GDT: 4/10/22 Sabres at Tampa 5pm MSG WGR550
PerreaultForever replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Umm, did anyone actually seriously think he was? That game was like a big collection of them doing everything they have done badly the last several years with absolutely nothing redeeming. Bad D, bad team play, lack of effort, soft, just a pile of rubbish. -
It's done. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/kraken-sign-first-ever-draft-pick-matty-beniers-to-entry-level-contract/

Sure. On their 4 game winless streak and coming off an OT loss to Boston. We just don't know how to play team D, and you kind of have to against teams like Tampa. Can't just wave your stick at people like Joker did on Perry to start this nonsense off. -

mentally drained is possible, but if these kids are physically tired we got big problems. -

Can't help but think this is blatant trolling for kicks. Tuch has actually put up more points per game this season than Eichel has since the trade so whatever. Guess this game will bring some fans back to earth. Lately they've looked like a hockey team. This one looks like what they've looked like for x number of years. Absolute crap. Unwatchable, hence I'm online 🙂 -
Ya, I don't think you can really say that's a "roster of Jags" any more. Maybe a D man here and there but that's pretty much next year's roster too. One or two changes is all I expect. I wouldn't get too excited though, we had a solid late season run last year too. They need to play much better team D to compete and need more depth. Having said that, they should have better depth next year and hopefully improvements at key positions so I expect them to be better next year than this.

He's okay. He is one of our better 2-way forwards, but that's also partly because most of our forwards can't play D very well (at this point). Eventually I see him bumped down to the 4th line but it depends on how good we get and what kind of lines they decide to use.

Tage Extension—What Will It Take?
PerreaultForever replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
I don't think the Pegulas will back the money truck up for anyone again after one season of big numbers (after Skinner) so there won't be any talk of extending him until mid season at the earliest and then only assuming he is performing at a similar level. Nobody will get big long paydays unless we start winning for real. -
Well a star NHL D man has to hit some people SOMETIMES. Dahlin's developed a little feistiness and he's a better player for it. It's just part of the game. But you're right, He's not going to be Pronger or Stevens. I'm still thinking his best comparable to the current league is Pietrangelo. A lot going on for him this year, he might be a little tired. If not physically, mentally. I still have no worries about him disappointing, he won't.

One more point up on Vegas, still 2 games in hand. It can happen. At least Nashville won.

What draft pick will the Sabres get from Vegas?
PerreaultForever replied to SDS's topic in The Aud Club
They can still make a trade. It's allowed. The players traded however cannot play for their respective teams until next season. But no reason they couldn't trade a player or two for picks or futures to some non playoff team like us. More likely they just try to cheat, but trading Dadanov or someone else is still possible. -
Ya, I was going to post on those golden helmets. Terrible for tv too. They shine and reflect a ton of glare so you can't see players faces on the bench when the camera pans past. Made me think Roller Derby or Tron or some video game like you said. Just awful. Gone too far with their Vegas Kitsch if you ask me. and they lost so cool.

I never thought Power wouldn't sign. Kid is from Mississauga, just a short car drive away, so he will have no issues starting his career in Buffalo. Portillo, idk, but he obviously knows Power well, and you'd have to ask why wouldn't a young goalie want to come to a team where the future of the net is open and ripe for the taking? Ideally we end up with too many good goalies, wouldn't that be a switch?

This is a funny much ado about nothing thread. Sabres fans have gotten so pessimistic and antsy they'll jump on the slightest thing. These guys are the future, not the present, let them take whatever path they want. No guarantees everybody signs every year, but as this team turns the corner (and it is looking like it has) the fan excitement will return, the destination will be desirable again, and it'll all be just fine. Never forget a lot of these guys already know each other and have played together and are possibly friends. Just relax, they will come.

Not 100% sure but somehow I think Martinez was playing against Vancouver. I only saw a few minutes though so I might have heard wrong. Pretty obvious IFF they make the playoffs they will cheat on the cap like Tampa. Vegas is my team to hate now, and ya, it's mostly because of Jack.

Fight night in Nashville tonight. Who was it saying this ain't 1978? 🙂 Both those teams getting playoff ready. Vegas momentarily on the out. How long before Eichel gets blamed for THAT?
-
Who? and at what price?
-
Do people care about that? Well, I don't. Not really. These things are more complicated and need a much deeper analysis to have meaning. Who was the goalie? Which forward line was on at the time? Who was the opposition? and so forth. Casey is far from a good D man but he plays with the right attitude and effort and so I'm sticking with him for that reason until somebody with definitely better talent arrives. Pysyk is just a journeyman player who should be lower than the top 6. I still don't like the Joker Dahlin pairing but I'm not sure we have a better option right now. The reality is the team plays horrible team defense, which is part of why I say we have a long way to go still. BUT, they're scoring goals now and playing with some intensity so they look like a hockey team again and that's a start. Defense has to improve though no question. Power will help (in time) but we still need more.

He better. Kyle is on the team he can keep an A but it would be madness to not give Tuch the C.

Everything about the Coyotes is an embarrassment
PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
No that's not what happened. Zegras took the unnecessary poke and Beagle gave him a crosscheck shot in the back as a result. A push and shove scrum broke out when Terry came at Beagle (to defend Zegras in his mind I guess) and then Beagle let loose on him in response. It was hockey. Not 1978. Not the 80s, 2022. It happens. teams rise and fall on how they react and respond to these things as Sabres fans well know.
