  1. That’s good. Appears that he wants to show everyone (1) hey look, I’m healthy! and (2) hey look, I really want to be in NA! Not surprising given previous reports that he tried to come over for his draft season but a visa snafu held him up. I would feel really good about drafting him at #16.
  2. It’s possible that the AHL salary is the same as the NHL. Some proven AHL veterans get that, but it’s not universal. It could be anything really. For example, a good AHL player might get a deal with an NHL salary of $750k and an AHL salary of $350k.
  3. 750k KAs favorite number. Just kidding. This is a good guy to keep around. I’m curious what his AHL salary is on the contract but it looks like details aren’t out yet.
  4. Sounds like he wanted to bet over to NA ASAP.
  5. Good to hear that he will be at Dev camp at least. Do we know if Portillo will be?
  6. Gaucher, Nathan. Gauthier, Cutter, is another guy.
  7. Modano and Chelios for sure, then Kane is right there.
  8. I know it won’t, but if the draft were to fall just as McKenzie’s list does, I would like the Sabres to do the following: 9) Kasper, Savoie, or Nazar 16) Miroshnichenko or Ohgren 28) Mesar, Beck, or Luneau 41) Goyette, Trikozov, Lutz, Lorenz, Warren, or Lamoreux
  9. 64 points.......in 67 games. I know you were making a larger point but I’m just saying. 21, but yeah. When did Eichel play at a 120 point pace for 60ish games? I don’t think his numbers were ever that good.
  10. That’s what it means to you, but that might not be universal. I’m just saying that a team’s draft list could take into account team need in how the players are ranked. Then by following that list a team could say that the were drafting BPA.
  11. I don’t know man. In a three year period, if they keep them, they will have picked: 2022: 1st, 13th, 33rd, 53rd 2023: 9th, 16th, 28th, 41st 2024: a 1st, three 2nds Those are a lot of high picks. I would expect that to result in at least 3 top 6/top 4 players and 3 lower quality but solid NHL players. Then there are a bunch of 3rd round and lower picks too. You would expect to get 2-3 good NHL contributors from that group too, although probably taking longer to develop. Just go look at Sabres’ top 40 draft picks from the recent past. Quinn, Peterka, Cozens, Johnson, Dahlin, Samuelsson.
  12. Listening to it now. They were pretty full of it, to be honest. Just going on and on about how it’s elite players who win cups, how Sabres don’t have any, how Sabres never have any players who surpass expectations, and how they should trade multiple picks to move up in the draft if there is a player they think can be elite. It was mostly just hot air filling air time, in my opinion. Of course you need elite players to win a championship, but you need depth too. Ask Edmonton, ask Boston.
  13. Yeah, but my point was that BPA is such a flexible phrase and does not in itself so much to describe a draft strategy. It could mean any number of things. It’s a non answer answer that a GM can throw out there when asked about his draft strategy.
  14. BPA off their personal draft rankings? Does their ranking have team positional needs baked in? Isn’t any player drafted because the team determined them to be the best available? I know you don’t know, I just find these statements kind of funny. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a GM say that they were not going to draft the best player available.
  15. If it’s important to Kane that he goes to Buffalo, then it definitely should not be higher than that, IMO. Also, significant difference in value between Johnson and Portillo. Assuming that both are set on going to UFA, Johnson is equivalent to a 2024 2nd round pick. Portillo is equivalent to nothing.
  16. I think they should. Maybe not a 3rd because the goalie class seems rather weak, but somewhere in the draft. I think that a team should draft a goalie nearly every season.
  17. Something similar to the package given up for Skinner? In reality, I doubt that Kane is moved in the offseason. I think it’s much more likely that he is moved to a contender near the trade deadline, when he is easier to fit under the cap and his value will be higher. He can go on a run, (really doesn’t every player want to do that?) then he can make his UFA decisions.
  18. Is it still tampering if no one finds out? Seriously, these GMs and agents speak often. I think it’s pretty likely that they drop hints and tid bits of info to each other regularly.
  19. If the Sabres make it known to Kane that they are very interested in acquiring him within the next 13 months, and giving him a fair value contract, but can’t work out a reasonable trade with Chicago, I would think Kane would give them a chance in free agency. If Kane level of “want” to be in Buffalo is that low, and the Sabres do “step up” and pay considerable assets to trade for Kane, what assurances does Buffalo have that he will sign an extension. I think there is just as much risk in “stepping up” as there is in being patient.
  20. Isn’t this whole idea of the Sabres acquiring Kane based upon the idea that it is important to Kane that he play in Buffalo? If it is made known to Kane that the Sabres have serious interest in signing him, but he decides to sign an extension with another team before the Sabres are even eligible to sign him, then I would say that he wasn’t particularly interested in signing with Buffalo in the first place.
  21. Definitely not accusing anyone of lying. Like I said, I found him so tiresomely negative that I usually had him blocked, so I probably missed some stuff.
  22. I don’t believe that he was.
  23. I recall that he was from Sweden and claimed to have heard things from people locally. I don’t recall him ever claiming to be friends or tight with Linus. I do recall him being so relentlessly negative/tiresome that I had him blocked much of the time. In my opinion he wasn’t much of a Sabres fan, but was a fan of Ullmark.
  24. It will also serve the Sabres well in that it slides their ELCs by another season. 😉
  25. Really? A poster got mad, so that’s proof that the Sabres were in the wrong. That’s a hilarious notion.
