They should have traded for O'Reilly.

Everyone in sports hates losing, everyone of these guys are competitors, only the selfish express that to the media. No need to give them even more fuel to the fire and the words he said also linger with others in the locker room, that's what creates bad environments in the first place.

Anyone who openly admits to losing the passion for the game to social media outlets should be immediately jettisoned the hell out of here whether we all knew it or not, this from a guy who drove drunk straight into a Timmy Ho's? STFU and play your ass off, you're on a young team and you're preaching like I've lost the love of the game? If he's on the team still I'd be disappointed in Botteril but I'm pretty sure the rumblings are already in the works and have been for awhile.

How about F Andrei Svechnikov, F Filip Zadina, F Jesperi Kotkenemimi or just trade the 3rd for an established fast, scoring Forward at RW or LW.

I don't think O'Reilly will be traded for draft picks I think he''l be traded for an established player, possibly a Defenseman like a Tyson barrie of COL or Kris Letang of Pittsburgh then trade Ristolainen for a top Winger like Pacioretty and a draft pick? Makes more sense imo.

Reinhart's play has gone up each season so there is hope, I think it's a stretch to think he's more than a 50 pt player at this point but I could be wrong.

I think he'd be a great fit, I doubt he goes to the worst place team but if he sees potential to be the "missing piece", I doubt he's coming back just for the money, he was making bank in Russia so who knows, at 35 he'd still be our best winger by quite a large margin, I've been watching him over in the KHL, he's still quick, top scorer there and that piece on , the barstool column was complete trash, who reads that ? Anyways I was just seeing what the consensus would be.

I've always been a big fan of Kovalchuck, he's a hard worker, a goal scorer and seems like a decent dude from what I read. Many people think he abandoned the Devils but he was offered around the same money to play closer to home, can't say I fault anyone for that. Any possible way he'd want to come here and play with the youngins? Is he strickly going to play for a Stanley Cup caliber team? Would we have the cap to sign him? All I know is that he'd be an upgrade to Kane imo. What do you guys think?

I think O'Reilly is part of the problem here unfortunately, he's in a system that relies on forwards getting up the ice fast, something he doesn't do well, he's a decent player but for what he's worth I don't like the fit, he 's a great face off guy, that landed us last place in the league so I'm sure there's a better fit out there. I'd love for them to land a top 4 d-man with O'Reilly and a top 6 forward with Ristolainen. I think this team would be better off without those guys who don't "fit the process", just my opinions.

This seems to be who Reinhart is, which is a complimentary player rather than a difference maker, he disappeared when games were on the line, like he did the year before. I wouldn't go over paying for him because he's scoring goals with nothing on the line. Just my opinion, I'm still hoping he's dealt at the Draft for a solid D-Man while we pickup Svechnikov.

It was the right thing to do then and I still support it, unfortunately our ex GM's vision didn't pan out but with the right moves Botteril can right a sinking ship, getting either Svechnikov or Dahlin will be a great start and we'll be faster soon, with Nylander/Middlestadt, team speed is needed desperately. The good thing out of all this bad is that Reinhart is finally looking decent again.

If we don't end up winning the top pick in the lottery, please let us get Svechnikov, this kid looks like he could be a faster version of Cam Neely. Big, powerful, hard to knock off the puck, scores, passes well, fast, hits.

It always seems like a mirage, where is he during the season when there is actually playoffs on the line? He's a very streaky player and I know scorers go through this where they don't score sometimes but he is almost never to be found during the beginning of seasons.

I don't think the team speed is over exaggerated at all. In HC Phil Housley's system which Jason Botteril and Phil Housley explained in the press conferences upon hiring, his system calls for the defense to quickly move the pucks up the ice where we use team speed to enter the zone. Other than Eichel who is not a speed demon but does posses the necessary wheels but who else fits that description on our roster from our forward group? Reinhart, Okposso, O'Reilly? None of them do and that's why this team is struggling mightily, you hired a coach preaching team speed yet we dont have it. We can live with O'Reilly being not so fast but then that leaves us with Reinhart and Okposso, we need to trade these 2 to the highest bidder and it's not that they aren't talented it's just that they don't fit what were trying top do here imo. The hope now is that Alexandre Nylander isn't a bust because he fits the mold, he's not only fast but he's skilled as well, same goes for Casey Middlestadt, not a trail blazer like Nylander but very quick up the ice.D Brendan Guhle should also help the team speed on the defensive side. So alot of hope surrounds 2 players who've spent limited time in the NHL and 1 player who has yet the touch the NHL ice but hope none the less.

