The Stanley Cup Playoffs 2023: Second Round GDT.

Problem with this round is if you hate the idea of Edmonton Toronto (and I do) you end up having to cheer for Eichel and Reinhart. Just feels horribly wrong. -

I want Kraken and Devils to win but I don't think they will. I suspect in the end it will be Leafs Oilers and I'm really going to hate that. -

With all the praise Florida is getting these days it seems the right time to point out that Rick Dudley is the senior advisor there. -

Umberger would be the object of the sentence. Meier got Campbelled would be the correct grammar would it not? It was shoulder to head, but Meier was bent over, the shoulder wasn't raised. -

old guys heading for the golf courses all over. Kane was garbage. He's done. Trochek was garbage. Another guy from the loser version of Florida hmmm...... So I guess the optimists here will look at Schmid and think Levi next year. Speed and youth. Difference however is they added some key pieces to that mix and kept some grit. Let's hope we follow suit. That Lindy Ruff guy has an odd name, but I guess he's a pretty good coach. 🙂 -
For who? Too late for Bedard, who's next?
-
Do YOU want to wait? I don't.

idk, but I don't think they know what they are doing. You bring a guy like Sutter in you're committing to hard nosed physical close checking hockey. If not why bring him in? So now you fire the GM, presumably blamed for losing Tkachuk and/or signing Huberdeau long term or other bad moves and then you boot the coach so that plan's gone and it's on to some new plan. Maybe they tear down and rebuild but it feels like the players vs. Sutter and the players won out. I don't think it's a coincidence that Florida with Huberdeau crapped out in the playoffs and Florida with Tkachuk did not.

I'd prefer a better top 4 D to Gudas, but if he's a possible option then sure. He's an upgrade. Bertuzzi is an interesting but problematic option. I was high on him earlier as he is a power forward and does go to the dirty areas. Good passing ability too which surprised me. BUT, he's also a turnover machine. Despite his offense, he was also on the ice for 7 goals against in the Florida Boston series. The guy marches to his own drummer so not sure how he'd be in a young locker room. So, risky choice. Possible high reward, possible disaster. I'd probably pass on him now.

Weird. When they fired the GM it sounded like they were giving Sutter the green light to shape and mold the team. Guess they changed their minds and I guess that also likely means a huge rebuild won't be happening either.

I think Power makes the 3 in the Calder, but he won't win. That's it. -

Not sure choked is the right word. They were only really good in one game (game 3). Florida was the better team in most games and the Bruins were under pressure a lot. Tkachuk played Bruins hockey, Bruins for the most part did not. Still, if Marchand scores on the last second breakaway in game 5 series ends with Bruins going on to play the Leafs. Sports is like that. Hero to zero in seconds or on one play. Lots of different ways to look at things, but Bruins are done. Go Kraken. -

My real response would get me muted. You can figure it out. Do you not feel it's a sad state of affairs when the only pleasure you as a fan have is failure from other teams, because your team has done nothing for you to cheer about. Yup, it's a bad day in Bruins land. Fans there are having a meltdown. But it's still been a bad decade in Sabres land. That hurts me personally a lot more. You? -

Yup, that kind of sucks. Still, got more than the Sabres. -

I love the way the Kraken play. What a gutsy effort. Bjorkstrand was super human tonight. I said it before and I will say it again, that team is being built the right way. -

Possible, definitely possible, but Leafs aren't as good in tight as Florida was and that's what really gave the Bruins the most trouble. Leafs don't have that kind of tenacity and Bruins could likely manage the puck better at the pace they are more comfortable with. Bruins might still have lost to Leafs though. Bergeron is apparently playing hurt and so was Krejci. Not just old. Bergeron supposedly has a herniated disc and really wasn't himself. -

I'm not livid. Disappointed but I don't get overly emotional about Bruins stuff. They are the B team. If Kraken lose tonight I got nobody to cheer for this year though. I will tell you what though. SABRES better get it together and become a playoff team next year cause I think the Bruins era is over. It's time. -

and I'd have them losing to Carolina if it weren't for the key Carolina injuries, hence the pathway for Toronto. I think the defensive depth will kill them. A couple of them are banged up and I'm not sure how long they can keep it going. Hope they do, hate the Leafs, but I just don't see it. -

No. That would have helped the Bruins cruise through. We do not forecheck, play physical and dominate in front the way the Panthers did. It's an aggressive style that gave the Bruins problems all year, not just in this series, and it's absolutely NOT how we play. -

Not deep though. I think they shot their bolt in this series and will burn out. They will give Toronto some problems in front of the net here and there but overall I doubt they can sustain this level. Sadly, Toronto has a winnable pathway to the Stanley Cup. -
This day on Sabres history- The beginning of suffering
PerreaultForever replied to Weave's topic in The Aud Club
I think the word "some" (suffering) was used a little too loosely here. That's very true that it usually (and should) take less time but we are in the 2nd (or 3rd depending on how you look at it) full rebuild with no success from the first. As for Tampa, well, they already won a cup and then rebuilt and then won a few more so I wouldn't be shocked if they drop off for a few years and then are right back in the mix in another 3 or 4. Boston loses tonight and the talk will all be about how their time is over and their cupboard is bare too. Washington and Pittsburgh will have a hard time staying in the mix if they aren't already out of it. The time is right for Sabres, Senators, Red Wings, all to make the right moves and take their places. -

Maybe. If they lose for sure. If they win they might still make switches. Foligno out is a good move. He hasn't been impressive. Most interesting (if it's true) is Gryzlyk with McAvoy and Orlov with Forbert. Balancing the 3 D pairs rather than loading up and going primarily with 4 in a game 7. This move will be controversial with fans if they lose. Forbert hasn't been very good. It will be interesting to see what Lindy does as well. Shmid came in and played great but Rangers sort of seemed to have figured him out last game so will he stick with him or go back to the season starter? Tough decision. -

Ryan Reynolds: part of group bidding on Senators
PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Sure, but I don't see a name on that list with Ryan Reynolds sort of cache or trendiness. Sell it to Elon Musk and let him launch rockets between periods. Kidding of course, but I kind wish he would just sell it to somebody who would keep it there and do something new and exciting. -
