True. I like Adams, and maybe he would have liked to start a rebuild immediately upon taking over, but his first season, they were definitely trying to win. They finished dead last instead. We can suspect that Krueger and/or Pegula influenced a lot of things that season, but as GM, Adams has to own that, at least in large part.

Like I said, I’m sure they would understand perfectly, and still would not like it. We spent too long in the xGMTM ZFG, players are just assets era. It pays to treat people well.

For Fitzgerald or Krebs, I could see the argument for it. For Samuelsson, I think it’s completely out of the question because of the huge role that he is playing on the Sabres.

Yeah, but it would also alienate players because you are forcing someone who has proven he is a good NHLer to play in the AHL, costing him not just NHL experience, but hundreds of thousands of dollars. You don’t think that might make players upset? Why not force Power to go to the AHL as well?

I doubt that Asplund has more offensive upside than prime Cody Eakin. Eakin had a 6 year run where he put up 16+ goals 4 times. I don’t think Asplund will ever do that, but I hope he does.

Yeah, they are playing Samuelsson 25 mins a game on their NHL #1 pair and he is excelling. I think his AHL days are done.

The young guys are playing in Buffalo, that’s the excuse, Samuelsson, Power, and Fitzgerald are the only three waiver exempt defensemen in Buffalo. Samuelsson and Power would never be sent down for obvious reasons. With Fitzgerald, I could see argument for a complaint, although he has been playing with the Sabres, but that’s it. There are no waiver exempt players who have been riding the pine in Buffalo as opposed to helping Rochester.

No. I don’t think that the Sabres have too many players that are skilled and fast but small (soft?). I think that it would be good to and a couple more rugged players (that’s true for most every NHL team) and I think that should be a consideration moving forward, but I don’t see the current group as being undersized.

Could be, but Vegas’ remaining schedule is pretty tough and LA’s is pretty weak.

Just because you called someone a POS one day, doesn’t mean that you must call them a POS, in those exact words, every time you mention them from then on. That would be a ridiculous expectation.

Surely they would almost get to hand pick their team, but the contract they can get is limited, so no team will have an advantage in that regard, and not many (any?) team has a more wide open goalie situation than Buffalo. If Buffalo has built a positive relationship with these guys, they should remain a very attractive option.

I think that 10 goals and 40 assists is a more reasonable floor. That will be close to where he finishes this season.
