It’s not what I think is best necessarily, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what happens. I guess the reasoning would because UPL ready to play in the NHL, they like Levi better than Portillo, they have some other roster hole they want to fill, and Portillo is a valuable trade chip.

Wouldn’t be at all surprised if some teams have him ranked very high. I think the team by team rankings for this draft will be all over the place, so probably will be more surprises than normal.
-
Don’t worry, Levi is going to sign this offseason. He is the Sabres’ guy. Wouldn’t be shocked if Portillo ends up as part of a package in a trade for a good roster player.
-
Over the course of the season, Northeastern was a below average NCAA D1 team in terms of shots/scoring chances for and against. Levi’s outstanding performance really elevated them. If they really are exceptionally young, then maybe they will be better next season.
-
He’s initiated a change of organizations 4 times in 4 seasons. That’s not at all normal, but it also does not definitively mean that he is a problem. His production has also not been what was expected of him though. It has been worse than last season.

Why do you think Lambert? How do you square his potential character/personality issues with Adams’ apparent ultra focus on good people and team harmony?
-
This sounds right. Unless he is traded to acquire a different roster player, such as a RHD.
-
A lot of players, even those from Quebec who were Habs fans growing up, do NOT actually want to play there. Between the taxes, weather, and ridiculous media pressure, it’s unattractive to many.

Owen Power. No S. I think Bryson is showing himself to be useful as a guy who can easily play either LD or RD. Having a guy able to switch is valuable. In addition to that, he has played pretty well. With Dahlin, Samuelsson and Power as LHD, it certainly does make playing time for Bryson more of a challenge, but for an organization that is really lacking in RHD, having someone who can play the right side well is very useful right now. Until they bring in a RHD or two to push him out, I think there is a place for Bryson.

I’ve got to get around to really watching some of Nazar. Rapid fire - What are your 3 favorite things about him?

It’s top-10 protected. If the pick ends up in the top 10, Sabres get their 2023 1st instead of the 2022 1st. Unless they loose almost every game for the rest of the season, it won’t be too 10 on points. They will need to win a lottery in order to push it into the top 10, and there is only going to be like a 5% chance of that, at most.

Highest PPG of the group too.

Vegas’ upcoming stretch of games will make or break their season. Their next 7 games are against non-playoff teams. After that their opponents get more difficult. Among those 7 games are 3 against Vancouver, who they are neck and neck with for 9th/10th in the west right now. I think Vegas needs to win minimum of 5 of these next 7 to make the playoffs.

Is the Ducks logo and color change the worst in the NHL?
Curt replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Current logo is not good, old one was much better. Colors aren’t bad but old ones were better and more unique/iconic. Even the name change wasn’t an improvement. Overall, changes get a D grade. -
Going to be working this?

Isn’t every young player a one year wonder the first year that they are good in the NHL? Seriously, what reasons do you have to think that Thompson can’t continue to play at a similar level? What do you think he is doing right now that he won’t be able to do next season?
-
Age 21 - 83 games - 19G - 22A - 41PTS Age 22 - 48 games - 15-19-34 Age 23 - 72 games - 20-24-44 Then he got sick. Hodgson was trending towards being a 2C at least. That actually is living up to expectations for a #10 pick.

People are constantly on here discussing things that I don’t care about at all. I simply don’t engage in the conversation. I do not reply to them to inform them that what they are discussing is “not our concern.”

Very few have watched him play, so not a lot to complain about yet.

Do You Think Sabres Will Make Playoffs Next Year?
Curt replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
I think it depends on what next season’s roster looks like. -
Two things: 1) Where are we? What’s the point of this place? Is it to discuss things that we have control over? That would be news to me. 2) I was explaining to someone how player contract cap hits are calculated. I wasn’t even debating what type of contract Thompson should get, I was just relaying information to a fellow poster. You relied to me saying “Not our concern”. That’s beyond weird.
-
Dahlin has two years left on his contract after this one. He can’t sign an extension before summer 2023.
-
What are you talking about?
-
Front loading, back loading, or paying some as bonuses. None of it changes the cap hit. Cap hit is always the total money payed divided by the number of years. It remains constant each year of the contract.
