  1. I do not recall anyone from Carolina calling Skinner uncoachable. Could you tell me where I can find this pretty much well known information? I thought Skinner’s issues in Carolina were related to the two sides not being close on contract talks and him wanting to be close to Toronto?
  2. Because according to the statistics that @Weave was referencing, Fleury is performing very well. Much better than Ullmark/Hutton.
  3. McCabe certain can fit into Krueger’s play style, like hand in glove. He was solid last year as well. Dependable. I just was slightly taken aback at seeing him described as a top pair guy. I don’t think of him as that quality of player. Maybe I need to watch him closely and think on this one.
  4. Ok. I guess on if you mean that as an assessment of the quality of the player or an assessment of the usage of the player.
  5. Whoa. Buried the lead here. McCabe is playing well right now, but that’s a big statement.
  6. Where are you getting your generally “accepted” information from? I agree with @That Aud Smell
  7. Cozens is Yukon Cornelius and he is going to turn the rest of the league into his Bumble.
  8. Guilty! My B 148 Wins, 140 Losses, 21 OTL, 19 Ties Still a losing record, but better.
  9. I’m loving this. Curtis’ don’t get enough appreciation! 😉
  10. Mostly agree here. Though if I coach is using a player poorly, in a way that does not benefit the team, that’s on the coach. Covid impacts air travel, especially across state lines. Travel by car is much less complicated with regards to this.
  11. If only life was so simple!
  12. 148 Wins, 140 Losses, 21 OTL, 19 Ties Still a losing record, but better.
  13. Ok. That’s fine. Maybe he keeps getting better. That doesn’t change the fact that he simply has not proven himself to be the level of player that you should feel super comfortable putting out there in 75% of games.
  14. Good post. I don’t think people realize how much goalie performance is system dependent. Not just the quality of the players in front of them, but the actual system they play and what type of plays that system requires the goalie to make.
  15. Yeah, the money issue very well may case them to look elsewhere. I don’t believe that there needs to be a clear and definite label of a #1 goalie who gets heavy duty usage and backup goalie who gets light usage. I think teams should try to split starts more evenly. And I certainly don’t think that Ullmark has shown that he is someone a team should be comfortable with as a high usage #1 goalie.
  16. Depends on the deal. Sabres can only afford to take on so much. They don’t have that much room.
  17. How many wins better that Ullmark do you think Fleury is, over the remaining games?
  18. 5 wins at least? In how many games? 20? Seems dubious unless there is a lengthy Ullmark absence.
  19. Fleury may be just a slight upgrade. He’s better than Hutton, but probably not any better than Ullmark. Also, he should be almost free. I don’t think you need to give up so much for him.
  20. Quinn has not played. I would a little surprised if he does. Cozens has very been good for a rookie. No/few glaring mistakes, and occasional high quality plays. He looks like he belongs. Because this is a shorter season, it’s not 9 games, it’s 6 this year. Cozens is at 6 right now, his next game will put him over. He is staying up.
  21. Randy Sexton was the AHL GM, not Greeley.
  22. Oh wow, NY sports fan site thinks that great player X wants to (I mean, come on, of course, it’s NY) and will play for NY sports team. This is a shocking revelation. Seriously, this is a constant with NY metro sports teams. They think every great player secretly wants to play for their team and they expect that their team will get that player, because it’s NY. That article is crap writing with zero new information. Just recycled hopes and dreams from the past two years, reformatted for another round of clicks.
  23. Like anything else, it all depends on the deal. He certainly has no value on that contract, and there would need to be more to the deal for Buffalo to fit him under the cap. Yes, because neither of us are clairvoyant, he may or may not be the difference for Buffalo. However, in my eyes, he is without a doubt better than Hutton, and almost as good as Ullmark. Roughly an average NHL goalie. With regards to waiting for something better, it could work out or it could be a total disaster. If Hutton blows 3-4 for Buffalo while they are waiting for a better deal, then it’s probably already too late.
  24. Would you pay him $6M? Lol. That’s what his actual salary will be. He is not great, and he is not worth his salary, but he is decent. What if he is the difference between Buffalo making the playoffs or not making the playoffs? What is that worth? I think he would be almost free to acquire.
  25. Agreed. I don’t see anyone excited by the Sabres season so far.
