I'm sure the plan was never to get rid of any of them and to keep the core but when players are openly saying they don't want to play here and are open to be dealt then you can't keep those types of players around, those are the culture killers that plague teams like ours and as much as I liked Reinhart and Eichel they have been playing together for years and still can't get us a playoff birth so something needed to give at some point. You state no players in return but Hagg is most likely a stop gap for a season and I'm going to assume GMKA made the deal thinking the G was going to be our starter or at least compete for the job whether some like it or don't it appears to be that way and we got more draft picks in case certain players dont work out so I believe we got a few guys and if Eichel is dealt I'm assuming most of the help will come from that trade.

I fully expect to bre near the bottom of the league but if the kids look competitive and improve season to season that is what I'm hoping for.

We're about to find out if Sam, Risto and Jack were the problems. I don't love the return but it was better than what the Rangers got for Buchnevich and if we change the culture of that locker room also it will be huge for us.

After seeing what the Rangers got for Buchnevich I wasn't very excited about this trade but I believe Sam, Risto and Jack are part of the culture killers here imo so I think fresh start is a must for those 3.

Finally! We took a Russian and it appears we took a very good 1 at that. Some of the draft gurus mentioned they thought he'd go in the late 1st round.

You should be a scout , being able to predict the future will probably get you in right away.

How about Ristolainen for G Carter Hart and a draft pick? They're sour on Hart, we're sour on Risto...win-win?

I'm not a fan of Ullmark but if we signed him for a reasonable bridge deal I'd like it a little better. If we over payed for an average at best G then I can't say I'd like it that much for us.

I'm really surprised they didnt select any big time names like Tarasenko, Price along with many others.

I saw an interesting Eichel trade, I'm not sure who the guy was in the hockey world as I caught the tail end of it but it was C Jack Eichel and the #1 overall pick to the Anaheim Duck for Trevor Zegras, D Jamie Drysdale and the #3 overall pick. We get a top prospect on both offense and defense and could go in either direction.... F, G or D with that pick. Hughes/Eklund top G prospect. I'm sure it's just that guys opinion but I think this looks fair on both sides, how about you all?

It would have been cool to watch Borgen and Power destroying people but I'm good with this if we get at least a decent return for Risto but I have my doubts since this guy has been on the block what seems like 4 years in a row now and nothing.

I think at the end of the day we trade Jack Eichel to the NY Rangers since they have the prospects/draft picks and cap space but it wont be for the haul we were hoping for. I just don't think Kevyn Adams is a wheeling and dealing type of GM (Not that I think he's a bad one yet either). That being said I think we'll deal Eichel, retain some of Eichels salary and our 2nd round #53 OA pick to the NY Rangers for RW Kaapo Kakko, Rangers 1st round pick this year, 1st round pick next year and G prospect Olof Lindbom.

You take the 2 best players... D Owen Power is and should be the consensus #1 pick for us, we do need scoring but we shouldn't reach for it. If we acquire the Ducks 3rd overall then LW/C William Eklund makes the most sense.... I have Beniers going 2nd overall. That would be a heck of a haul for us to be honest and a great step in the right direction imo.

I'm so confused, how did the Leafs give up a 1st+4th for Nick Foligno who has 3 less points than Hall yet we retained half Halls slalary and threw in Lazar and only get a 2nd and some shitbird who nobody has ever heard of? It's inexcusable. We need a solid GM who's been there before along with a HC who's coached before. Why would we take on another rookie GM, this trade was bush league. Montour/Hall/Lazar has only netted us a 2nd/3rd and some tool who'll probably never suit up for us.

I don't understand this thinking, is Reinhart not a 60+ point player? Why would we give up a 60+ point player for any reasoning? If anything you just split Sam and Jack, I'm not really understanding the logic. I got why we would trade Ristolainen for a 2nd line Center at the beginning of the season but trading Sam for a guy who most definitely isn't going to bring us 60+ points and another draft pick seems like a terrible idea to me.

Awesome back to back victories but not to be a debbie downer, didn't we win 10 straight last season? Just saying there is so much more season left to play, I love what they're doing so far though, they look really good.
