  1. Seriously, could you expand on this? Some of us actually have not taken Stats 101. Explain it it to us like we are 12.
  2. I’m confused. Was this a response to my post??? Did I say anything about whether the Sabres were or were not trying to win this season? Why are you trying to convince me that they were not? I’ll ask my questions again because I’m genuinely interested in your viewpoint on this. What if they draft top 5 in the 2022 draft, should they then try to loose as much as possible to also draft high in 2023? What if they miss out on the best prospects in 2023 and draft 5th or something, should they try to lose again in the 2023-24 season. How many years do you think it’s acceptable to loose on purpose?
  3. For all of his good qualities, I don’t think Krebs is a particularly good shooter/finisher.
  4. Maybe they do have elite talent that just hasn’t finished developing yet. Maybe they can draft elite talent in the mid 1st or even in later rounds. What if they draft top 5 in the 2022 draft, should they then try to loose as much as possible to also draft high in 2023? What if they miss out on the best prospects in 2023 and draft 5, should they try to loose again in the 2023-24 season. How many years do you think it’s acceptable to loose on purpose?
  5. Id prefer to be a playoff team or bubble team, and hope that the team can make the right moves to improve further from there. If the team misses the playoffs, sure, I’ll hope that they get to draft a great player, but I’m not going to hope that they finish at the bottom of the league or anything like that. In your opinion, what do the Sabres need before they should try to win games?
  6. You hope that we are drafting at the top of the 2023 draft?
  7. I have not really looked at the dynamic pricing setup. I assume that tickets they judge to have a higher demand are priced higher. Is this out of the ordinary for pro sports teams? When did the Sabres start doing this? Selling a team doesn’t make you a terrible owner, IMO. I don’t think that accusing Sabres fans of being poor fans and not supporting the team would be a very good way to stay in the good graces of Bills fans.
  8. Krebs is a 20 year old who 2 weeks ago had to uproot his life, move across the country, and join a new team in a different league. I say we give him some time to settle into his new environment before we judge him too much.
  9. Why would they need a justification for selling the team? Not offering a discount for certain games, is far from an injustice.
  10. Can’t add much regarding the quality of chances he has faced. The team in front of him is one of the youngest in D1, tied for 4th youngest, and they are getting outshot, about 47% shot share, and they don’t limit number of shots against to any great degree. https://www.collegehockeynews.com/stats/#addit
  11. $17 and $29 for Columbus and Kraken though.
  12. Could you expand a bit on the bolded? How did the implementation of the draft create a selection bias that did not exist previously?
  13. I actually had the same idea regarding 4th line/defensive forward type guys, who I think are generally a little larger, dragging down the numbers. I think that probably does go a long way towards explaining it. I suspect that if you looked only at forwards receiving top-6 ice time, larger players would out produce smaller ones by a little. I wonder about the numerical distribution by size throughout the lineup. What’s the average size of a top-6 F, or top-4 D, vs the NHL average? I’d be interested in seeing that as well.
  14. I don’t really disagree with you. However, my question is relating directly to the subject of this thread. In the NHL, larger players do not produce, or create production for teammates, at a higher rate than smaller players. Why is this? What could it mean? If thats not a conversation that you are interested in having, that’s ok. It’s more a question for everyone, as opposed to you specifically, anyway.
  15. Can you back this up with any data?
  16. No doubt. Large size can have some disadvantages as well, just as small size can have some advantages.
  17. The things you are saying about the advantages of being bigger/stronger are true. There are undoubtedly advantages to being larger. Why do you think then that larger players do not produce at a higher rate than smaller players? Thats an open question for anyone actually, and a much more relevant question regarding the article cited by the OP.
  18. This is a strange comment. He said right in his post the he thought they did add toughness. @LGR4GM has never said that toughness doesn’t matter, or skill for that matter. He is arguing that people say they want size, but that size in itself isn’t that valuable.
  19. 21 year old defensemen generally do make big changes.
  20. During these years that you couldn’t add weight, were you working out with the goal of adding muscle mass?
  21. I’m way more pedantic than average, but you just gonna need to let this go. To repeatedly bring this up is beyond petty. What is Fagan supposed to do, market the concerts as “Donald Fagan covering Steely Dan”? I find your complaints illogical.
  22. Seems that the Pens broadcasters have a good feel for their team, and the league officiating.
  23. If he is there outside the lottery, it could be a steal, but I’m not sure if he is the type of guy that Adams is looking for.
  24. Curt

    Team size

Average weight of Sabres 2021 draft picks was 180lbs and they drafted 5 players who are 6’2”+.
