  1. Yeah, the reporting that "Sabres paying bonus makes trade less likely" goes against my intuition
  2. Maybe I'm going insane- the first time I clicked, it didn't work. Then I clicked a few minutes later, and it worked...
  3. can somebody post that TSN streaming link again? I forgot where it was posted originally
  4. Perhaps they have more than 1 good deal on the table, and they're trying to leverage them... "He's yours if you pay the bonus"
  5. but don't forget, Lehner could make big, impressive saves when we were down 4-1 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd
  6. Are they mistaken? Don't they know TPegs is mr deep pockets?
  7. Besides our good players becoming better (Casey, Eichel, Samson, Guhle), I think not having Lehner will have the most noticeable impact on this team's improvement in the coming season. I'm thrilled.
  8. My impression is not that the NHL "likes" the agreement, but rather, the Canadians in the NHL bureaucracy uphold it as a pro-Canada measure. The CHL feels its ticket sales would decline if they lost talent to the NHL sooner. As mentioned above, I don't think this jibes with a "free-market" approach of league relationships. It is very protectionist of the Canadians- but having lived there for a couple of years, they are very protectionist with so many of their policies, vis-a-vis the USA
  9. I know from a source that he is a severe head-case. Not what we want in our locker room, I'd have to believe
  10. You could tell Dahlin was tired, but he had the skill to go end-to-end. With 3-on-3 format and having defensive responsibility, he can't compete with a forward who can float in the high slot in the d-zone. He had to constantly go from deep in his d-zone to the opposite end of the ice, and then back-check when the other team gained possession. Not a good format for him to show what he can do. Wait till preseason, though ;)
  11. Watch it again. Pekar was trying to be cute and had his head down, and went right at Dahlin. Dahlin just stood his ground.
  12. I think everyone is going to be so pleasantly surprised with how much better we will do than Lehner. Not that the options are great, but the ineptitude of Lehner will be even more apparent
  13. I was referring to the sentiment that Reinhart go directly to Rochester after being drafted. I thought that's what all of us wished would have happened.
  14. Sorry if this has already been stated- JBot's whole philosophy of building a team through the AHL affiliate is undermined by the CHL agreement. I can understand why there could be both practical reasons and political reasons for his preference. I also know from a personal source that, at the start of last season, he was dying to trade Reinhart- a guy that was not "allowed" to develop Jbot's preferred way (in the AHL) due to the CHL agreement. Would it be a stretch to say Reinhart may have had a more positive development curve if he had developed in the AHL? I'm not sure, but I do think that the CHL agreement is short-sighted and may damage Canadian hockey/prospects in the long run. I hated it from the beginning- Canadians need to bolster their precious junior leagues, to the detriment of world-class prospects, and possibly the NHL.
  15. My impression was that a deal was only being considered by JBot if it included #3oa+ That doesn't indicate to me that he's trying to move him. It indicates he's asking a price that shows how much he values him. Perhaps he values him more than other GM's- and I'm fine with that
  16. Just reading these names- if this core can't start winning, especially without an enormous liability named Lehner in net, we're really in trouble. This year should be our best season in a while
  17. I wonder if he was invited, or he threatened their management
  18. I bet ROR doesn't get moved. I bet other GM's are assuming they can get him for less than his true value, due to the comments he made. However, as we know, the interpretation is probably quite overblown. The fact that he's generating so much interest in something for us to be pretty positive about, though.
  19. Not harmless, but not class 4 felony. Just stupid, plain and simple
  20. That criteria already excludes Lehner There's a reason there are no longer "Hextall type players" with NHL starting goaltender jobs
  21. You can't say that. Lehner will not get a starting job in the NHL. Ullmark still has yet to prove himself, but his fundamentals are far more sound than Lehner's.
  22. I agree that after Tavares et all are spoken for, O'Reilly's value will increase. I believe there will be a team out there willing to overpay for him. The question becomes- will the return jibe with Botterill's vision for the team? Can he make it work with his vision? Even if you can get an "over-payment," isn't it still necessary that those pieces work with your system? If they don't, might we still be better off sticking with ROR?
  23. They're not mutually exclusive And we don't have an opportunity to do any "winning" between now and June, and I'm sure we'd like a better image for free agents this off-season
