  1. In full disclosure, ranked 7th among N American skaters. That excludes several higher ranked Euro players and Askarov.
  2. Interesting parallel between this pick and the Thompson signing. With Thompson, they could have signed him to a one year, ~$1M QO, kicking the can down the road in a “let’s see” manner. Instead, they bet on the player. Bet that one or two years down the line they will have themselves a bargain. With Quinn they could have made a “safe” pick on a more developed player. They took they guy who they think has more growth potential. The guy who might make them look clairvoyant a couple years from now. They bet on the player. My take away is that they are more than willing to bet on guys who they believe in long term. I don’t yet know if that’s going to be good or not.
  3. Yeah, I get it. I was partly joking. If you are going to bet on a guy making major improvements, you better be sure you are betting on the right guy. I hope Quinn is that guy.
  4. Agree. Honestly I would have preferred they take a guy like Rossi or Lundell who are close to sure thing decent NHLers.
  5. I’m going to say that this pick isn’t an automatic fail, even though I would have rather had Rossi, Lundell, or Jarvis. Good news: Quinn has definite goal scoring chops. He isn’t just a lurker waiting for one timers either. He scores in a lot of different ways. He also isn’t one dimensional. He plays a smart 200ft game with effort in all areas. Not as good news: He is an alright passer, but I don’t think he’ll be a real playmaker at the next level. His skating is fine, but needs to get even better to really hit his potential. He also needs to get stronger. Skating and strength/weight are two areas that regularly improve a lot with pro instruction. Looking on the bright side here.
  6. Scoring goals? Innit?
  7. Yeah, I hate it when prospects are too good and too polished. That’s the worst.
  8. 6’0” 175lbs vs 5’9” 185lbs
  9. He isn’t even big????
  10. One thing I’ll say for Quinn is that I don’t think he is a one dimensional player. I think that NJ made a pick just as bad right in front of us.
  11. Quinn is one of the older prospects, but so is Rossi, kind of a wash in that regard.
  12. Whose his brother?
  13. I feel disappointed. I’m gonna go watch Jack Quinn highlights to feel better. Rossi who? Lundell who? Perfetti who?
  14. This seems *****.
  15. Rossi or Lundell
  16. ROSSI!!!!!
  17. Dang, Raymond was someone I wanted
  18. I’m sure that these first couple guys were sent 4-5 jerseys at least.
  19. Am I lagging? Lol
  20. Button just said 60 points in his first full NHL season. Smh

    So #8

Almost like height is not one of the most important attributes for a hockey player????

We will know the pick in less than 39 mins.
  23. This looks pretty polished, for everything being remote.
  24. I want so many screens between Yzerman and the pick, that his own hockey department can’t even find him among the Norton’s antivirus pop ups.
  25. Maybe? Rossi seems good at C. Could he be just as or more impactful at W? I dunno. Also, it wasn’t really a Buffalo thing, but an NHL thing. I’ve no doubt that some NHL coaches would have that hesitation.