With only 10 months on the job it's not enough for me to go by, I'd like to see what he can do next season but you can tell he's really got an eye for our AHL team which is a great start, fixing up the prospects mess down there and adding guys that will be able to transition, weed out the ones who can't. I loved the Scandella pick, I'm really hoping we land either Dahlin or Svechnikov in the draft, anything other than those 2 after this season would be total BS but Bettman already makes a shitload off the Buffalo area regardless if we blow or not so I'm sure we'll get over in the rigged lottery. I think we should go after D Alexei Emelin (Nashville) and LW James Van Reimsdyk both are FA. JVR speed would be much welcomed, Emelin has familiarity in Housley's system. Resign G Chad Johnson, F C.J Smith and Wilson, Trade Lehner at the draft to free up cap space.

I agree and the biggest thing we've been lacking is team speed, he is quite fast, skilled, was the 2016 AHL rookie of the year, I really like him and think he could be an asset for us, even as a 3rd line C.

I thought it was a decent return. O'Reagan is a decent prospect, AHL rookie of the year in 2016. Played with Eichel and we get a 1st next season. My only regret is that we didn't trade more players.

The Stars make sense, I know the GM has said he wont be forced into a rental but it's a good opportunity for them as they are at the bottom of the playoff list..... Trade LW Evander Kane to the Dallas Stars for Dallas Stars 1st round pick in 2018, G Kheri Lehtonen (Salary dump), G Jake Oettenger, D Joseph Cecconi, LW Roop Hintz. Jake Oettenger is a great G prospect, we get the 1st, Dallas gets a top 6 and Dump Lehtonen's contract although he's playing well. Stars have 880K cap space, Lehtonen, plus we retain half of Kane's salary makes this deal doable.

I just hope the Kane deal isn't the only deal out there, I'd like to see Lehner traded and I hate to say it but Reinhart just doesn't look good at all, he is so plotting slow that I don't know if he'll ever be a sufficient player. Nathan Beaulieu is another guy, he could be depth for another team but he just looks lost here.This team needs an identity and they need to focus on Jack, how can they turn this guy into the true player he's capable of becoming.

I don't believe it's the coach, 1st it was Lindy Ruff being tuned out, then Dan Bylsma and now Phil Housley, the lunatics are running the asylum and it needs to be put to rest, Identify which players refuse to buy in and get rid of them, Kane is an obvious play, the guy is not a teammate, he is selfish and only cares about padding stats, I would get what I could and part ways, how and why it's taken this long to ship him is beyond me other than greed. I get that you want to get the most value for said player but if he's a detriment to your team during the process then he's doing more harm than good. Every single player not named Eichel/Ristolainen should have a price tag, we need speed around those players, speed is what will make this system work and guys like O'Reilly, Reinhart don't have the necessary speed to fit this system so it's time to bring in players who fit imo.

I heard on a coworkers sirius satellite sports channel (not sure which one), I caught the tail end of it but it said Colorado and Buffalo were talking a trade for Tyson Barrie, did anyone hear it also?

Enjoy them winning meaningless games? There is zero chance they make the playoffs but hey now we'll pick 9th or 10th lose a shot at an elite player because they need those 5 extra wins to tell themselves they're better than how their playing, what a crock of ######. I have watched less than a handful of games all season, they're unwatchable and should have stayed that way until the end like they were supposed to.

This is pretty much like all of Buffalo sports teams, they were well on their way at picking up a complete stud like Dahlin or Svechnikov and now go on a meaningless win streak only to knock themselves out of contention, winning meaningless games at the end of the season will do nothing. The core guys have been playing together for 3 seasons now, how much time do they need to gel with one another? I get that it's a new system but they should know each other by now, obviously something is broken, Botteril needs to fix it.

We need speed, TKachuck is out, he is more of the same that we already have, a slow skilled player with hockey IQ, we need Svechnikov, he is the speedy winger but he's also 6'2" and scrappy. If we fall out of top 2 I agree we will be in on a defensemen, hoping Boqvist as I think he's the next best defensemen not named Dahlin.
