  1. Oh please. Don't go down that road of measuring fandom. All I'm saying is I've seen this before and it means nothing for the future. You've seen it before. It's not a measure of what we will see next year. Not in any way.
  2. You might not be old enough to remember this but he reminds me of Jacques Richard. All the skills to potentially be great, but generally just floated and underachieved. He had one good year in Quebec but otherwise a disappointing career.
  3. There's absolutely zero reason to run it back again. With what's on the ice right now there's clearly more than enough skill and offense out there compared to other teams. What we need is a more solid D, a younger version of Reimer or better, and ideally a little bottom end upgrade but the last thing is a minor point. We need to do whatever it takes to get a solid top 4 D man in there before next season starts along with another D man for depth and/or to push Clifton or Samuelsson right out of the top 6. I've said this before and I'm going to keep repeating it. Trade Norris to make that happen. He's not playing now. He has an injury history, and we have enough offense. He's the trade chip to make this happen. We can also use picks and prospects but that's the place I'd be starting.
  4. Exactly. Super skilled and if given a lot of open ice he can succeed, but when checked closely he falters. Cannot fight through any sort of tougher defense.
  5. Well they are definitely not tanking. If they are, they clearly don't understand the concept πŸ™‚ They are in fact blowing their chances of a top 5 pick but I don't care. We don't need more prospects, we need guys who can play now.
  6. I don't put any stock into these games but it looked like they've been practicing that 3 on 3. Lots of fast fluid blind passing and deliberate movement as a unit. They get that right and they can pick up a lot of extra points in the future. They need to bring some of that to the PP. You can't judge much when a guy is saddled onto the 4th unit but Γ–stlund looked like he needs more time in Rochester.
  7. You're not seriously buying in to this late season bs are you? How many times you going to fall for this?
  8. Back up goalie again. We are not taken seriously by these teams.
  9. Interesting you have Bear at 6. That's substantially higher than most rankings I see BUT, oddly, he's a guy I think the Sabres could really use and so I would have said I'd be willing to go out of order and draft him higher than he's ranked. So we agree on something. The top guys are the top and we aren't getting them unless we win the lottery (which we won't) so my top 3 are Desnoyers, Bear, McQueen in that order and I'm happy if we get any one of those three. The back is a concern but maybe it's also over played. I don't know enough to say. They need to do their homework. I know Sweeney was out travelling and watching him. Not sure if Adams leaves his house.
  10. The pissy part of this deal for Canadians is they will still get to sell off pieces so TSN can have some again and then Amazon and anybody else they want to sell bits to so you won't get all the games in one service. Not a fan friendly arrangement to say the least.
  11. Gretzky sitting with Kash Patel while Putin's national hero becomes the league's top goal scorer makes me think reality has taken a holiday. I feel really bad for Dom.
  12. This is just a late season look see. Not unusual for teams to do this. Evaluate exactly where his progress is. I think it likely he needs another year in Rochester.
  13. OMG did they ever. Just look into the Derek Sanderson story. If he hadn't been a party animal a lot of people think he could have been one of the top players in the league. There were others that indulged heavily as well. They didn't have the discipline and drive of some of those Montreal teams that's for sure.
  14. Eichel to Boston in another year is a thing that could happen. Now all homeboys go home though. They said Hannifin was going to sign in Boston too and he went Vegas all the way. Eichel could easily stay in Vegas. However this does bring in the question of whether they are planning a one year (this year) tank or a two year tank for McKenna and then maybe signing Eichel and a rapid rebuild. What they do this off season might be interesting to watch. They've certainly pulled a rapid about face that's for sure.
  15. This is why it's been over for a long time though. We are winning a lot of games and still 11 points out (1 game in hand). You just don't make up ground all that fast at this time of year. It just doesn't happen. Too many teams and only a couple of them have to go on a run to stay far ahead.
  16. Ya, they won the first 2 games after the deadline and both guys looked fast (everything's relative) and Bruins fans went what is this madness? Are they good? Reality has set in and now they are saying do not sign or keep. Mixed on Jokiharju maybe but Mittelstadt is being hated on along with his game completely falling apart. Constant give aways. Worse than Cozens the other day. Their tank is strong. The question is are they tanking just for this year or is this a continued tank for McKenna too? The current roster is certainly capable of dead last next year.
  17. Kind of a moot point since your tickets are on your phone (unless you are some sort of luddite) so you're going to have it with you regardless. I never record anything, I'm an in the moment kind of person.
  18. Funny and true. So it could have been worse. If I am not mistaken this year or next is the last but they are still paying Bryzgalov.
  19. Well he certainly hasn't advocated for Flyers style hockey here that's for sure.
  20. This off season is certainly a strange one for them. I can see a scenario where they get right back in it quickly but like with most teams a lot of things would have to go right. Number one Swayman has to get his mojo back. If he doesn't they will be in the McKenna lottery. Sadly this is quite possible.
  21. Well yes, this has been the same for every year. He has a wealth of picks and prospects and could make deals but he hasn't. he also wants to "win" trades and that is unnecessary if you are actually trying to win now. As long as you get what you want/need it is okay to overpay sometimes. Especially when you have that wealth. He's not in a "don't want to trade away the future" scenario, there's actually too many prospects and unless things change we will just end up giving people away cheap like Jokiharju for a 4th or losing them on waivers. There's only so many roster spots.
  22. It has become well known that Montgomery wanted to be in St. Louis. This is part of why he got fired in Boston. He didn't want to re-sign and commit. He would not have come to a team like Buffalo.
  23. I've never denied they are my second team and have carried me through dark Sabres times. I told my full story on this site. SFW? I am merely relaying things from the Bruins forum that I thought might amuse. For the first time in over a decade they are cheering losing/tanking. It's quite funny to me. Want to hear something else funny? They are starting to hate on Mittelstadt.
  24. Given that the current on ice roster seems to have found some chemistry and Quinn has shown signs of actually being useful my new thought is to trade Norris in the off season. He's a big trade chip and could get a potential return. imo we have enough offense as is (and we have offensive prospects). What we need for real lasting success is a proven NHL goalie and a top 4 defensive D man. Add those 2 ingredients at any cost and we might actually have something. I'd try to upgrade Lafferty as well but that's a minor issue and not game changing to say the least.
