  1. I know this type of optimism is borderline delusional, but- Any chance JBot/Wowie are privy to some medical/physio information that makes them confident Bogo is good to go for a full season? I suggest this because I'm not totally convinced people on this board are smarter than JBot/Wowie
  2. And the twitter guy was complaining about him posting pictures fishing, if I understand correctly. That's a cheap shot, IMO.
  3. Why? To co-anchor a line with Okposo? Or to make up for the lack-of-speed we lost with O'Reilly? Foligno has no place on this team. I shudder just thinking about him on Eichel's wing again.
  4. Yeah, it was kind of a rhetorical question. Although it seems some here are unwittingly hoping for it
  5. I'm guessing he's "trying" every day. Probably more than most realize. The issue is whether or not there is an available move that is actually worthwhile. Here's another question: should he make a move that may not benefit us, just to appear like he's trying to do something?
  6. I expect our PP to be firing right off the bat. And no Beaulieu/Lehner tandem to combine forces for SH GA's
  7. And if those season aren't taken advantage of, look at the bright side- imagine how many 1st rounders we could get dealing Eichel ?
  8. I also remember a times last year when Gorges was our only d-man who would step up at the blue line to prevent a zone entry
  9. Any speculation on Samson's perspective? Is he gonna hold out for max term, or is he content to sign a bridge?
  10. So are some of the best scouts in the league ? ...so no shame in that!
  11. Another thought- Vegas did so well because they had the right mix of both talent, and an attitude of "I'll show you that you should have protected me." JBot is doing well to fill the pipeline with players who have that attitude- players who want to prove what they've got. Ruff and 90s Nolan new how to get that out of players. I think JBot is trying to recreate that same spirit, from the GM side of things. We also have elite talent on the team. It's going to click soon.
  12. I think they come out of the gate with a fire lit under their collective ####. I think there will be a new energy in the organization, and a new sense of "if I don't get it done, there's somebody waiting in the wings to take my spot and put me on the AHL bus" I think this will actually bring positive things out of a Zemgus Girgensons type character. Not saying he makes it out with his job- that depends a lot on how Wowie uses him.
  13. I remember there being quite a bit of commentary on here about how much more Eichel was being forced to develop his defensive, 2-way center game (relative to his first 2 years). I remember all of us rejoicing at this, knowing he'd have to step up in this role while still producing offensively If he is who we hope he is, he should take a big step forward in both aspects this season
  14. I swear I'm not playing dumb- I don't understand the relevance of that quote vis-a-vis my assessment
  15. I hope so. Otherwise, we get Derek Grant winning a roster spot because he shines against preseason (AHL) competition
  16. What you call "balls," I call character weakness. This is the NHL, not group therapy. A leader's job is to push through adversity and hold people accountable, but stay positive. It's hard to do- that's why true leaders are hard to come by. O'Reilly fancies himself a leader. The feelings he had are understandable, but they should have stayed between him and his therapist.
  17. Captains don't lose passion ...or at least, they don't admit it
  18. You have some inside information that his game is about to drop off? He's not a player who relies on skating/speed. Compete level plays such an important role in that position, and his level was off-the-charts during their playoff run. I'll bet on his contract paying off
  19. He earned that contract. He played unbelievably. I'm sure he's a major draw for the new franchise. Don't understand the flack.
  20. Nassau County has a way more passionate hockey fan-base than Newark I've been on the Long Island RR before Islander games. They love hockey on the Island The Devils would definitely deserve the "red-headed stepchild" designation
  21. Who would they be competing with for 2nd?
  22. We don't have to be worried about what he'll look like in a couple of years, but his current frame as an NHL defenseman could be a shot-term liability. Ekblad was considered "NHL-ready" and draft sites listed him at 6'4", 216lbs And Pekar isn't exactly a tank out there (yet)
  23. Don't leave those of us who don't know in the dark- how does the CBA treat local income taxes?
