Ducky, I enjoyed reading your insight and perspective up until your last few posts. Seems like you are just trolling now. Hasn't seemed like your character up until this point. I don't watch Armia now that he's on the Jets but he was turning into a bust here and his 3 points in 20+ games sure doesn't scream top 6 forward.

I'm not disagreeing. But thought I read somewhere that Murray has never drafted a Russian player (while in Anaheim or Ott). Could be wrong on that though.

I like the sound of him but I usually skip right over Russian born players with the assumption Murray will never draft one.

I think as of right now the Fins have way too much upside to be in the discussion of taking Chychrun ahead of them. I think there's also very little chance Edmonton takes him in the top 3. Edmonton may look at trading down but I doubt they reach for him there. Two years ago we were thrilled to get Sam because we had good D prospects and zero C depth. Less than 2 years later our needs have completely swaped. In 2 more years they will swap again. That's why you take BPA and figure out the rest via trade or the free agent market. This is also where I'm at. A top 7 pick and I'm happy no matter which one we take. Edit - For me Nylander also belongs in the list of guys I'll be happy with.

Oh God, it's a good question but I'm not sure what it would take. If I dropped from 2 to 5 I would want atleast the other teams 2016 2nd, a 2017 1st (potentially lottery protected) and a decent roster player or prospect. Maybe if you added a lottery protected 2017 1st rounder I would consider your original deal.

I'm probably in this camp. The cap hit will end up being way too rich for my blood. Wasn't the guy playing 3rd line minutes last playoffs? I realize he's a good player but Jon Cooper comes across as a good coach to me and there was obviously something going on there during that playoff run. He's obviously a good player but anything near the league max? No thanks.

I think it's going to take more then that Hoss. To me there is a small drop between 1 and 2-3, a decent drop between 2-3 and 4-7, another decent drop to 8-10. If we win the lottery to pick 2nd then I wouldn't be thrilled with Murray trading down to 5 and receiving a 2nd round pick and a player equivalent to Ennis.

I don't disagree. But Gorges has 2 years left on his deal (or is it only one?). So he's not exactly just a rental. With the way the Dman trade market seems to be potentially drying up I would think he has more trade value then McGinn.

Wow, Buff, Phaneuf and Schultz all off the market within a couple of days. Buff really was holding up the trade market. This must increase the value of any available Dmen. If Gorges could be had for a 1st, we move him right?

Oh I'm very concerned about T.O. The only good thing is I could see the rivalry between these teams come back in spades. In 4 or 5 years I'm predicting a three way battle of Buffalo, Toronto and Florida for the Atlantic. Possibly Tampa in the mix if they can keep Stamkos.

I'm pretty sure that's the same vetting process for every single draft pick. Especially all first rounders.

I get that. But it hasn't really worked out for the majority of the first half of the season (I know injuries also played a roll). For the most part he has been keeping the same three together on each line and although we haven't been scoring at post lockout 2005-2006 levels, we've been (dare I say) good looking team since Girgs has come back and the lines have stayed the same.

How does one earn a shootout spot? Jack has been this teams best player since Christmas IMO, is on a point per game pace since then and has actually scored on breakaways this season. What else does he have to do to 'earn' it?

Dal Colle isn't that good of a player. Great shot on the PP but very one dimensional and not great at board battles. Also disappears from time to time when the moment gets big.
