They aren’t actually welcome to trade him ANYWHERE else. If the really want to trade him, and he says “trade me to Buffalo, or I’ll just wait for UFA” then Chicago’s hands are very tied and they won’t get much of anything for him. Kane won’t do that though, so it’s moot. I would be shocked if Buffalo traded for him. Maybe they can sign him in 13 months though.

Tom didn’t say that it was sourced information. I’m curious whether it is or not.
-
Why do you assume the bolded? He is a UFA next offseason. Why is it a guarantee that he resigns with Chicago, especially if he actually wants to go to Buffalo to finish his career as is being suggested. Kane has 100% control over if and where he goes in this situation and Chicago has almost none. He can’t be traded anywhere unless he approves the trade, and he is free to sign anywhere he likes in 13 months. If Buffalo wants him and he wants Buffalo, he’ll come here. If he doesn’t want to come here then he won’t. He holds all the cards.
-
I know Tom has some sources, so I’m curious if he means real rumblings from sources or if he is just talking about fan led nonsense. Not all media is unreliable. Plus, even if they were just all chasing clicks, if there were rumblings around the league about Kane to Buffalo they would surely share that info because it would generate tons of clicks. No reason to withhold it. Yet, I’ve seen no public discussion of it.
-
Oh my goodness. If he actually wants to go to Buffalo why would the Sabres trade a single thing for him? Simply sign him as a UFA in 13 months.
-
Are there actually rumblings of a Kane to Buffalo move though? I’ve heard none.
-
Yeah, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but from what media/scout people are saying it seems like Savoie will probably fall. I like Savoie or Nazar as a pick because I think Buffalo does need to add more dynamic offense to the lineup and PP. Quinn, Peterka, and hopefully Rosen could add some but I think they need another potential high end offense guy. If Sabres could get Savoie at 9 and Ohgren, Kasper, or McGroarty at 16, I’d be tickled pink.
-
Yeah, he is not dissimilar in that aspect, but that’s not unique to failed prospects, and it’s not the reason that Glennie failed to become a good NHL player. Glennie could not stay healthy. Lots of prospects rise in the draft rankings over the course of their draft season and lots of them turn into successful players.
-
Depends on a lot of things. Who else is available at that pick, how does the medical staff evaluate the risks of his cancer. I’d say he is worth consideration there.
-
Miroshnichenko of course has the health concerns, but I would not worry about any “Russian Factor” issues with him. I get the impression that he is fully focused on playing in the North America ASAP. He actually tried to come over to play in USHL for his draft year but had a visa snafu that held it up. I don’t think he is a guy who is going to just stay in Russia until age 22-23-24.

In what way?

Essentially, all of the media types who cover the draft are hearing from their league/team sources that he will go very high. NHL teams project him to be a C, so you are looking at a 6’3” 200lb C who skates well, is fairly physical, and has a great shot. It’s the type of package that someone is going to draft high. Savoie has seemed to drop and I expect him to be available at 9. Beyond that it’s pretty unpredictable.
-
Personally not a fan of Rinzel. At least not in the 1st round or for Buffalo. He is big and can skate, but seems more of an offensive defenseman. Issue with him that he hasn’t really been any good at any level above high school hockey. He struggled when he played in the USHL this season. He is a bundle of physical potential that isn’t molded into much in the way of hockey skills yet. I have an easier time picturing someone who has already shown aptitude to be solid defensively as a good fit with the Sabres current young Dmen.

I really doubt Gauthier is there at 9. Ohgren might be there at 16 if we are lucky. I doubt McGroarty is still there at 28. More realistic options for that profile of player might be Ohgren at 9, McGroarty at 16, and someone like Nathan Gaucher at 28. If Sabres can grab Ohgren at 16, I’d be just thrilled, but I wouldn’t take all three guys like that. With the 9, 16, 28, and 41 picks I’d ideally like to see 2 power forward types (Gauthier, Ohgren, Kasper, McGroarty, Miroshnichenko, Yurov, Beck, Gaucher, Del Bell Belluz, Schaefer, Lutz), 1 swing at a high upside, dynamic forward (Nazar, Savoie, Ostland, Firkus, Mesar, Howard, Trikozov, Lambert, Kulich, Goyette, Perevalov, Sykora) , and 1 defensively solid RD (Chesley, Luneau, Warren, Lamoureux)

Report Vegas Golden Knights Have Hired Bruce Cassidy as Head Coach
Curt replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I mean, he can GO to Vegas with Cassidy. They can do some gambling, take in a couple shows, but I don’t see how the Golden Knights have any money to sign Bergeron to play hockey. I would be very surprised if Bergeron left Boston. -

@North Buffalo @Marvin, Sabres Fan Me too. When we were teens, my friends and I used to play 4 a side tackle football in the yard without pads or helmets. We would play ice and street hockey without helmets too. Im probably lucky that my main organized sport I played was tennis. -
I know everyone can have their own opinion but that list looks like doggy doodoo to me.

Sabres Announce They Signed Filip Cederqvist to a 2 Year ELC
Curt replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The situation was pretty clearly unwanted. The 40 year old goalie took the job because it was his last opportunity to be an NHL starter. The guy who ended up with the job was a 40 yr old who was almost out of the league and you are trying to use that as evidence that maybe it wasn’t an undesirable job? -
Hope everything is looking up from here with your father. Nice list. I don’t know what it is this season but I find myself being really drawn to players who have a physical, gritty element to their games. Maybe it’s that I can actually see a path towards the playoffs for the Sabres and I don’t want a bunch of softies when we get there. With that in mind, I’ve been thinking hard about Kasper and Ohgren (as well as Miroshnichenko and McGroarty) for the Sabres specifically and I’d be fine with either (both?) for Buffalo. Ohgren’s production is wild. I think people rating Korchinski as a top-10 pick or 3rd best D are being fooled by the great team around him and the long playoff run.

5th round pick in 2019. Winger who seems to be developing pretty well. Might be a future Sabre. -

Just a note on this. This change is not a blanket rule forcing all under 24?Swedish players to return to the SHL if they are not in the NHL. This applies to players who are under contract with SHL teams. So if you are a 17 year old Swede with eyes on playing in NA, you might negotiate your contract in such a way that at age 20-21-22, your SHL contract ends. Then you could come over to the AHL at that time.
