. Just turned the Bruins Stars game on and these 3rd jerseys for Dallas are messing with my vision. Some sort of black light fluorescent green like they're out of the movie Tron or something. Crazy. No wonder they're having a bad season.
  7. I'm not sure the second half will be as meaningful as some of you think. I suspect we get a number of fluke wins with teams not showing up with their A games and back up goalies as there will be a number of semi meaningless games in the latter half as in or out of the playoffs will be already decided. I will be shocked if Anderson keeps playing big minutes and doesn't get injured again. Still, I'd like to see the style and identity taking shape though. Glimpses of what is to come and some continuity. Hopefully more entertaining and encouraging than last year.
  8. maybe we get a glimpse of if this team has character or quit, but not much else. Not even close unless they come out napping from over confidence and we are extremely lucky.
  9. Well I think any of the teams with aging superstars are in that possible category (eg. Pittsburgh, Boston). Doubt younger teams like the Rangers would. But it's always an arms race isn't it? If one adds a big name there's pressure to match. There's a real gap this year though between the top and the bottom. That mess of teams competing for the wild card spots just isn't there, especially in the east. The top 8 now is most likely the top 8 come playoff time.
  10. Gump Worsley, Johnny Bower and Jacques Plante were all 44 or 45 so he MIGHT play more for us, but I hear you, he's not the answer and it would be another lost year imo if he's our goalie next year.
  11. I was most interested to see how they'd come out or bounce back after that Ottawa debacle so it was good to see speed and energy right from the get go. These games give little glimpses of what might be in the near future, the speed, the skill. Good passing overall and good effort. Third period not great as is too often the case this year but an enjoyable evening all the same. Enjoy it while it lasts because tomorrow.............. Yotes are slow. Yotes are bad. I think they might be tanking 🙂
  12. I'm not sure what you mean. In the example I gave Giroux has a hefty contract but he's a ufa next year. Otherwise, as Wookie said, 2 years max and a decent asset(s) in return.
  13. Might I remind you about this game of Cozens vs. McDavid https://www.espn.com/nhl/game/_/gameId/401349339 and Cozens is still improving. Unless of course your argument is that Zegras is better than McDavid, then you might be right.
  14. Absolutely. The only deadline deals of note will have to involve salary retention and maybe even 3rd party brokers taking on an additional salary chunk. GMs are going to have to be very creative for sure. An example would be a 3 way type deal say the Flyers move Giroux, Bruins need a 2C, Philly takes on half his salary and maybe we give them back that Risto 2nd rounder, we retain half of the remaining half and move him to Boston for DeBrusk and Philly gets Boston's 1st rounder plus fringe details around that to make it legal. Like that. It can be done, but it definitely requires lots of creativity and piles of money getting eaten by somebody. Let's see if KA is any good.
  15. I was looking over the standings today (which I rarely do) and I don't think we will be able to move much of anybody as there will be too many clear sellers at this deadline. Only the Pacific division has a bunch of close teams, the rest is going to pretty much decided between the ins and outs and that means everybody out selling. Don't see any of our lot being all that desirable in that scenario.
  16. I don't think there's any question we have good goalie prospects in the works, and he's one of them. I can fantasize about a day in the future where the discussions here are about what to do with TOO MUCH talent and not enough places to play them.
  17. Last pieces of the losing era. They're going to be gone after next year regardless so since we have zero chance this year get something for them while you can and move on. and I don't see them as big bodied etc. as you do.
  18. Well I hope you're wrong, because to me that's not progress. I'm not interested in tanking for a shot at Bedard. imo the only reason those guys are in the leadership role is due to a total lack of leadership left on the roster. You're not going to go far with guys on the last year of their contracts as your leaders. I believe the letters next year should be Tuch - C, Cozens - A, Dahlin-A. My preferred option would be to trade Girgs and Kyle now by eating salary on them. Get a little something for them maybe and move on from the loser era.
  19. I think Eakin will be deadline dealt and Jankowski will take his place, but really I don't think any of Girgs, Okposo, Eakin, Jankowski, Hayden (and probably not Murray or Bjork) matter much to KA. I think they are all gone this year or by the end of next, (as well as Hagg, Butcher, Miller and possibly Pysyk). the 4th line is just going to be a dumping ground for the misfit toys for the rest of this year.
  20. I think this nails it. The thinking (right or wrong) is they want that line to play very up tempo and very fast so Bjork over Okposo for skating speed and no other reason. He is a placeholder. Hinostroza might take that spot first, and next year maybe Quinn. Bjork is a temp, nothing more.
  21. Third party broker would be a good option. A bad contract or two (as long as they weren't long) to add some prospects also good. Trading for a good, but perhaps overpaid player. There are a multitude of possibilities. I think it will tell us a little about the time line though. If they do not use it, and/or do not add in free agency anything significant, then we pretty much know Terry has tightened the purse strings and this is a long term build. I would like to see some aggressive moves to fill the holes and speed this thing up myself. I don't want to wait 3-4 more years to compete. Levi and UPL might be our long term future, but we need a goalie now. Even somebody average, but consistent, for the next 2-3 years, but we need a goalie. (among other things) Creativity is needed. Speaking of Vancouver, Bruins seriously interested in Miller but have no space so maybe we take DeBrusk and somebody for cheap so they can do that. Not that I really want DeBrusk, but he might fit in with the style we are supposedly planning on and if the steal deal can be made for economic reasons, why not? I'm sure there are other similar possibilities among the contenders.
  22. If I were him, I'd be referencing this: and how nothing happened to Maroon, and talk about how the team can't afford any more goalie injuries so he felt he had to protect himself. It's not the same, I know, but I think it's relevant. What will work against him is he was out of the crease when he stuck the arm/shoulder out and the Ottawa guy is not a dirty player so he probably gets s suspension. Personally, I was fine with it.
  23. I think it's fine to have B, C, even D teams. Come playoff time I usually cheer for underdogs and similar to your Boston hate, anybody who plays against the Leafs. As long as the Leafs lose I'm fine with the eventual cup winner. Otherwise, to keep enjoying watching hockey in general, it depends on what style of play you like best. Nashville is living up to Smashville this year. Canes are fast high energy. Tampa is the star power team for sure. Depends what you like. Personally, for example, going to probably watch the Anaheim Toronto game tonight. Really like what Anaheim's doing with their rebuild. It's a bit frustrating to see how much faster and better their rebuild is than ours, but it's also a model for what we could be as well. and watch the Olympics of course.
  24. Brandon Carlo is the type. Don't think the Bruins want to move him but if they have cap issues for next year trying to sign Bergeron etc. maybe they'd move him for a youngster or pick(s) or let them unload another salary on us. But somebody like that.
