  1. Do not ask if it was right to take Cozens over Zegras, better to ask why we didn't draft Tanner Jeannot instead of William Worge Kreu
  2. lol, that is some crazy optimism. I applaud your hope. Thinking that every single one of these young guys will max out is pretty crazy but we should have some good young players and hopefully some leaders and stars that we can build an identity around. I think a comparison to Carolina might be more reachable. In the long run, optimistically I think Levi will be a Vezina candidate goalie. We don't have a Stamkos or a Kucherov right now though. Power, however, will be much better than Sergachev. As for Gourde, we don't have one right now, but we could use 2 or 3.
  3. Reading the stuff above and going back to the surgeon this is what I was thinking right away. Would explain the awkward skating stride he had. I had one of these a few years back, and I'm no young pro athlete, but it was supposed to be all good in a few weeks but I got scar tissue messing with nerve endings and occasionally it still gives me a stabbing reminder it was there. Trapped nerves and similar aspects can happen to anybody with those though. If that's it he's going to have to take up yoga and get therapy and break that scar tissue down. As a young athlete I don't think it's a long term problem. If that's it.
  4. Funny observation on that from the ESPN annnouncers. With Skinner as the man in front on the PP Lehner's head was a foot above Skinner's so he could see everything. Our coaches have some odd PP ideas imo. Anyway, back to Levi, he's the best of the 3 imo and although he should not be in the NHL next year the way this team goes with kids and goalies you never know.
  5. Poker. slots. roulette?
  6. Oh that was sad. So many mistakes, not worth going over them. Anderson also looked like the old has been he is so maybe that'll put a stop to the nonsense suggestions about him being our goalie next season. Just want to add one thing I thought of tonight. Over his Buffalo career Jack Eichel scored 355 pts. in 375 games so at this point in time Tuch has a better pts. per game average . We won the trade 🙂
  7. That's true. There has to be a feeling of optimism and a solid progression. I'm hoping (as I'm sure everyone else here is) that this is the moment and next season we start rising and rising quickly. The timing is right.
  8. For me that's the thing. I could be wrong about it, but he always came across to me as if he felt a sort of sense of entitlement. and when things went south he didn't take it on himself as a "leader." Naming him captain is what sunk us, I've always believed that and still do. The guys we had lacked a work ethic and lacked accountability. I doubt that's changed with Jack. The Vegas show will probably fuel that ego bigger but we finally get to see if he elevates in the playoffs. Maybe he will. Maybe he will be a different guy surrounded by that team. maybe he's older and wiser. But I doubt it.
  9. I think the timing is right for ownership to make changes to dawn the new era. I don't think they will, they just assume it'll all be fine when they start winning (and it probably will be) but lessons could be learned from Vegas and Carolina. Make the place fun. More stuff for kids, families. More side entertainment. You throw a few bucks at it and you can make it an entertainment event, not just a hockey game.
  10. This was mentioned to me a while back, maybe in the Eichel thread or around the nhl, but I think Paccioretti is still out indefinitely and could be put on LTIR if and when Eichel comes back. That's like $7 million right there. In essence Kucherov Max instead of Jack. I found Tuch's comment in the Buffalo News odd, but maybe Terry needs to pay attention to it. “And I’m really looking forward to seeing the look on some of our young guys’ faces.”’ We all know they created a good fun atmosphere there, but if the contrast is this extreme, maybe they need to find a way to change things locally a little more. Just give me another game of solid effort and compete from our side and I will be happy.
  11. Without a doubt. AND if we do in fact start climbing and becoming a real team again while Vegas does not win the cup and in fact falters, well then lots of people will question him. Here's hoping.
  12. I never said Reinhart wasn't skilled or talented. Never. What I always questioned was his heart, his desire, his leadership and the quit in him. He's a fair weather hockey player imo and it will be interesting to see if that has changed any come playoff time. Maybe had the Sabres surrounded Eichel and Reinhart with good veteran leadership things would have been different, but making those guys the leadership core was folly. The results speak for themselves. and Devon Levi will win the Vezina one day so it won't matter at all.
  13. F Reinhart. He was paired with one of the best centers in hockey and couldn't get it done so who cares what he is doing now that he has a love for hockey.
  14. Isn't it really a fancy spin on saying that we rush these "kids" into the NHL too quickly? Not just us, but the league as a whole.
  15. I noticed this too. Something about his skating stride was off imo. I was wondering if he was maybe wearing a brace of some kind that we weren't being told about. He got gassed too, which was understandable, but there was definitely something else going on. Not knowing what the actual injury is/was it's hard to say but many possibles could have pulled or swelled up. or he's just made of glass.
  16. I don't think there's any doubt Tuch should get the C but there's no point in moving any letters this season. The attitude is finally changing, and I have to believe Tuch is the main reason. The A's go to the younger players who have shown the work ethic and leadership on and off the ice. I think one is Cozens, not sure on the other. Kyle will be on his way out one way or another so I applaud his effort but he's not part of this moving forward. At least I doubt it.
  17. I do believe the topic is "around the nhl" sir.
  18. F the result, I feel really really good about what I saw tonight. This was a very very different team with a very very different attitude to the one that Colorado ran out of the rink (Nelson - sigh) . We were in this all the way and we showed grit and fight and it was an overall gutsy performance. I am reluctant to jump on a bandwagon, been dumped off before and my old knees can't take that, but this just might look like we're finally turning the corner. I wanted to see Samuelsson drop them instead of Kyle but good on Kyle for his effort. I am optimistic tonight.
  19. Weren't we all? She was their Maryanne to Loni Anderson's Ginger.
  20. I'd disagree with that. Yes, they have some high end vets, but they're building a young core with that. 2 or 3 years from now they might be in the win now or never mode but right now I think they're happy to be where they are and aren't going to sell the farm for a run this year. I think we will be dealing with the Rangers as a top team for many years in a row now. They have the goalie, they have the talent, they have the coach, they have young talent with the old, they aren't going to go away easily.
  21. Wow. Just turned the Bruins Stars game on and these 3rd jerseys for Dallas are messing with my vision. Some sort of black light fluorescent green like they're out of the movie Tron or something. Crazy. No wonder they're having a bad season.
  22. I'm not sure the second half will be as meaningful as some of you think. I suspect we get a number of fluke wins with teams not showing up with their A games and back up goalies as there will be a number of semi meaningless games in the latter half as in or out of the playoffs will be already decided. I will be shocked if Anderson keeps playing big minutes and doesn't get injured again. Still, I'd like to see the style and identity taking shape though. Glimpses of what is to come and some continuity. Hopefully more entertaining and encouraging than last year.
  23. maybe we get a glimpse of if this team has character or quit, but not much else. Not even close unless they come out napping from over confidence and we are extremely lucky.
  24. Well I think any of the teams with aging superstars are in that possible category (eg. Pittsburgh, Boston). Doubt younger teams like the Rangers would. But it's always an arms race isn't it? If one adds a big name there's pressure to match. There's a real gap this year though between the top and the bottom. That mess of teams competing for the wild card spots just isn't there, especially in the east. The top 8 now is most likely the top 8 come playoff time.
  25. Gump Worsley, Johnny Bower and Jacques Plante were all 44 or 45 so he MIGHT play more for us, but I hear you, he's not the answer and it would be another lost year imo if he's our goalie next year.
