  1. One other note, when TB was down going into the 3rd and needed to score at least 2 goals and pulled their goalie w 5 minutes left, they were outshot by the Sabres 13 to 11 and outscored 3-0.
  2. This team isn’t devoid of talent. We have 5 top 10 picks, 4 other 1st rd picks, a former Hobey Baker winner and a guy who has scored 39 goals in only 122 games.
  3. Sabres have scored 5 goals in 3 of 6 games. It took until game 38 last year to have 3 games with 5 or more goals (they had 6 such games all season 5 of which DG was the coach).
  4. I’m sorry but I don’t think TB outplayed the Sabres. They had a couple of times they hemmed us in our zone, but not many. We did a good job of counter punching, making them most of our opportunities and disrupting the flow of their game. It was a very solid win. It actually reminded me of the Peca lead Sabres. No stars, except Hasek, but 60 minutes of effort.
  5. Just finished the game. Wow! It wasn’t pretty but a complete team effort. Not sure any one player stood out, except Anderson. Great D plays by Pysyk and Bryson on breakaways. Kind of arrogant by TB to pull their goalie with 5 minutes left. I don’t think it mattered. Elliott was awful on a couple of the goals. Not sure why the hit on Cozens wasn’t a penalty.
  6. Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff? Yes!
  7. Any injury update on Mitts or Joki?
  8. When is the last time the Sabres developed a top 6 center outside the top 10 picks? Derek Roy in 2001? What about before that? How about Tucker and Ruutu in 1983 (Adam Creighton was taken 14th overall that year, but I don’t consider him a top 6 center). Not exactly a long list of success. Besides Turgeon and Perreault, (both 1st overall), those 3 have the most career points by a Sabres drafted center. I can see Eichel, Reinhart, Cozens and Mitts surpassing Roy (524 pts), Tucker (436) and Ruutu (432), but they are all top 10 picks. Ultimately it’s hard to develop centers from any round if you don’t draft any.
  9. It might, but that won't happen for me until I see him against pros. I will also never like that he traded him inside the division.
  10. Born and raised is Williamsville NY. Played hockey in the Amherst leagues and then at Nichols. Went to college at Indiana University and then Emory Law School. Met a wonderful young lady from Marietta GA and have been here ever since. Wife and daughters went to UGA and after 30 years of attending games have grown into a pretty big UGA fan, but still love my Hoosiers and Bills. Used to go to the Sabres/Thrashers games here and have road tripped to Raleigh to see the boys. Raised two avid Sabres fans.
  11. Sam has 4pts in 5 games (2,2) and a +4. He is a terrific player and should have been part of something great here. I wish him well. Honestly I wish he was still here centering our top line. My only complaint is that KA didn’t get enough for him.
  12. What I really want to know is when someone is going to pound Marchand through the ice.
  13. They both will be at those levels and soon. I had Cozens as a disappointment this season after a lousy camp, but he is a special player. He has skill, work ethic and most of all heart. He is already the best forward on this team from what I’ve seen so far this season. He’ll be a 20 goal player this season if he keeps at his current level.
  14. like R2 he is going to need 20 lbs and get stronger on the puck to make it long term
  15. Do you think this hire will help us move on from the JAGs sooner? Seriously, what do Cagguila, Bjork, or Hayden actually bring to this team?
  16. I’d would gave like to have seen the extras as well.
  17. Former Bill Chris Hogan has retired.
