  1. Thanks! I figured someone who isn't a vet on these boards should say something in hopes of bringing other new posters into the conversation
  2. This brings up an issue I have with reporters who tweet results from practice in real time. Specifically, I have an issue with reporters who tweet results of plays and add their own commentary to it. It's impossible to watch everything at the same time, especially from the sidelines where reporters stand at camp. A single football play has too many variables to know exactly what went wrong unless it's obvious i.e. there's good protection and a quarterback misses a receiver running all alone downfield. If a quarterback walks up to the line, signals something to his receiver, snaps the ball, is blitzed heavy, and ends up throwing the ball 5 yards behind the receiver, a reporter could tweet "EJ under heavy pressure and doesn't connect with Harvin." or a reporter could tweet "EJ misses badly. Doesn't even give Harvin a chance. Woof." If it turns out that EJ signaled a hot route and the receiver didn't run it when the blitz was called, then it was the receiver's fault and the first tweet would be more correct because it refrained from making personal commentary. And this has nothing to do with Joe B directly, or EJ. They just happened to be involved in the play yesterday that was the receiver's fault. The point I'm trying to make is that there are so many variables to create the outcome of a play that it's difficult to inject your own commentary in real-time unless you 1. Know the playcall 2. Know the duties of each player on each play or 3. Every other variable is accounted for besides 1 or 2 that you can point to and say "THAT is exactly what went wrong with the play. The RB failed to pick up the backside end in pass protection" or "Percy failed to stick his route a few yards shorter to account for the blitz and hot throw."
  3. In my limited time here so far, I've been welcomed with open arms. Sliding into different threads and offering an opinion without derailing existing conversation hasn't led to any sort of backlash or negativity at all. Hell, I've even learned a thing or two from other posters.
  4. I've gone to three practices this year (Day 1, the first night practice, and the scrimmage). I can say that Taylor has done a very good job of picking when to run compared to where he was on day 1. On that first day, there was an instance or 2 where he tucked and ran in 7v7. I was shocked as I never witnessed that before. Typically if no one is open, you simply throw it out of bounds. Anyways, at the scrimmage Tyrod stayed in the pocket for as long as he could. As Rex said today, the 2nd team d-line is further ahead than the 2nd team o-line so when any QB was with the backups, they were seeing bullets fly past them. After about 3 instances of correctly tucking the ball and running for a chunk of yards, Tyrod bailed out of the pocket too quickly so the heat did lead to an inadvertent scramble eventually but overall he seems to want to prove he is a quarterback who can play in the pocket when given time to throw.
  5. Interesting poll/quiz. 82% Bernie Sanders 74% Hillary Clinton 68% Marco Rubio My ideology: Centrist Oddly enough, on the ideology chart, Kasich is the closest to me yet he has the lowest score at 36%. I did some digging and it seems like any question where the candidate doesn't have a set view on the topic, it automatically goes into the disagree pile. There are a lot of questions they don't have a confirmed stance from Kasich so I wonder if he would jump to the front if they had more concrete answers for him...
  6. Fiorina is one to watch for me as well as I don't know much about her but would like to see how she conducts herself on stage with the "big dogs". Hopefully she can get a few more votes in the polls to get on the big stage in one of the next debates.
  7. I could be wrong, but isn't he a voice for their anger? At least, isn't he attempting to be a voice for their anger? As for the Clinton's, I agree wholeheartedly. The vibe I get from Hillary is she is a politician's spouse trying to play politician. With Bill, it comes naturally. It's like someone gave Hillary a script on how to be a politician and she is trying to act it out on the fly. Yes, this has nothing to do with her actual abilities, views, or policies. It's just the energy she gives off to me.
  8. Seriously, where is the security team for him? They should have been off the stage in under 10 seconds. And even after all that, the guy offers to let them speak after Sanders and that still isn't good enough for them. ungrateful
  9. That immediately pissed me off. Can't stand the disrespect some people have and the ignorance to basically pick a battle with someone who is fighting the same fight as them.
  10. I agree, we should spend more than anyone else on the military, but I don't think it should be at the rate it currently is. That's basically what I told him, you can't let paranoia steer your decision making.
  11. Funny, I was having a conversation with my friend about this just an hour ago. He does not share our sentiments. He feels as though we are too far in as the world police to pull out now. He has this idea what if we were to pull back our military presence, anarchy would ensue and it would be up to us to stop it again. He also believes cutting back at all on military spending is a cocky move that would leave us vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
  12. Kasich had a nice moment there with regards to gay marriage. What is his stance on education? I knew nothing of him before tonight. I apologize if he addressed it tonight as I must have missed it.
  13. No need to be sorry! I thought it was a good question so I answered it. Back to the debate... Does anyone know anything about John Kasich? Good? Bad?
  14. Seriously. Why are they side-stepping questions and instead name-dropping Clinton and giving her publicity in a GOP debate? Doesn't seem like a sound strategy to me
  15. Since I didn't have enough information (mostly of my own doing) to vote for either major party, I certainly didn't have enough information on Independent candidates (again, mainly of my own doing)
  16. I'm a fan of Rocky Patel Connecticut. It's one of the smokes I got in a sampler pack. 5 Vegas classic was good as well
  17. Yep I was trying too hard. Just like overthinking a layup and missing...
  18. And I'm not arguing against your groupthink point. I totally agree it is wrong to group candidates of either party together en masse. And I'm sure he is a brainiac, but he (like others in either party) can have very misguided thoughts or say things they may later regret. That's why I have trouble keeping track of so many candidates at this point. Things they say can be hard to track on a day to day basis
  19. "because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight, and when they come out, they’re gay." America today is "very much like Nazi Germany." Out of context? Yes. But still...
  20. Another one to keep an eye on: Carson Wentz from North Dakota State. 1 year starter, about 6'5 220 and mobile. Here's a vine of him throwing a 15 yard out. https://vine.co/v/e1ieL60VrnEDefinitely an NFL throw. I really don't know much else about him but he's a dark horse to look out for. Here's an article with more info on him: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2520812-can-carson-wentz-become-the-2016-nfl-drafts-top-qb-prospect
  21. Funny you mention this. That's what I did with the last Presidential election. It was my first opportunity to vote. I wasn't in love with either candidate and to be frank I didn't follow the race close enough to make an educated decision so I actively chose not to vote for either. Hopefully this election brings out a candidate I like, but right now there are way too many candidates to keep up with all of their views and policies.
  22. Ahh, Munich. Spent an extended weekend there. Loved HB and Schneider Weisse. Still grab some SW tap 7 whenever I get to Beers of the World.
  23. Yep, way too early to predict the ability of the QB prospects coming out, especially when we don't even know which underclassmen will declare early. With that said, there are probably 4-5 guys to keep an eye on. Hopefully a few of them show solid progress so there are multiple guys with 1st-2nd round grades
  24. Yeah, again, I wasn't primarily watching the line so I don't know exactly how the pass blocking worked out. I don't know if the sacks are coming from players being overmatched, confused from pre-snap alignment, or simply from Rex sending more rushers than there are linemen on that side of the field. I'm still not overly worried about the front 5 in pass or run blocking until I see them in game action against someone other than Rex and a defense that finished with the most sacks in the NFL last season.
