  1. I actually thought Power seemed to be having a little trouble adjusting to the speed of the game at this level but he wasn't horrible. No big deal, I'm sure it's just a first game type thing. Still confident he will be very good. Love beating the Laughs. Just love it. Season highlight maybe.
  2. Not a chance. The slug/comb over was the worst. Bad look, bad colours, just bad. The goathead might have been too radical a change from the original for most fans, but the colours worked, and I always thought the red nostrils gave it a sort of blood snort look of fierceness. Perhaps not an accident that the team in that era was a bruising one with tons of grit. Goathead ate Bears for fun.
  3. He definitely does have a Clark Kent look about him, but a big part of that is the glasses.
  4. Sure, but he sunk. We're all going to be watching Power tonight to see what he can do. Hopefully the Sabres won't stand around and just watch him too.
  5. So many people talking about Hellebuyk is there even a rumour that he's on the trade block? I think he has a partial no trade clause too but not sure. Can't see that one happening imo unless we give away way too much. I wonder if St. Louis might want to ditch Binnington now that they've somewhat moved on to Husso? Korpisalo is probably the best FA option imo but he's not a sure thing as a solution either. Bit of a gamble but maybe affordable and fitting into the plan better.
  6. I'm not pairing Pysyk with him because Pysyk is better, but because he is a long term veteran and could teach and communicate with the kid better. Joker plays more of that Euro style of D which I don't care for personally, but if you're going that way he pairs better with Dahlin as he has been. I don't think he'd compliment or help Power. I like Fitz, but more for his attitude and effort level. I think that type of player is good for the team building, even if they aren't the most talented guy out there. I personally would play Fitz ahead of a slightly more talented guy if that guy didn't have that attitude. (emphasis on slightly). At the moment I keep Fitz in the line up, but he should be in the bottom pairing.
  7. Well a tandem of UPL/Anderson certainly isn't the answer but it may be what we get. UPL might be better than his numbers indicate and he might give us a good stretch of games but he needs to be paired with a good veteran who can take about half the load if needed. People are dumping on Ullmark here (sour grapes?) and he was being critiqued in Boston for not being Rask, but when Swayman (their obvious goalie of the future) lost his mojo (as young goalies can do from time to time) he stepped in and went on a win streak playing very well. Point being, that's what we need to have. If UPL is our Swayman, we need our version of Ullmark to go with him and that's not Anderson. I'm glad we didn't sign Ullmark though. Would have deprived the highlight reels of the goalie hug, the kind of thing this team could use a little of.
  8. So the plan is put Dahlin on the right side rather than sign a RHD I suspect. I personally don't like the Joker Power pairing. Unlike many people here I do not think Joker is a particularly good D man. idk, I don't have a good pairing for him as the right side is weak top to bottom, but I'd start him with a vet like Pysyk if it was me.
  9. imo the only way Anderson should be re-signed is in a #3 capacity for depth where he can take on a sort of coaching mentoring role while providing some veteran injury insurance. Minimum salary and if a waiver happened whatever. Definitely not as a planned #1 or #2. the Tampa game felt a little different from the previous in that it was like games last year. No fight, all quit, all mistakes, lack of effort, individuals not team, everything wrong. Tank team stuff. Prior to that, they made defensive errors and they lost games but they were close and had a little spunk and team resilience and other positive signs. This was just the return of the losing stank.
  10. I don't listen to a word the human chia pet says. He showed his true colours with his post game comments after that return to Buffalo loss. he is, as you said, "completely full of crap".
  11. It is a nice story. Unlikely, but definitely a nice story. You'd have to be sure he was down with the idea though. Actually wants to help the franchise. If not he's just an old stiff and a disruption to the building process. but if he himself wants to end his career in a home town kind of thing and lead the kids why not?
  12. At least Dallas came back to beat Chicago. Kind of worried about L.A. now. The human chia pet might make the playoffs yet.
  13. Umm, did anyone actually seriously think he was? That game was like a big collection of them doing everything they have done badly the last several years with absolutely nothing redeeming. Bad D, bad team play, lack of effort, soft, just a pile of rubbish.
  14. It's done. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/kraken-sign-first-ever-draft-pick-matty-beniers-to-entry-level-contract/
  15. Sure. On their 4 game winless streak and coming off an OT loss to Boston. We just don't know how to play team D, and you kind of have to against teams like Tampa. Can't just wave your stick at people like Joker did on Perry to start this nonsense off.
  16. mentally drained is possible, but if these kids are physically tired we got big problems.
  17. Can't help but think this is blatant trolling for kicks. Tuch has actually put up more points per game this season than Eichel has since the trade so whatever. Guess this game will bring some fans back to earth. Lately they've looked like a hockey team. This one looks like what they've looked like for x number of years. Absolute crap. Unwatchable, hence I'm online 🙂
  18. Ya, I don't think you can really say that's a "roster of Jags" any more. Maybe a D man here and there but that's pretty much next year's roster too. One or two changes is all I expect. I wouldn't get too excited though, we had a solid late season run last year too. They need to play much better team D to compete and need more depth. Having said that, they should have better depth next year and hopefully improvements at key positions so I expect them to be better next year than this.
  19. He's okay. He is one of our better 2-way forwards, but that's also partly because most of our forwards can't play D very well (at this point). Eventually I see him bumped down to the 4th line but it depends on how good we get and what kind of lines they decide to use.
  20. The only negative to Power signing is it comes too late for RJ. Imagine all the things he could and would have done with "Power" Power surge Power outage Power to the people and on and on it could have gone.........
  21. I don't think the Pegulas will back the money truck up for anyone again after one season of big numbers (after Skinner) so there won't be any talk of extending him until mid season at the earliest and then only assuming he is performing at a similar level. Nobody will get big long paydays unless we start winning for real.
  22. Looks like none of our 4 stood out but doesn't matter. They are all solid prospects (assuming signings and all that stuff).
  23. There was RJ night. Tuch on one side and surprisingly Eakin on the other, so there's that.
  24. Well a star NHL D man has to hit some people SOMETIMES. Dahlin's developed a little feistiness and he's a better player for it. It's just part of the game. But you're right, He's not going to be Pronger or Stevens. I'm still thinking his best comparable to the current league is Pietrangelo. A lot going on for him this year, he might be a little tired. If not physically, mentally. I still have no worries about him disappointing, he won't.
