  1. Under the CBA, I don’t believe that there is any way to renegotiate a contract. Once signed, contracts are what they are. They can be voided under certain circumstances, but not renegotiated/altered.
  2. No, he is from Rimouski Quebec.
  3. Even if he signs a contract extension this offseason, it does not change his current contract. He won’t cost any more in the 2022-23 season. For example, if Tage signs a 6x6 contract extension this offseason, he will still be making $1.4M for the 2022-23 season. Then his extension kicks in after that and is in effect for the 2023-24 through 2028-29 seasons.
  4. It will become an issue 2-3 years from now when all of Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, Thompson, Cozens, Mitts, Krebs, Quinn, Peterka need new, more expensive contracts.
  5. You’re telling me? I’m telling you! That wouldn’t surprise me one bit, but I don’t think they’ll believe that will lead directly to great on ice success. I could see Subban being a helpful mentor for young D though.
  6. Sabres have made me feel suppressed for years......oh wait, that’s depressed.
  7. I can understand the desire to know. I would like to know too, but it’s not important that I know. I do not place your or my desire for “closure” above the wishes for privacy of a family going through a difficult time. I feel it’s appropriate that updates happen on their timeline, not yours. In the end, we will know whether Kim is healthy enough to continue her role with PSE. I don’t really think anyone should feel owed more than that.
  8. What exactly would you like to know then? How would knowing it make a difference in your life?
  9. I think that knowing she is in the hospital, in the ICU, and is improving (or was at least) is more than enough. There is no reason that you need to know her exact condition, or receive daily updates. It’s not going to benefit you or help you in any way. I think you are just being nosy.
  10. I am simply referring to whose job it is to report information to the public. Im sure that there are innumerable examples of unethical reporting.
  11. I don’t know. I think the media is generally respectful. For a close to home example, Eugine Melnyk recent passed away after a years long battle with illness. It was not reported on until his passing. I’m sure that some in the Ottawa/NHL media knew that he was unwell beforehand, but they chose to not report on it.
  12. Newsworthy? I guess you could call it that, from a human interest standpoint. But honestly, it’s her private business and you just don’t need to know. Just because something is interesting does not make it ethical to report on. In what way is it important for the public to know exactly what health issues Kim Pegula has? We know that she is/was ill and in the ICU, and that her health is improving. What more should you possibly be owed?
  13. A reporter is not bound by HIPPA, only health care providers are. I’m sure a few people know, but the reporters are respecting the wishes of the family that her medical condition not become public knowledge. It’s the ethical thing to do.
  14. I don’t think it should be viewed as a real draft ranking. I bet if Bader was actually drafting, he wouldn’t follow his own model’s rankings exactly. I’d say that it should more be used as a investigative tool, not an end all be all ranking.
  15. We can discuss and dissect, but the trade cost for 1 year of Kane depends entirely on what Kane wants. Are the Blackhawks’ options to (1) lose him to UFA after the coming season or (2) trade him to Buffalo? Or are the options much less restrictive? If Kane is telling the Hawks that he isn’t going accept a trade to anywhere but Buffalo either now or at the trade deadline, then the price should be quite cheap and it could possibly make sense for Buffalo. If Kane is willing or desires to go to a contender for a 1 season playoff run, then the price gets more expensive and it probably makes absolutely no sense for Buffalo.
  16. I believe that they were 2 of 88 players invited to camp for the WJC. Going off memory so I could be mistaken.
  17. I feel the same way about there being the possibility for some great value from drafting Russians this year. Kournianos is a good listen sometimes.
  18. It’s the 2022 WJC that was postponed and rescheduled
  19. They can trade him to a contender at the deadline, then he can sign with Buffalo in the offseason.
  20. Go about your business, but I’m also of the opinion that it’s out of place at sporting events.
  21. Thanks. I think it makes a lot more sense next offseason though.
  22. Question. We’re these picks based on who they thought might actually go to these teams, based on league intel and/or team needs, or is based more on their personal rankings?
  23. Well, in the middle of this season, he went back to the team that he had ditched the previous season. And if the new teams that he went to utilized him better, it wasn’t reflected in his production, which was actually worse. Even if you take any character concerns out of the equation, he hasn’t been effective against above junior level and he hasn’t shown improvement over the past couple years.
  24. Lol. Is this place supposed to be fun? Fun, jokes, haha. I do trust Tom. I just wasn’t sure if he was referring to fan speculation or to stuff he’s heard from people who might know. He has made the distinction for clarity at times in the past.
