  1. Sorry about that. I thought at the time it was you but after skimming your posts in this thread I don't see it. My bad.
  2. Really? As I said, you have to add the tirefire Maple leafs to the first group. Ottawa went on a great run with some goalie that love McDonalds. They were a bottom feeder the first half of the year. Boston is getting much older now. Same for Detroit. Florida is getting better but not there yet. Tampa is a good team. Montreal is a flawed team IMO.
  3. Yep, I agree with this but am leaning more towards the playoff side. Rookies will be rookies but when was the last time a team had back to back 2nd overall picks and started them in the same season? Who were our centres last year? This year we could easily be looking at Reinhart, Eichel, Girgs, Grigo and Larsson. Holy that's a huge upgrade from our two years of DFL. I told you not to do it man. I warned you  I'll take the first group please. Don't forget Toronto.
  4. Oh ya, it's tough to really judge at this point. What got me thinking this was Tank saying we are still three years out before we start really winning. I just think there's a decent chance we're close to a playoff team by next season. But they play in the west. Wasn't that all that was said in the Carrion Thread? How tough is our division really?
  5. Maybe a bit of a dream but I don't think it's a pipe dream. I think the goal is absolutely the playoffs. Nobody will be heartbroken if we don't make it but see development but after watching the Flames dramatic ascension in the standings in one season I thought why not us? What good young players do they have that we don't? If you look at going from 54 or whatever points to 100 it does look crazy. But when you consider the franchise (won't admit it) but obviously did not ice the best roster possible last season and we may be changing 3 to 4 of our top 6 forwards and adding another top 4 dman then it's really not the same team as last year at all. Plus, who knows what else Tim does this offseason.
  6. corrected. I agree with this. My point is Calgary was the third worst team in the league after last season and made it to the second round of the playoffs this season. Why can't that be Buffalo?
  7. I thought the OP was discussing who are the best players if you are building a team. Not who is the best player today. Otherwise the 2015 draft would not be included. Eichel is not the best player today but if I'm building a team today based on any NHL player I think Eichel is top 10.
  8. I wasn't comparing Grigo or Larsson with Monahan. I was comparing Reinhart and Eichel to Monahan. My point is the Sabres are going to turn over more than half their team next season so I'm not sure how much weight you can give to this past years point total.
  9. Come on Thorny, I've got my pick in hand just waiting to give it to the Commish.
  10. I know it seems astronomical looking at their point total from last year and seeing how many more they need. But as I said, look at all the players (particularly top players) who weren't even on the team last year. Heck, Larsson and Grigo looked pretty good late in the year. Maybe they come back and form a formidable third line with Gionta. I'm not guaranteeing playoffs but I think we're getting much closer with the influx of talent coming in. How long will it take the rookies to adjust? Who knows. Also, is Monaghan that seasoned? Wasn't last year just his sophomore season? He didn't even have any AHL time before starting his rookie year in 14/15.
  11. Wow, tons of high end guys sitting in the green room with cameras in their face. Fall down to 10 baby. You will love being the face of the franchise in Colorado.
  12. Hahaha true. So 2015 draft eligible players are in this draft too?
  13. With or without a contract in hand???? Even if it's unsigned. After watching Eichel next week he can sign in the stands.
  14. It was a quick turnaround in Calgary. Our top 6 will hopefully have Eichel, Reinhart and Kane. Half our top 6 that played less than 10 games for us last year. If we can pull in ROR then ur talking 4 of 6! Not to mention risto another year older and adding another top 4 d in pysyk. Throw in a world class coach and I think this is a quick turnaround. Would I bet on playoffs? Probably nothing monetary but wouldn't surprise me either. Look at the jump Calgary made this past year and how can u not like our young guys more?
  15. Wow, if we really get him then giddy up. Playoff projection moves up from 16/17 to this season imo.
  16. Tell me I didn't miss the draft??
  17. How'd McDavids team do though?!?! Go Gens Go!! Go Gens Go!! Seriously the guy was invisible other than that play. Sadly baptist was too.
  18. Hahahhaaha agreed.
  19. Not if ur talking about the blue league (I wish I has smiley face on iPad)
  20. Yep. After getting Rex earlier in the year it makes it feel right. Terry gets what he wants.
  21. I just have this feeling we're getting Babcock. Why not? I would think if the choice is between Edmonton or Buffalo then his family would want to be in Buffalo due to closer proximity to, well everything that matters in comparison to Edmonton. Someone already mentioned the taxes part. He commented after being knocked out of the playoffs that a team needs to be good on the back end and down the middle. The Sabres have both in Spades. BP Oil is loaded up front and I think Nurse will end up being a pretty good player but Buffalo has more going for them right now IMO. Babcock is a smart guy, I would think he sees what's going on in terms of young guys ready to step up over the next couple of years.
  22. Top 5 eh? I could see that. I think he stays in the top 10 atleast.
  23. Counting the 2015 draft and any current player where does McDavid go? Eichel?? If McDavid is suppose to be the next Crosby and Crosby is in consideration for first then does McDavid go 1st overall? Considering the age of Crosby. And yes, I did just quote myself.
