GDT: NJ Devils @ Buffalo Sabres, 10-5-2019, 7pm ET (MSG, WGR)

I think the Penguins totally suck this year. Jersey will be a better test. Columbus is a top notch team the following game and will be an even bigger one. Excited to see what the team brings. -
I hope he can get Eichel to stop chugging four cups of coffee hours before the hockey game. Seems like he’s just providing him an espresso machine instead
-
McCabe was great out there he deserved it. The aggressive style suits him better than what Housley was doing. Miller was having a funky night and is probably what took away from Dahlin. I liked the third line more than the second line that’s the only decision I was confused by.

Team was aggressive and rewarded for it all game. Penguins defense was bad and they are a bottom 10 team. Only Malkin was any dangerous for them. Start to finish the Sabres played their game. Something they never could do last year. McCabe gets the first star from me. He was strong out there and seemed to quickly win every single puck battle he had. Haven’t been optimistic with him in a couple years- maybe Housley really screwed with him. Going to be a good season if he keeps that pace up. Sheary finished. Mittelstadt made things happen. Don’t feel like they got many minutes? Wished to see more from the trio. Fourth line was great. Okposo reminds me of stone hands Grier. But not in the good way. Would rather see Thompson or Rodrigues out there than him. The second line rose above expectations. Sobotka is a completely different player out there. He still seems bad to me though and can’t wait for him to be replaced. Reinhart did really well. Oloffson struggled to get open. Eichel underwhelmed. He is much better than he showed out there. Joki and Scandella frighten me a little, but they had no glaring problems out there even against Malkin/Crosby. I am just being super critical though. Start to finish that was a good game to watch and overall the team was enjoyable to watch. No struggles or problems. The inability to breakout has suddenly disappeared and with a handful of stretch passes and breakaways to boot. Where on earth did that come from? They bury some of those and the score runs away. If Eichel meets his potential the score runs away too, and he will in time. Had a lot of faith in Krueger. He didn’t let me down. He gave full praise to the players in the post game and I’m sure they took it to heart. Can’t wait for Saturday -

He has been much improved no doubt. I still think he’s the weakest link and Rodrigues should get his nod soon. Okposo isn’t far behind losing his spot either. -

Sobotka is much better than any game last year. But he’s been our worst forward too. -

Wouldn’t be a Pens game without the refs rigging the game -

Glad Eichel’s PP isn’t out there for the whole 2 minutes anymore. -

Count maybe 6 penalties in three minutes. At least they called two of them -

Pre-season performance mattered, and Rodrigues sucked at camp this year. -

Will they not dress? My main concern is that 3rd pairing, which is a placeholder for 2 injuries. Sobotka on the 2nd line will have a magnifying glass by most. Miller has been impressive, but Crosby and Malkin are true tests for them they won't have it easy. Curious to see how much that 3rd line shows up tonight. It's three players who are streaky. -

They don't even list the actual position he's playing! I'm much more pumped for this season than last year. If you aren't, I don't think you're being rational at all. -
Bunch of unrealistic crap here that a new coach can't take into consideration if he's going to expect any of his players to believe when he says there's an 'open competition' in camp.
-
But he was better than Rodrigues in pre-season, and that's all that counts for tomorrow's roster under a new coach.

No A for Risto or Okposo. Start the speculation! e: Thank god they took it away from Bogosian. -

I think the coaching change will be everything we ever wanted. The simpler hockey will be more entertaining than the crap we saw last year, even if we lose. And Johansson is going to be more of a factor in the turnaround than many of the fans currently recognize. Miller's contribution is being underrated as well. We had huge problems with our depth last year that has been addressed quite well I believe. A 2RW pending, and Montour injury probably delaying a Ristolainen trade to acquire that 2RW, but a month from that final roster change is enough. -
Who is playing a different position than when he was a bottom 5 player, and is playing with a guy who plays his own game anyway, and a center most fans here have no experience watching at all either. All under a new coach with a simpler system, that may just address that player's main problems in the first place. He played for bad coaches in St Louis too, which mind you, was a team that was DEAD LAST last season until they had a coaching change literally turn the team around into a cup finish. Personally, I see Sobotka's spot, and Rodrigues as the extra, being a quick swap a few games in as whatever the hell was going wrong with Rodrigues in pre-season quells, and Sobotka's real-game flaws become more apparent to the new coach.

Sobotka has been a tire-fire at center, but he hasn't really played winger for us much. Maybe he just isn't quite the drag at wing? Ya'll are so damn negative. It's getting as bad as HFBoards over here all of a sudden
