"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition
Derrico replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
Ya it sounds like we should get more out of that deal after doing some more reading on him. I honestly have no idea what Ott will bring back in a trade I guess. I would think pretty decent and if it's Ottawa I would try and get a draft pick out of them as they are no lock to win a playoff round. I'd much rather get a 1st out of Ottawa then a 1st out of a powerhouse in the west or Pitt or Boston in the east. Then again if it's Murray trading for him I'd feel at ease as I'm sure he has the most intimate knowledge of their farm/young players. -

Just for fun what would be the return from Ottawa? Shane Prince? He fits the bill of a decent prospect a couple of years into his development. There was obviously that other stuff about wanting out of Ottawa as well. -

Ahhhhh, thanks. So if the deal is in place then why has there been no announcement yet? If this is true, it must be announced soon as there's no way Ott would play tomorrow night. -

Who the heck is hockeyscanner and why does it say the page does not exist when you click on it? I think this may be closer to the less substantiated BS. -
If we play .500 the rest of the way fine. I worry about playing over .500. But as others have mentioned, if Miller goes, my fears will greatly decrease. I guess I've just seen this rerun too many times now. I also saw what Teddy was able to do with a Latvian club devoid of talent.

My concern is if we continue to win and end up in 2nd and lose the lottery, thus drafting 3rd. Now there's a good chance Edmonton is ahead of us and if they are they will likely take Ekblad. But if we pick 3rd and both Sam's go 1 and 2 I would seriously give a lot more thought to take Ek over someone like LD or Dal Colle. I would also be trying to trade up a spot or 2 if we end up in 3rd but if we can't then I I'm not sure which way to lean. Probably Dal Colle but I'd be OK with going Ek in that spot and try moving one of our young D.

If we trade Miller I'm not too concerned as it's rare we will put up 5 in a night (which we will need to do regularily). Having said that, a loss tomorrow night will make me feel much better.

I'm pretty sure it happened in Colorado once too but I'm blanking on who the player was right now. Adam Foote maybe? -

I'm not trying to direct this specifically at you but I've read a couple times already about trading up to #1 next year. This will not happen period. If we end up at #1 would you consider trading out of acquiring an absolute franchise changing player? No way I or any other team does. Colorado was loaded at centre last year but wouldn't trade out of taking McKinnon. No chance anyone trades out of McDavid, even for Eichel. I really hope I don't have to read 5 million posts about trading up to #1 next year because it will not happen. -

Did he get hurt last night? I didn't notice while watching. -
Yep, I agree with pretty much all of that. I don't want this big Miller decision (assuming there is even a decision which I doubt very much based on Millers attitude towards resigning) coming down to well we could only get a 2nd round pick rather than a 1st so let's lock him up.

Now do you really believe Phoenix will have a team in 2020?? :P -
He could but I would think that he knows if he signs with a contender it's much less likely than a bottom feeder who's appeared to have been dangling him for awhile now.
-
I think the problem with this was well pointed out by Tank that why would Miller resign with Buffalo if there is even a hint that he will be traded in a couple of years? Why wouldn't Miller say thanks but no thanks, I'll sign for big money on my terms in a couple of months.

Tank on Brother. Tank on. -
I've posted this in the Miller thread but I say absolutely not.

But is that not a Darcy move to see we can't get a ton for him at the deadline so we try and scramble and sign him. I for once want us to think long term, have a plan in place and go with it. It has seemed obvious to me that TM has wanted to trade Miller rather than re-sign. So get what you can (even if it's considerably less than you want) and follow the plan you have in place. I don't want him to go for nothing either but signing Miller to a Lundqvist type contract is a huge decision that I dont want to be decided based on a potential deadline deal in 2014 that may or may not materialize. I agree on the Darcy fu$king us over part. I guess I'm just getting tired of these reactionary moves....

Is anyone else troubled by if the reports that if the Sabres are unable to trade Miller by the deadline they are going to try and re-sign him? I want this new management team to have clear direction. Paying a ton of money to a goalie can have a huge impact on the future shape of this team. I'm not sayinjg I want or don't want them to re-sign Miller but if your decision is to trade him and move on then that's what you do. I don't want a lack of demand for a rental goalie at the deadline to force managements hand to re-sign him. Make your decision and stick to it!

Prediction time: who's getting traded, and when?

Completely agree with you and Weave on the Miller front. Although if you're the Blues and see what happened at the olympics, how could you not think about upgrading? -
Great win by the Canadians but it was pretty expected. I figured the winner of that canada us game would win gold. Unbelievable defence all tourney. Party time in canada!!
